Review: I just put this DVD in and haven't even watched it, but that will not stop me from giving this title a 1 - and that's only because they don't allow negative ratings! Mandatory COMMERCIALS that you cannot skip are completely and utterly unacceptable for any DVD I purchase. I'll wait in the future for reviews before I buy any DVDs...I like the movie, and the transfer looks ok from the first few minutes, its too bad I had to pay to watch a commerical...

It's very hard to find what reason UNIVERSAL found in re-releasing this film on DVD. The video quality is the same as in the last edition and the same pretty much goes also for the audio. All that this proves is how easy it is to make a buck by giving a new edition a colorful name.
UNIVERSAL has let customers down with their "improved" versions of this (classic) movie as well as SCARFACE but they can be sure we will remmember their record when their future releases come out! And regarding their forced commercials, they can rest assured some of us will simply refuse to buy whatever they advertise in this manner just by principle !

Review: I returned this DVD. Reason? Same as so many others. The commercials. Yes, you can fast forward through them, but what nerve from Universal! The only way they're going to stop doing this kind of thing is if we all become criminals and download movies illegally, OR deprive Universal of their money by not buying their products. I saw Animal House, I liked Animal House...but not enough to surrender my hard-earned cash for a DVD full of advertising and a snapcase full of coupons. That's a bum deal. Maybe if it cost $3.98 it might be a different story.

Summary: DVD Could Be Better but It's Better Than Video
Review: I'm a big SNL fan ever since it first aired on TV and when I was 10 years old and when I was 13 years old I went to see Animal House because John Belushi was in it and I thought he was wonderful as Bluto but I liked a lot of the other actors too including Tim, Matheson, Peter Riegert and Karen Allen. The movie is very funny and has some raunchy scenes but if you you don't get offended easily you should have no problem with it but you may not want to show it to that older relative, like that prudish aunt who is easily offened. The scenes with John Belushi are priceless, especially the cafeteria scenes and the party scenes! I just recently bought The Widescreen Double Secret Pobation DVD and yes it is annoying that you can't skip the commercials for those other movies at least it's only for a couple of minutes. Some reviewers who complained about the commercials made it look like it was going to be at least 30 minutes of adds and I'm relieved that it is only about 2 or 3 minutes though it would be nice to be able to have the choice to watch the commercials or skip them and I don't like how if you have to turn the DVD off before you have finished watching the movie that it doesn't begin where you left off and you have to watch the commercials again and go to scene sellection to find the scene you were watching when you had to turn the DVD off and I think they should have added a lot more special features like deleted scenes and bloopers, I'm sure they must have some wonderful deleted footage and outtakes with John Belushi that would have made this DVD outstanding! But anyway I think it's still better having this movie on DVD then my old Pan & Scan video with it's oversized clamshell packaging and despite the minor flaws with the DVD I'm not sorry I bought it.

Review: This is the ultimate college movie. Some of the best goofy character acting I've ever seen. I can see this one again and again and still laugh like it's the first time i've seen it. That frozen expression and gasping noise that that horse made when it died from the shock of a gun going off was priceless. Buy this dvd the next chance you get.
