Review: I first saw the movie when I was 8 years old, on a cold, rainy Washington day. My mother made cookies, and my brother and I watched it. I love this movie, it is a classic. I even have the sound track. A must buy!

Review: Only Singin' In the Rain equals this. Other musicals have great sequences, but "Seven Brides" is great from start to finish. Every Song is fantastic and the physical choreography is the best in any musical!

Review: The movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is an excellent, fun, family movie with singing, dancing, romance, and even some action. It tells the story of seven brothers who all live together way out in the country. When the eldest brother, Adam, comes home from town one day with a wife, the other six brothers decide they want brides too. They have to battle the townsmen, however, who have already "spoken for the girls." This movie is full of fun and laughs, and I would highly recommend it.

Review: A flawless restoration of this MGM musical classic, the two-disc edition of 'Seven Brides' is the one to own. The print is pristine, the colors are vivid (especially during the barn dance), and the extra features include the rarely-seen 1:77:1 alternate filming (a common practice in the early days of widescreen cinematography). The athletic dance sequences are the heart of the film, with Michael Kidd's choreography helping to turn these barbaric backwoodsmen into high-steppin' lumberjacks, and Tommy Rall, Russ Tamblyn and the rest of the brothers kick it up in brightly-colored shirts almost certainly never worn in the real Oregon wilderness. Jane Powell and Howard Keel relish their screen time together, and the rest of the cast performs with precision and highly impressive dance technique (The 'Lonesome Polecats' number and the Barn Dance being the film's highlights). This is one of MGM's last great films, and one of the finest screen musicals ever made.
