Summary: Easily the best of the Bond films...
Review: Many people have said that this is the worst of the Bond films. On the contrary! George Lazenby is in my mind the ONLY person that has ever portrayed the essence of James Bond correctly and well. The luscious Diana Rigg fits perfectly into my image of a "Bond girl". And Telly Savalas is a perfect image of a hit man! Lovely film. The snow sequences are outstanding. And the ending - well, I won't give anything away, but it is easily one of the most heartbreaking endings to a Bond film yet recorded. Get this film. You won't regret it. (It will be available for purchase in May 2000, according to the official website - that month is marked on my calendars, I can assure you!)

Summary: If Only Connery Had Been In It
Review: If Connery had done this one it would be with out a doubt the best of the series. Alas, we are stuck with the wooden Lazenby. The film has a good plot and is actually a fine romantic picture too. Rigg makes the best Bond girl of all time because she was actually intelligent and quick on her feet. She even saves Bonds life in one suspenseful scene. One thing that will always bother me though is why Blofeld and Bond didn't recognize each other when they meet again in this film. This entry in the series also has the best ending. I won't give the ending away, but it is definately tradgic.

Summary: On Her Majesty's Secret Service - George Lazenby
Review: This 1969 release of James Bond is clearly one of the most pivotal and depth enriching portrayals of Bond. The cast is excellent, the story takes the time to build, and has a unique plot. Great chases and action. One of the best Bond films ever! George Lazenby played Bond once but his portrayal is superb. Dianna Rigg - Super -Telly Savalas - Great !

Summary: I miss the production quality of the previous Bonds
Review: This Bond plot has the potential to have a great villain, action sequences, and wonderful scenery, but there is something missing. It has that "realistic" production style that crept out of the '60's and dominated the '70's, and you didn't have to see that in the previous Bonds, and which made the previous Bonds more a joy to watch. The "realistic" look is OK for a film like the French Connection, the Godfather or a war picture, but it doesn't belong in a Bond picture. It's probably the director's fault, because the same production company made this one as the previous 5, so you can't blame EON productions.

Summary: Even Ian Fleming would have approved. . . .
Review: Many years ago, long before James Bond became the high-tech hero of the movie set, there were a set of fascinating books written by a gentleman named Ian Fleming. These books were about a superior British Intelligence agent, code name 007. With due regard to Sean Connery and the equally effective Timothy Dalton, George Lazenby, the star of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, is by far the closest of the Bond actors to the character of the books. There is nothing charming or even particularly likeable about the James Bond of print. He is a totally non-descript character who can easily disappear into any crowd; a cold-blooded killer who will accomplish his mission regardless of the cost. Connery came close in Dr No, Tim Dalton even closer in License to Kill but both are too physically attractive to accurately depict 007. In these regards, Lazenby excels in his protrayal of Bond. This story is a gripping, emotional tale of an agent committing the ultimate sin, getting involved with another individual involved in a mission. All of the normal Bond components are present; gadgetry, high-speed chases, lots of explosions and lots of pretty girls. This one goes one step farther, giving us a truly malevolent villain (played brilliantly by Telly Savalas)and Bond's only true romantic interest (played equally brilliantly by Diana Rigg). The action is non-stop, the locations are beautiful, the soundtrack one of the best. The climax is one of the most gut-wrenching ever placed on film. On Her Majesty's Secret Service has often been placed at the very bottom of the long list of James Bond vehicles. It doesn't belong there. This is an outstanding film with a truly outstanding cast. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Summary: Great
Review: Lazenby is only outranked by Connery, as the best Bond. He was a fashion model, who never acted before, so people tend to review his acting on THAT information, not on his performance. But he gives a natural, subtle performance, and has masculinity and charisma to boot. Which shows how much acting talent is instinctive, and doesn't necessarily require ten years at Yale Drama school. Lazenby was angry that the crew and producers condescended to him, and treated him poorly during filming, so announced he wouldn't return as Bond even before the film's release. His loss and ours. And the movie is a STORY, and not some thread of plot used to dress up chase scenes and fancy contraptions (which are the legacy of the Roger Moore years). I like all the Bonds, but this movie is a treasure, and the ski scenes, and the soundtrack during the ski scenes are DYNAMITE! If you prefer the Bond movies that are basically visual circuses, this one isn't for you. But if you like a good MOVIE, this is one you can't miss. (It didn't hurt that O.H.M.S.S is probably Ian Fleming's best Bond novel, either. I recommend that, too).

Summary: The most overlooked of all Bond films
Review: This is the most overlooked Bond film, but it is the best. I first rented this without even looking at the box (hey, it's Bond) and upon veiwing it I was shocked that Sean Connery wasn't in it! I was mad about this, but i kept watching it, but not expecting much out of it. Boy, was I wrong. This guy George Lazenby is the #2 best Bond there ever was (#1 being Connery of course) and this movie is truly amazing. It piles on the action, and never lets up. Ski stunts are fantastic, and it has many twists and turns in the plot (at least I thought it did). Great movie. If you haven't seen it, where've you been?

Summary: I loved it but....
Review: This could have easily been my favorite 007 movie after FRWL. The only trouble I had with it was Lazenby's wooden dialog. George seemed to be reading his lines from a teleprompter. I liked George, he had the looks, the style to be the pefect Bond, just the delivery stunk. The story is first rate, top notch. Diana Rigg (thumpa thumpa thumpa ) is still my #1 Bond girl after Aki (YOLT). Savalas was the perfect Blofeld, and Irma Bunt was chilling. Plot, script and scenery was perfect. I hate to say this but Lazenby's dialog seemed about as emotional as Stephen Hawkings computerized voice, devoid of inflection. Other than that, there is much to love about this movie, even the plot is relevant to today. Bioterrorism may be the horror scenario of the new millenium. Perhaps a remake of OHMSS would be in order.

Summary: The best of the series.
Review: I have always felt this to be the best film of the series. The other two would be "From Russia With Love" and "Goldfinger". Lazenby is not bad as Bond although coming after Connery did not help. I think he would have made a credible Bond if he had continued. He certainly was better than Moore or Dalton. It does not take a Shakespearean actor to play Bond. This film has something for everyone, Action, Suspense, Romance, and a touching poignant ending.
