Summary: A wonderful comedy about traditional enemies. A must-see!
Review: When a Russian submarine captain wants to "look" at America, the sub grounds. The ensuing errors, great lines, excellent physical comedy, and a great cast make this film a terrific choice for anyone who loves to laugh.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Perhaps good at the time, but simply horrible now!
Review: With a cast that could have made this movie into something memorable, its a shame that a terrible script ruined it for everyone, actors and viewers. Carl Reiner, one of the funniest men going at the time is simply bland and trite. After ten minutes of his pithy dialogue he becomes something of an annoyance. Likewise, Jonathan Winters suffers this same fate. Alan Arkin seems to be the only actor working with any substance here, although his performance was little more than overated. It appears as though the makers of this film believed that they could escape their mundane script with refreshing faces. Great star power could not save this clunker.

Summary: Leonard Maltin is Full of it
Review: Yes, the film is somewhat dated in this post-Cold War era but it is still a very funny and enjoyable romp. Excellent performances by Carl Reiner, Alan Arkin, Jonathan Winters, and Brian Keith make this a memorable film. Sorry, Mr. Maltin, the film wasn't overrated in 1966 and it remains an extremely watchable film.
