Summary: Old Movies Getting New Movie Treatment!
Review: I am a huge fan of Doris and Rock's movies, so I was instantly attracted to this good deal. I do not regret my purchase one bit. First, about the packaging.I have never seen such attractive packaging for classic movies before. The box opens up and you find a separate box containing the discs. It folds out and you are welcomed with a full photo from Pillow Talk. Then it folds open again and reveals the dvds. There is a pocket for the Doris Day music cd, which contains eight songs from her movies, a pocket for Pillow Talk, with a scene from Pillow Talk on the background of the pocket, a pocket for Lover Come Back with a scene as well, and also Send Me No Flowers. The pictures are vivid and romantic, really portraying the type of movies Doris and Rock were known for. The only gripe I really have, is that there are no keep cases (the boxes you usually buy dvd's in), only the pockets so extra care has to be given so that they don't get scratched. Now onto the dvd's themselves. No changes have been made to the dvd's other than that Lover Come Back is new to dvd. I am still not crazy about the quality of the picture, being that it is a dvd. However, I do appreciate that the movies are seen in widescreen, which in my opinion gives it the edge of the vhs versions. Looking at the overall presentation, this collector's set is the best dvd deal I have seen in a long time. The attractive, unusual packaging, the fact that you get three dvd's and a cd for just over $20 cannot be beat. Grab this up while you can, it will make a great addition to anyone's dvd collection young or old.

Summary: The 1 Star is For the Botched Pillow Talk DVD!
Review: I bought this Doris Day and Rock Hudson movie DVD boxset. Pillow Talk is my favorite of the movies that Rock and Doris made together, my second favorite is Lover Come Back and then Send Me No Flowers. I'm pleased with the anamorphic widescreen transfers for Lover Come Back and Send Me No Flowers but I'm very disappointed with the new anamorphic widescreen DVD for Pillow Talk, it is badly botched with horrible misframings of several scenes and the wider the TV screen is the more noticeable the misframing flaws are. I would have liked if all three movies came with their own DVD cases and I wish the music CD also included the song Roly Poly from Pillow Talk but those things are so minor compared to the misframing problems with the Pillow Talk DVD. Look up the reviews for the individual Pillow Talk DVDs and you will see that I'm not the only fan who is unhappy about the flawed DVD! Pillow Talk is set in New York and about a man named Brad Allen who pretends to be a visitor from Texas named Rex Stetson so he can get away with wooing a woman named Jan Morrow because if she knew who he really was she would tell him to get lost! She has never met Brad but had heard his voice on the phone because they share a telephone partyline and they got into a tif about his hogging the line so that is why when he sees her in a night club and sees how attractive she is he puts on an accent and pretends to be a tourist from Texas. In Lover Come Back once again Rock is playing a guy who pretends to be someone else. This time Rock and Doris play rival Madison Avenue advertising executives and once again has Rock Hudson's character tricking Doris Day's character by pretending to be someone else and in Send Me No Flowers Rock Hudson plays George a hypochondriac who overhears his doctor talking about another patient who is dying and mistakenly think he is talking about him so he thinks he has to find his wife Judy played by Doris Day a new husband which leads to even more misunderstandings when she gets suspicious and thinks he is having an affair. Tony Randall costars in all three of the movies and in Lover Come Back one of the other co stars is Ann B. Davis who played Alice in the Brady Bunch.

Summary: Wonderful!!!!!!
Review: I enjoyed watching these three movies again. I think they were one of the most sucessful pairing in Hollywood history. I am a huge fan of both artists. It is sad to think that it will be 20 years ago this year that Rock Hudson left us and that Doris Day retired so long ago. I will cherish this collection forever. They don't make good simple romantic comedies like these anymore. It's too bad!

Summary: A Very Good Boxset!
Review: I love the movies that Doris Day and Rock Hudson made together and they had so much on screen chemistry that I wish they had made more than three movies together! When I found out about this box set I bought it and watched all three movies and my favorite is Pillow Talk and my second favorite is Lover Come Back, I also like Send Me No Flowers but I personally prefer the other two. BTW: I was one of the customers who bought this set when it was first released, the one that contained the defective Pillow Talk DVD and I found out by reading these reviews about Universal offering replacement DVDs and I contacted them and they sent me an envelope to send back that DVD and when they received it they sent me the replacement DVD which is very good and doesn't have the misframing defects of the botched DVD and the The boxsets being sold now all have the fixed DVD.

Summary: Pretty & Playful In Pink!
Review: Rock and Doris are at it in this very, very nicely packaged box set which includes three of their best -- though I do wish The Pajama Game had been included in it as well. Doris Day was the girl next door version of Marilyn Monroe -- all the sex-bomb appeal but in a perky, button-nosed, wardrobe-to-be-envied way -- and Rock could certainly play the ladies' man quite convincingly, in spite of his real life proclivities. Who could resist that tall, cool, dark drink of water? Not Doris nor, apparently, I. Like Cary Grant on a lazy Saturday summer afternoon, Rock has the casual, American elegance that makes a gal melt -- even when he's otherwise unavailable. Sigh. This set's a romp, totally worth the price, and the CD is a tasty extra! After I'd seen Down With Love (the Renee Zellwegger/Ewan McGregor movie of 2003), I bought this and realized what great source material Down With Love drew on ... Ewan as the new Rock? I'll take that! On second thought, I'll take a six pack of that!

Summary: Great entertainment
Review: Rock Hudson, Doris Day and Tony Randall made a memorable team in this trilogy of romantic comedies made between 1959 and 1964. Day and Hudson always played the (would-be) lovers; Randall was always the spare-part/best friend, a role that suited him.
In Pillow Talk, the best of the series, Day is a New York designer forced to share a party-line with womanizer Hudson. He takes a shine to her, and poses as a Texas rancher to try and woo her. Witty stuff, brilliantly scripted and acted, not forgetting Thelma Ritter, who won an Oscar for her hilarious performance as Day's drunken maid.
Lover Come Back hasn't aged quite as well, but it too is a witty and entertaining vehicle for the trio. The story is a variation of the first film.
Send Me No Flowers is different in tone. This time, Day and Hudson are married; he's a hypochondriac who thinks he has only a few weeks to live, and tries to make the best of the rest of his life without her finding out. Tends to get panned by critics, but it's a funny, engaging film.

Review: The quality of the individual dvds in the Rock Hudson and Doris Day Romance Collection has already been covered by other reviewers, so my rating is based soley on this new packaging. In this boxed set you get three DVDs, Pillow Talk, Lover Come Back and Send Me No Flowers. Plus you get a bonus Doris Day Romance Collection music CD. The selections on the cd are Secret Love, Lover Come Back, High Hopes, Send Me No Flowers, Pillow Talk, Pretty Baby, Makin' Whoopee, and Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera). The dvds and cd come in a very nice pink box (looks like a present!) with a pink grosgrain ribbon to help you remove the fold out cardboard holder for the dvds. This is a really nice box set and you can't beat the price for 3 dvds and a music cd. I just wish the quality of the dvds was as good as the great packaging.

Review: This DVD Box Set Includes 3 DVD'S of Doris and Rocks 3 Rare Classics! Jan Morrow(Doris Day) shares a party line with a playboy Brad Allen (Rock Hudson) who seduces girls over the telephone when she reports it to the telephone company to the owner Mr.Conrad (Hayden Rorke) he sends a girl to check it out but when she gets to the door she falls madly in love with the man. This movie also stars Tony Randall as the other man who is Brads Boss but also has a crush on Jan this movie ends well with them getting married! Carol Templton (Doris Day) is an advertising agent who always is competing with playboy Jerry Webster (Rock Hudson) for accounts well after he stelas one important accoutn from them the Miller Wax Account. She then finds out that they are going to beeee getting a chance to do a new client the VIP account! She later learns that it doesn't excist but he ends up having a famous Professor invent the product! Dr. Linus Taylor (Jack KrusChen) is the Professor but Jerry impersonates him. This movie ends well with Carol and Jerry getting married! Well in their last movie together Rock and Doris have finally tied the knot! Judy Kimball (Doris Day), and George Kimball (Rock Hudson) are married and George is a hypochondriac. When George goes to his doctor Dr. Ralph Morrissey (Edward Andrews) he thinks that he is told that he will die soon! But the doctor is talking to someone else but he doesn't know! But he tries to find Judy a new wife for when he goes! Well Judy tries everything to get him hitched but nothing happens! There Problem gets solved! Their is also a CD enclosed with 8 of her most famous songs!
