Review: I saw this movie in class. It isn't good. The most retarded part is when they keep talking about that stupid chair! And then when they have that "eerie" music they zoom in on it. P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C! The only good part is Grace Kelly!

Summary: Excellent version to one of the best pictures ever made
Review: I loved this version of High Noon. Wonderful performances all around. Excellent rendition of human nature. Actually, Cooper won his second Oscar for his performance. Maltin said, in the otherwise excellent documentary on the DVD, The Making Of High Noon, that Cooper won his only Oscar for High Noon. He's mistaken. Cooper won his first Oscar as best actor for Sergeant York. Other than that minor slip, the DVD version is definitely one to own.

Summary: American film doesn't get any better than this.
Review: I hate Westerns but love this film. It's tight and tough and edge-of-the-seat suspenseful. It's chilling to see Cooper as the man who stands up for his convictions in spite of the mob when in reality, and in only a short time, he would name names at the McCarthy trials. Kelly is not yet a polished actress, but is beautiful and moving. This is a rare example of a film, though from a formulaic genre, that has a story unlike any other of the time. It's truly one of the greats.

Review: High Noon is the powerful story of one man's courage and fortitude. It is a story best told in black and white, as the stark, colorless images permit the viewer to fully absorb the spectrum of primal emotions that are the foundation for this film. The music is haunting, the story pervasive. You will never forget this film.

Summary: The irony of his only compatriot being his Quaker wife.
Review: I found it hard to let this one go. The music is hypnotic--even the horses trot to the beat. You have to pay attention to catch all the nuances in this movie. The faces at the marshall's wedding are the same faces you see less than an hour later hiding from him or advising him to leave town. His wife could have been naive enough to think if he left town Frank Miller wouldn't come after him, but the townspeople knew Miller was vicious and vindictive. Could they really believe if he left town, he would be safe and so would their town? In the end, his wife was the only one with the courage and love to save him inspite of her personal history and beliefs. And I think she came to realize Kane was right and there was no other way to escape Frank Miller. I doubt she realized this before she acted, though. But what was the exchange between Kane and Helen Ramirez in Spanish when he came to warn her that Frank Miller was on the way?

Review: "High Noon", along with "Shane", can arguably be called the best westerns ever made. Both are that rare breed of film that never seems to age or get stale. As stated by everyone, "High Noon" plays out in almost real time, as a newly retired lawman (Gary Cooper) watches the clock and waits for a train that carries 3 men who have sworn to kill him. During his wait, he seeks out the townspeople for help, only to be turned down one by one. "High Noon" has always remained one of my favorite westerns, and after seeing this film, the tune 'Do Not Forsake Me' runs in my head for weeks. Between 1 and 10, this classic gets a 10.

Review: high noon is a story of a sheriff who has protected his town and the people for years.on the day he is leaving some gun men are returning to seek revenge on him.he knows he must stay.even if it means loosing his new wife. but when he needs help to defend his town they turn on him. gary cooper is at his best a great preformance.LON CHANEY JR puts in a fine preformance as well as LLOYD BRIDGES .while you are watching movie look for window airconditioner on second floor of bld.when COOPER runs down alley. also the dissapering child in the church scene when COOPER goes in to ask for help.fun to catch mastakes. look for more mastakes they are there.

Wilke, Sheb Wooley, Lee Van Cleef and Ian McDonald...all out to get Cooper Gary Cooper,s acting proves again that LESS is actually MORE...much more!

Summary: High Noon goes the distance
Review: One of the most riveting films ever made, High Noon keeps you on the edge of your seat. As it unbfolds in approximately real time, you get a real sense of the urgency and fear involved. As a pardoned murderer returns to settle a score, everything leads up to the arrival of the noon train and the ensuing climax. One of the first "adult westerns". It is unusual in its spareness and lack of frills. Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly give excellent performances and the supporting cast includes Lon Chaney (of Monster movie fame) and Harry Morgan (later Colonel Potter on the TV version of M*A*S*H). All in all an excellent film and well worth it.
