Summary: Classic!!!
Review: This is a great movie, surprisingly directed by Richard Donner of "Lethal Weapon" fame. Before the series merely became a burial ground for old acting careers, the first and best brought the chills on in full force. Thinking about it later, I was surprised at how few conventional horror "jump-in-your-seat" scenes occured (in fact, I think there was only one); the movie is a two-hour study in dread and a sense of impending doom, perfectly conveyed through the great acting and amazing score and cinematography. The widescreen Dolby version on laserdisc is really the best way to see the movie, but the remastered VHS listed here is as good as it gets in pan & scan.

Review: The best thing about this film is the way the writers cunningly keep the photographer in the background and then suddenly introduce him half way through as a significant character.His death scene is the best kill I've ever seen in a film.It'll scare the hell out of you!.This film will leave you nervous for weeks.Scarier than the Excercist.....and better.Unmissable!!!!

Summary: A CLASSIC THRILLER ONE NOT TO BE MISSED PERIOD!!!
Review: THE OMEN WITH GREGORY PECK, LEE REMICK and DAVID WARNER is a horror-suspense classic not to be missed it has great acting and story missing from too many of today's horror flicks. GREGORY PECK and LEE REMICK are fantastic as the parents of a seemingly innocent baby boy later toddler little do they know what his purpose in life is. The suspense begins to pick up early on when people who know or are connected to DAMIEN AMBASSADOR AND MR'S THORN'S son begin to have accidents are they fatal? I'm not giving away just watch and find out. Also DAVID WARNER is good as photojournalist who is investigating these accident's or so they seem to be he has an accident happen to him too but what happen's I'm not giving away either. Also watch DAMIEN'S replacement nanny she'll give anyone the creeps just watch her and you'll see what I mean . My advice is not to show this film to young kids it's way too intense but if you're an adult and love a great scare THE OMEN is something you must see you'll see why I feel this way.

Review: I think that the movie showed Gregory Peck trying to kill Damien at the end, but a cop thought Peck went nuts trying to kill a kid, so the cop shot him. I didn't know that in the book, Peck gets killed by a falling object. END

Review: WHEN I FIRST SAW THE OMEN I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE A REALLY GREAT FILM BUT IT WASN'T.IT DIDN'T HAVE SOME OF THE BITS I HEARD ABOUT: 1)DAMIEN WAS GOING TO ATTACK THE PRIEST THAT WAS BAPTISING HIM. 2)THE PRIEST THAT WAS TRYING TO WARN GREGORY PECK GOT KILLED WHEN A WOMAN OPENED HER WINDOW AND SOMETHING FELL ON HIM,INSTEAD HE GETS KILLED WHEN HE GOES TO THE CHURCH AND SOMETHING FALLS ON HIM AND SLICES HIM IN HALF! THE OMEN IS A GOOD FILM BUT IT COULD DEFENINATELY BE IMPROVED, LIKE AT THE MINUTE DAMIEN WAS BORN HE WOULD KNOW THAT HE WAS THE SON OF SATAN AND WHAT HIS MISSION WAS AND KILLING ANYONE THAT WAS IN HIS WAY.WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO REMASTER THE WHOLE FILM? Summary: Great Potential Gone To Waste
Review: Lacking the subtle creepy atmosphere and strong writing of both "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Exorcist", "The Omen" is a horror film with great potential that unfortunately, when played out, is nothing more than a mediocre horror tale with weak writing, unexplained plot elements, and shock moments that do little to actually shock the audience. The story is well known, therefore I will not go into detail in describing it but rather indicating what I found to be wrong with it. After viewing "The Omen", some questions immediately rose to mind: if Damien cannot stand to be on the grounds of a church (as demonstrated by the scene showing his panic while being driven to a Sunday mass), then why was he able to remain completely calm and undisturbed while temporarily being taken care of by nuns in a church as an infant (see the film's beginning)? Another question was how did the priest who set out to warn Gregory Peck's character about Damien's demonic roots know that the ambassador's wife was pregnant? How did he know she would be killed? Who exactly was the photographer following Gregory Peck? A friend of the family? And are animals scared of Damien (the baboons and giraffes at the zoo) or do they obey his command (the black dog)? Aside from these questions, another major flaw of the story was that the characters involved were quite unlikeable and two-dimensional, with no visible depth at all. I found myself quite indifferent to anything that happened to them, and this didn't help to get me involved with the already flatly-executed story. Overall, "The Omen" was a mediocre horror film that didn't come close being at all creepy or disturbing, and had too many glaring flaws to really be fully enjoyed. I'd recommend "Rosemary's Baby" or "The Exorcist", two film's dealing with similar demonic themes, strongly over "The Omen". For those of you who are horror fans interested in seeing it, don't expect much; in my opinion it doesn't come close to being a classic of the genre.As for the DVD features, the commentary on the disc comes off as just obnoxious and it seems that the director and editor spend more time trying to remember what occured when making the film in 1976 then actually commenting on it. The featurettes on the DVD are decent, and the theatrical trailer is extremely unflattering but interesting to see for its old-fashioned style.

Summary: My Dad Can Beat Up Your Dad!
Review: Kathy Thorn (Lee Remick) really wanted a child. Unfortunately, she lost her baby during the delivery. Not to worry! She's unconscious and knows nothing of the stillbirth. Her husband Robert (Gregory Peck) has just been offered another child by a priest. Robert accepts the infant boy, never telling his wife that he's not hers. Big mistake! They name the kid Damien. Little Damien starts growing up, and weird things begin happening! His nanny hangs herself on his 5th birthday. A new, creepy nanny named Mrs. Baylock moves in, seemingly from out of nowhere. A strange priest starts following Robert, talking about crazy prophetic stuff. Damien goes berzerk at a church. The baboons at the zoo go berzerk after catching a mere glimpse of Damien. A rotweiler (aka: devil doggy) is brought in by Mrs. Baylock to guard Damien. Ah yes, typical family life! Meanwhile, Robert meets a photographer (David Warner) who has some odd pictures to show him. The two join forces to get to the bottom of Damien's true identity. This leads to unexplained deaths and bizarre coincidences. Just who is Damien's real daddy? Will anyone survive Damien's teen years?? A definite classic of evil dread...

Review: The Exorcist is NOTHING compared to The Omen! This film is CREEPY, TERRIFYING, UNSETTLING, UNPREDICTABLE & JUST FLAT-OUT SCARY!!! Especially the hanging window smash scene.

Summary: Very clever horror
Review: This is one of my favorite horror movies. It's got plenty of scares but it's real power lies in it's sense of dread and that creepy music. The Thornes have been set up and the whole movie is a race to see if they will figure it out in time.
You can watch the movie over and over again and notice different little things each time. Having Kathy Thorne be emotionally unstable was a very nice touch. Her instincts tell her that something is wrong with Damien but because of her previous worries she figures it's just in her mind.
It was also interesting how Damien goes after the weakest members of the family first: Kathy and her unborn baby. His terribly violent attack on Kathy at the church and the horrified expressions of the onlookers were brilliantly filmed. The trip to the zoo was a great scene too. Notice how all animals except the demonic dogs flip out in the presence of the little boy?
The movie also drops subtle hints that lil' Damien knows what he is. The way he interacts with the nanny, the dog and how once the nanny moves in his attitude towards mommy seems to change and his last words to Robert Thorne seem like an attempt to manipulate him and of course, there's the famous last scene and his big smile while looking triumphantly into the camera.
Another nice touch: Thorne and the reporter quickly become real friends, something that Thorne desperately needs. You actually like the reporter (despite those clothes and that hellified haircut)and are sorry to see him get dispatched. The trip to the cemetary is a great section. It has very little gore. The horror is in the ugliness and ruin of the cemetary, it's in the way the moonlight shines on the two skeletons, the expression on the reporter's face when he looks up and sees the dogs and in the pain in Thorne's voice.
Later he finds out about Kathy's last dive at the hospital and momentarily crumbles. Everything he loved is dead in the cemetary or dead in London. His logical ordered world has just gone to hell.
Okay, there are some tiny little flaws. England hasn't been a really important ally for decades but being ambassador there is sitll a big deal. How could the devil nanny dismiss the entire staff of the ambassador's residence without it being in the newspapers? In real life Cleo Noel, ambassador to Sudan was murdered a few years earlier. No US ambassador could traipse around unnoticed and without security the way Thorne does. I'm assuming he was able to carry the knives on the plane becuase of his diplomatic ID but surely not on his lap? There should have been a scene with other passengers looking at him nervously.
Those are little nitpicks and they don't really affect the movie. Enjoy. Omen is just as creepy now as it ever was.
