Review: The great comedic epic film. This is a showcase for the talents of nearly all the great comics alive at that time. This movie is thoroughly entertaining from beginning to end and should hopefully be around with us for many years to come.

Review: I remember the first time I saw this movie.It was late one night and I stumbled across this film while searching channels for something to watch.I was truly in stitches laughing at certain scenes,like when Buddy Hackett and Mickey Rooney are in the Airplane and they have to try to fly it themselves.I guess one of the things that really left an impression of this film on me was the incredible cast list!It seemed that everybody who was someobody in comedy during the time period was in it.I rented it a couple weeks later and had my Mom and Dad and Sister watch it with me.It became a family favorite.I recommend this movie to anyone who likes to just sit down,unwind,watch a movie and have a chance to sit and laugh a little (or a lot)!

Review: A brilliant farce and parable on our ever-present sense of greed! Beyond the classic scenes mentioned previously, Jonathan Winters' demolition of Arnold Stang's and Marvin Kaplan's gas station is a howler; the late Paul Ford (as blustery as ever) trying to talk Rooney and Hackett down in that plane with Carl Reiner and a very digusted Jesse White ("Why not just shoot 'em down and get it over with?") as witnesses - not to mention The Three Stooges as awaiting firemen (leaving you to imagine Lord knows what after the camera left the airfield); and an all too short farewell performance by the late, great Buster Keaton as Jimmy: trying to direct traffic between a fleeing Tracy and the angry treasure-hunters. Touching. Add the perfectly orchestrated Ernest Gold film score and this is an unforgettable comedy classic!

Summary: A Funny Piece of Comedy History
Review: Despite the poor reviews this film has received over the years, it remains a significant piece of America film making history. Stanley Kramer assembled a who's who in comedy history and set out to make the comedy to end all comedies. While some of it is a bit over the top, overall it is a thoroughly enjoyable, and often very funny, movie. It has been criticized for it's length but that's half the fun. It does go on and on and on, as it continues to get more preposterous. That's the whole point. By the time you get to the intermission, you need the break! We are lucky to have a film in which all of these comedy legends appeared. It truly is a film classic.

Summary: It is sooooo funny and soooo hiliarious.
Review: I love the part about the guy (Bobby Shawn) is very upset about his silly mommy. I like another part about firetruck coming and get the men out of the old building, but it send them flying around and throwing them everywhere. I also like part about Mickey and Buddy riding in the airport and they flied through the billboard. That is very funny. I am glad that I bought the video. I like Milton Berle, Sid Caesar and others they all are too funny. This movie is so wonderful comedy.

Summary: The 'TEN COMMANDMENTS" of movie comedies.
Review: Many have tried ("THE GREAT RACE" comes to mind) but its doubtfull if anyone out there will ever match the magic of 'MAD WORLD". This go for broke epic comedy set the standards on how to make a spectacle. Stanley Kramer a man not normally known for making us laugh really knew how to hit the funnybone in his maiden comedy. William and Tania Rose's scripit slowly sets the stage for almost 3 hours worth of non-stop laughter and a little morality message too. Technical credits are top notch and there's not a lazy performance to be found. Everyone gives 100%. Currently this is longest version of "MAD WORLD" available. Hopefully, one day the original 210 minute version will become available complete with "radio reports" and additional deleted sequences. Can't recommend this film highly enough. Great fun for youg and old alike.

Review: It doesn't get any bigger or better or funnier or faster than this. To describe this movie would be a disservice, a useless exercise, an endless review, since it's just too complicated for words. Suffice it to say that it's the best movie ever made about a treasure hunt, a who's who of the cinema's greatest comedic actors careening across the American landscape by air and car, all insanely intent on being the first the find the "big W" and the big pay-off. This was real talent, with hysterical performances by Dick Shawn ("MOMMA! I'm coming to get ya!!), Ethel Merman ("You're just like your father, a big stupid, muscled-headed moron!!"), Phil Silvers ("Down there! You want me to drive down there!!"), Terry Thomas ("It's all very hush hush and hoosh hoosh."), Buddy Hackett ("Who are you, the hostess?!"), Sid Ceasar ("We on fire!!"), Jim Backus ("Fix me another Old Fashioned, and don't make 'em so sweet this time."), and best of all, Jonathan Winters, as the truck driver ("Uh huh. Trying to leave the big boy behind!") and on and on and on. My family and I know all the lines to this gem, which makes us seem nuts to outsiders, but I think there are more of us true believers out there. Now, if you'll excuse me, I gotta get this truckload of furniture to Yuma.

Summary: The best treasure chase movie ever made!
Review: From the moment the car "just went sailing out", I was in stitches. This film is an absolute classic, and its a shame nothing similar has been done. The opening animation and soundtrack gives you an idea of how manic it is. My favourite part has to be Phil Silvers struggling to make his way back to the road. Brilliant!

Summary: The unrivalled king of comedy movies!
Review: This film is just the business! Basically it is totally hilarious, and never lets up despite an exceptionally long running time. Stanley Kramer determined to cram as many comedians as he could muster into this, and what an impressive job he did (if only he could have persuaded Stan Laurel to come out of retirement, what a swansong it would have been for this legend). With so much talent, it may have been tempting for some of the actors to be a bit lazy, or on the other hand go TOO far in order to outact the rest. As things turned out they all handed in marvelous performances, notably Jonathan Winters, Milton Berle, Terry-Thomas and Phil Silvers. The stand-out though, (and in the face of such stiff competition what an achievement), is Ethel Merman, who is responsible for about half the many laughs to be had. The actual star, (as everyone else suffers the indignity of alphabetical listing), is Spencer Tracy, reliable as ever in his penultimate film. I find it extraordinary that documentaries on this fine actor tend to completely ignore this film, which in my opinion is all but the best film ever made in any genre. Ignore the critics who say this film is overlong, how can you have too much enjoyment? Also ok the stunt work is amazing and prolific, but to imply the stunt people steal the show is rediculous, they only help to enhance what is an all-round immaculate and hilarious entertainment. If you want to die laughing, this is the way to go!!!
