Review: The quality of the picture and sound is EXTREMELY poor. It's as though someone were standing in the studio with a camcorder filming what was going on. I gave this one star because I didn't have the option of giving it zero stars. Thumbs down due to quality.

Review: The recent DVD's released (including this one) is a total waste of money and is garbage. WHY THE HELL DID YOU CHANGE THE THEME MUSIC????? The theme music on this dvd is a stupid cheesy midi keyboard version of the original. The picture quality is not what you would expect, plus, unless you have a digital audio converter, forget about the audio. I ask (no beg) the studio gods to please just start over and release the Andy Griffith series based on the full seasons as a DVD box set. I hate how they have taken an episode here and there and put these dvd together. They've done it for I LOVE LUCY, and other tv shows, what is the problem regarding the Andy Griffith show?

Review: This DVD isn't that bad, but not exactly perfect. The video quality would get 8/10 and the sound quality 7/10. The audio would often go up and down several times. Review: This is absolutely the worst quality DVD I have ever seen. The soundtrack pops and rumbles like an old LP record. The video is grainy and jumpy. Even the trademark theme music is occasionally replaced by a pathetic MIDI soundtrack. Avoid at all costs...

Interestingly, all these episodes are from the 1962-63 season, and they comprise the entire latter part of that season-every episode from 1/21/63 to 5/6/63! The only complaint that I could make is that it would have been easy to place the episodes in chronological order. But all the PD material available is here to enjoy.

Summary: Antenna quality- Can anyone do any better????? PLEASE
Review: This particular DVD set is NOT of very good quality. But being a true TAGS fan, I'll take what I can get. I still LOVE watching the hilarious comedy while overlooking the poor picture and sound. It's true what they say "You get what you pay for", this set's quality matches the price. For now, this is about the best you can get, if you are willing to overlook the quality. Just pretend it's 1963. It's about the same quality sound and picture as back then, if you had good antenna reception.
But can anyone do any better? PLEASE
Some years ago a company put out the Andy Griffith Show on VHS, four episodes per tape. (Great Quality)
It's time for them to do the same on DVD. PLEASE?

Summary: Please start over and do it right.
Review: When I purchased this DVD, I brought it home and put it in the player with eager anticipation. "What a great deal", I thought, "$... for 16 awesome episodes of this classic series!"... Boy, was I disappointed. What a let-down! The video quality is poor, but the most disappointing thing of all is that the original theme music has vanished!!! I sat in disbelief as I saw Andy and Opie walking and skipping stones to some campy, MIDI-generated, "we're not going to waste money to buy the original music" theme song. The show's contents are, in my opinion, heavily damaged by this musical compromise. To me, it isn't worth owning. I gave my copy away..... It seems that some people are completely satisfied with "collections" like these, noting that "the music doesn't matter, it's the shows that count." I say this: The theme music is an INTEGRAL part of the mood of this whole series, as many people will attest, and therefore IS the show. C'mon, if relatively new shows like "Friends" and "Mad About You" can be released properly (i.e., entire uncut seasons in a set), why can't we have a GOOD, definitive collection of this perennial classic? By the way: in retrospective, I would gladly have paid a couple of dollars more for this set had I known that the original theme was intact!
