Review: Anyone who calls Animal House sporadically funny should have his movie reviewers pass permanently revoked!Animal House is one of the funniest movies of the past 25 years. Granted it is not high-brow humor, but then again it was not meant to win an Oscar. The entire cast outdid itself in portraying a frat house run amok and set the standard for college parties.

Review: Far too sophisticated and complex for most people, this epic saga demonstrates the courage and intestinal fortitude needed to traverse that lonely bridge from adolesence to young adulthood. In it, our heroes experience everything from humiliation to degradation to physical pain. Racial tension is presented as just another obstacle en route to manhood. The issues of sexuality, drug and alcohol abuse, and subjugation by superiors, are not ignored. A tense courtroom scene midway through the story underscores the genius of modern film-making techniques. Brilliant!

Summary: A Hoot, Especially for Boomers
Review: My wife and I watched the 20th Anniversary cut recently and howled all the way through it. It's terrible that Doug Kenney left us when he did, because his attention to detail comes through in this movie time and again. This movie is kind of an extension of the National Lampoon's High School Yearbook, for those who recall that effort. If you wanna know what it was like, or be reminded of, being young and full of hormones in the early 60's, this is the place to look. It is a companion in many ways to American Graffitti. Rock and roll, wet-head haircuts, garter belts, overbearing college administrators, frats and sororities, beer busts, miniscule grade point averages, peaceniks and the draft board lurking in the background...it's all here.
