Summary: A Christmas MUST!
Review: The ORIGINAL "Christmas in Connecticut" is one of my favourite romantic comedies of all time, not just one of my favourite Christmas flicks. If you like "Sleepless in Seattle" or "While You Were Sleeping", you will love this movie. The cast is wonderful, and there is far more magic in the original than in the (in my opinion) lousy made-for-TV remake - Dyan Cannon was ok, but get Kris K off the screen! This movie is a pure gem, and definitely needs to be released on DVD - my videos keep wearing out!!!

Summary: This Old Christmas Classic feels new, even today
Review: This Christmas classic is quite reminiscent of Martha Stewart only with plenty of comic relief and good old fashioned romance. I highly recommend this movie to help get you in the mood for Christmas!

Summary: "Have you ever kissed a married woman?"
Review: This classic Christmas film is one of my favorite movies of all time! Barbara Stanwyck sizzles opposite Dennis Morgan, and Morgan proves he can sing great as well as act. One of my favorite characters in this is "Felix" the butler. This fun family classic has plenty of humor and romance and remains one of the most entertaining Christmas movies ever made. Every Christmas Eve, my family and I watch this movie, and we consider watching this one of the highlights of every Christmas! So if you have not yet discovered this great movie, I highly recommend it. I only hope it will be released on dvd soon.

Summary: Delightful Christmas story
Review: This classic is just that . . . A CLASSIC. It is do delightful in showing how versatile Barbara Stanwyck could be. It lets you drift back into the time where things were simple.

It is a MUST for Christmas and anytime viewing!

Summary: A SOMEWHAT LESSER KNOWN CLASSIC
Review: This movie has never gotten the run it deserves as a Holiday classic. It still shows up every season but never is mentioned in the same breath as some of the christmas films and that's a shame.

Journalist Elizabeth Lane (Stanwyck)is one of the country's most famous food writers ala Martha Stewart. In her columns, she describes herself as a hard working farm woman, taking care of her children and being an excellent cook. But this is all lies. In reality she is an umarried New Yorker who can't even boil an egg. The recipes come from her good friend Felix. The owner of the magazine (The wonderful Sidney Greenstreet) she works for has decided that a heroic sailor Jefferson Jones(Dennis Morgan)will spend his christmas on her farm. Miss Lane knows that her career is over if the truth comes out, but what can she do?

Barbara Stanwyck shines as Elizabeth, and is totally convincing as a city girl out of her element on the farm. Morgan also fares well as the somewhat naive sailor, whose trust in his fellow man is admirable. One of the true delights of this film, however, is Sidney Greenstreet. His Yardley has a gruff exterior, but beneath you know without a doubt that this is a man with a heart as big as Texas. It's a straightforward, honest portrayal, and it's a joy to watch him work; the most memorable scenes in the movie belong to him.

While it provides some good holiday warmth and cheer, this is, at its roots a classic Hollywood screwball comedy. A delightful, they-don't-make-em-like-this-anymore kind of film. Well performed by everyone and with an intelligent, witty script. Holds up for repeated viewings.

Summary: It Wouldn't Be Christmas Without It
Review: This one is right up there with Holiday Inn, Miracle on 34th Street, and The Bishop's Wife as must see every holiday. Yes, the plot is thin, but it's just plain fun to watch and is sure to get you in the holiday spirit. I own it on VHS and Laser but can not figure out why it has not be released on DVD. If Warner Brothers still owns the rights, I hope you will release it soon. It has been three years since I bought my DVD and have been waiting every Christmas since then for its release.

Summary: Michele's First Review
Review: This was a wonderfully comical and good hearted movie based on old fashioned values. It's a definite classic, in my opinion!! The first time I saw it was on Turner Classic Movies and I didn't know the title, and therefore really didn't know it was a Christmas movie. But it was absolutely funny, cute and a delight!!! It's nice to see them provide a soldier with a homey Christmas. This movie is romantic, funny, and best of all it's about Christmas!! I love Christmas movies.

Summary: Good old fashioned hokey fun
Review: We start every Christmas season by watching this movie. Sure, it's hokey, contrived, and uncharacteristic for Barbara, but it's so much fun watching her get flustered by everything, especially flipping pancakes and changing diapers. Plus you get to see a real live sleigh ride and hear Uncle Felix say "hunky dunky" many times. This movie should be more widely known. It's a relief from all the sugary Christmas movies, and of course true love wins out in the end.
