Summary: Not Realistic Enough!
Review: Where's the fire?The Towering Inferno would've / should've / could've been a great film had it spent more time focusing on the fire department's battle against the conflagration. More effort should have been put into showing people the nightmare a large city fire department faces in taking on a fire in a skyscraper. With more effort on the fire sequences, and less time on trivial sub-plots & rediculous action sequences by non-fire fighters, TTI would've been a spectacular film. Maybe someday, somebody will want to take a shot at doing a remake that would do justice to any fire department's worst nightmare!

Summary: The best 70's disaster movie!
Review: The Towerin Inferno is a very suspensefull and well directed movie. Steve McQueen is awsome as the fire fighter. Sinatra, is goo but he basically plays himself, i.e., an old snob whom drinks coctails. To see O.J. Simpson rescue a cat is a bit weird though.

Summary: Towering Excitement
Review: Somehow this movie features both camp fun and a genuine story, thrills and chills.The opening sequence is incredible. And for the most part, the movie gets better as it goes along. Sure the story bogs down a little here and there, but whats amazing is that a movie that is so FX heavy has a story at all, let alone a fairly engaging one. The sub-plots are well done, effects are fantastic, AND you get to see Newman and McQueen work together.Among the best of the disaster films , Towering Inferno has something for everyone.

Summary: The Towering Inferno
Review: Well finally after watching the laserdisc version this DVD release is far superior than ever. The sound and picture quality is sharper and more define. A disaster movie worth having in your DVD libary, big star cast and it's presented in it's original 2.35:1 widescreen ratio. Remastered in THX and was filmed in the Panavision scope ratio. A true disaster classic but I think it's too long and boring a times. Forget the script just goes for the special effects as they still stand out superior than ever. The Dolby Pro Logic sound is more envoloping than ever with more directional sound and full surround sound.

Review: Face it. If you love 1970's diaster films, you'll get a giant kick out of this entry. Starring many "major" stars of the day...it has it all. Anticipating who's going to get it next is why we love these movies right...so you won't be let down. However, find the video that is letterboxed, because you really loose the "grandeur" of the moment without it. Besides the opening helicopter sequence looks so much better! Its a movie you can watch over and over again...like all the great disaster flicks!

Summary: Let's have a barbecue!
Review: The highwater mark of the late Irwin Allen's filmmaking career. This is another one of those high-budget, all-star cast disaster flicks of the seventies; but many can say it's the best. Great cinematography and special effects make this film a great attention getter and retainer. It teaches a great lesson on just how a little carelessness and negligence can go a long way.

Summary: A Classic Saga of Adventure and of Love
Review: I have seen this movie at least 2 dozen times in my 28 years of life. I never get tired of it. It has adventure, it has PAUL NEWMAN, it has STEVE MCQUEEN, it brings thrills and tears. I loved the drama, the intensity, the wickedness of Richard Chamberlain. I still consider this movie one of my favorites. I will never grow tired of it & I praise Amazon.com for carrying this title. I have been searching for years. Kudos!

Review: Steve McQueen and Paul Newman star in this first class disaster film.Newman plays the architect of the tallest building in the world, when it goes on fire trapping guests on the top floor due to faults in the building, they to call in the fire-chief of San Francisgo, no other then Steve McQueen. Watch out for the elevator scene.
