Summary: The best madcap chase movie ever
Review: I have fond memories of this great 60's madcap comedy. I saw it when I was 9 years old in the original Cinerama format, and it continues to amaze me with it's brilliantly funny cast and script. It is definitely true that Hollywood doesn't make 'em like this anymore. Imagine a present day movie with all of the pre-eminant comedy stars of their day plugged into one action-filled chase/treasure hunt spanning miles of beautiful California landscape, and never letting up for a minute! The critics who say the movie is too long apparently haven't been paying attention to the comedy, because once you're immersed in the mayhem you're hooked. The minutes then fly by. I saw the full 210 minute version on Turner Classics but did not catch the whole thing; I hope they replay it sometime. In the meantime I highly recommend the shorter version curently on video.

Summary: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
Review: I saw this at Cinerama in Hollywood when it came out. I was twelve and it was funny then and it is funny now. I always thought it helped to recognize all of the famous comics-including Buster Keaton- in their cameo roles, but I was surprised to learn even non English speakers find it hilarious. I showed the tape to some visitors from Asia and some from Europe who had very limited English skills. What I got was 2 1/2 hours of hysteria. What a surprise! I wish they would release it again in Cinerama!

Summary: The King Of All Chase Movies
Review: This film set the standard for chase movies for decades to come. I saw IAMMMMW in the theater when it premiered, and I remember the way the audience laughed and laughed- for nearly the whole 2+ hours. No one had seen a comedy like this before, and we were blown away by its epic proportions. I watch this film about once every other year, and find myself cracking up all over again at the classic scenes: Jack Benny's pouting cameo; Phil Silvers being swindled by a small child; the airplane flying through the billboard; Sid Caesar beating a metal door with a pickaxe (while in an insane rage); Jonathan Winters riding a little girls bike down the lonely highway. The film is a classic whose likes we'll never see again. It has been the inspiration for countless movie and TV chases, as well as the definitive example of ensemble acting at it's best. Do yourself a favor and at least rent this film once. You'll want to see it again and again- and then wonder like I have about when it's going to be released in DVD format.

Summary: My All-Time Favorite...
Review: This movie is my all-time favorite. Made the year I was born, IMMMMW is high octane fun and high speed hilarity! This movie is concerned with one thing...having a good laugh. It never takes itself seriously and isn't afraid to go "out on a limb" for every gag and routine in the book. A must for anyone who wants to sit back and be thoroughly entertained by some of Hollywood's greatest. Thanks John for sending me this movie as a gift.

Summary: A Timeless Comedy
Review: This will always be one of my all-time favorite comedies. I have watched it over two dozen times and it never grows old. I introduced this movie to my pre-school children over 20 years ago and still enjoy reciting the dialogue along with them today. This is a great movie to share with your family or just to enjoy alone on a rainy afternoon.

There will never again be a comedic cast like this...Tracy, Caesar, Winters, Merman, Hackett, Rooney, Berle, Terry-Thomas, Rochester...and cameos by Jimmy Durante, Buster Keaton, the 3 Stooges, Jack Benny, Don Knotts, and Jerry Lewis. The magical moments seem endless...three fantastic car chase sequences...an airplane sequence with Rooney and Hackett...the gas station sequence with Winters...the hardware store sequence with Caesar and Edie Adams...and on, and on, and on.

If you are looking for a movie that will make you laugh and smile and escape life's concerns...this is it !

Summary: This Movie changed my life...
Review: In 1976, I was watching TV and It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World came on. Halfway through it, I turned to my friends and said, "hey, let's make a movie". I now have my own Production Company, producing Medical and Corporate Videos, so I can honestly say that: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, changed my life. There are times when it is silly, but it's pure escapism.

Summary: THE RIDE OF THE CENTURY!
Review: YOU KNOW THAT THERE HAVE BEEN COUNTLESS CAR-CHASE MOVIES. MOST OF THEM WERE GOOD AND MOST OF THEM WERE BAD. HOWEVER, IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD IS AT THE TOP (OR PRETTY DAMN NEAR IT) OF THE LIST>> NOT ONLY WITH "CAR CHASE" MOVIES, BUT THE ENTIRE MOVIE PRODUCTION ERA. SOME PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE "PROFANITY." NAME ONE MOVIE , NOT A CARTOON, THAT THEY DON'T SAY A SIMPLE WORD LIKE HELL? THIS MOVIE HAS ONE OF THE CRAZIEST AND MOST ENJOYABLE PLOTS. ALMOST REMINDS ME OF "THE GOD'S MUST BE CRAZY." THEY BOTH HAVE MULTIPLE STORIES THAT REVOLVE AROUND ONE PLOT. DO NOT PASS THIS BY ON THE MOVIE RACK! IF YOU SEE IT, GET IT. YOU WILL LOVE THE SLAPSTICK COMEDY AND THE FUNNY FACES THAT WILL MAKE THIS A TIMELESS CLASSIC. TOO BAD IT ONLY WON THE OSCAR FOR SOUND AND NOT ALSO PICTURE.

Summary: They Don't Make Movies Like This Anymore !
Review: I have seen this movie a minimum of 20 times since its release in 1963. My sister from Florida and I can recite every line of dialogue by heart and once when it was shown on tv we watched it while on the phone long-distance, just to share each and every hysterically funny moment together. Ethel Merman is side-splitting when Terry Thomas and Milton Berle try to get the car keys out of the bosom of her dress. When Buddy Hackett says to the group "okay then - it's decided - every man for himself - except for YOU lady, (pointing to Ethel Merman) may you just DROP DEAD ! " There are too many funny moments to repeat here, but suffice it to say that this movie is time well-spent. I guarantee you that even up to the last 30 seconds of the movie you will be laughing. The only movie I've ever seen that compares to this one might be "The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming". If you're tired of the filth, bad language and violence of movies today - rent this movie and take a step back into the past where movies were meant to ENTERTAIN !

Summary: Absolutely Fabulous
Review: I can't recommend this film highly enough. An essay on comedy authored by Stanley Kramer couldn't be better presented. The only missing players were Bob Hope, Groucho Marx, and Lucille Ball. As for profanity, this was the first comedy picture to use the phrases,"What the hell...?",and, "How in the hell...?" So, if that language is too strong, avoid it, by all means. If not, sit back and enjoy the show!
