Review: I became a huge Jimmy Stewart fan when he died because they gave all his movies on TCM. I saw this movie and it made me feel so warm inside and happy to be alive. I appreciate these great classic movies even though I'm only 17 and I think everybody should buy these movies especially if they're Jimmy Stewart movies.

Summary: A classic film that will live forever.
Review: This film will never die as people always have been (and always will be) interested in a man named Elwood P. Dowd. He adds sincerity and honesty to a world of cynics. He is not a threat even to himself and to the ruling society being ever so pleasant about such a matter is given the name of madness. Personally I think everyone should have a six-foot three and a half inch tall invisible friend as then they would remember that you can't take life too seriously or you might shrivel up and become an accountant.

Review: Have you ever wondered what would have happened if Christopher Robin didn't leave Hundred Acre Wood? Well, Harvey, or more correctly, Elwood P. Dowd will show you. Elwood is a man of simplicity, doing what he enjoys, and making friends all along the way. In the end, he reminds us that it isn't the destination but the travel to it that's important. This movie is a feel-good "must see".

Summary: Living in truth
Review: One of the few movies ever that looks directly into the soul of a person, this movie helps us see that perspective is everything. If Elwood had continued to live as something he was not, he would have never discovered that inside all of us is the beauty of our sense of whimsy and grace. Elwood enjoys his life and is not afraid of being who he really is. He accepts himself and those around him. His delightful and scatter-brain sister keeps trying to make life make sense and have it be structured. She represents us all. We want things to be the way they should be, not as they are. Most of the other characters are doing the same. They are running about at a frenetic and frenzied pace trying to make life work, while Elwood simply lets it happen. The opening scene is one where Elwood tears up a letter and instead connects with the real person giving it to him. Throughout the movie he connects with people on a real and human level. He often smells the flowers----quite a lesson for us all.

Summary: Still a Delight After 50 Years
Review: Jimmy Stewart's Elwood P. Dowd remains one of the most likeable characters. Why shouldn't he be? He's a "Hello Mr. Wilson" kind of fellow who attracted a Pooka as a friend."Harvey," that innocuous, but rascal rabbit who is Elwood's best friend is a complex figment of Elwood's dreams and lack of clear sobriety. Or is Harvey an invisible rabbit, as genuine as you and I, except large and furry, um... and unseen? You'll need to choose. In one of the most family friendly, yet delightful movies (with a taste of romance), Stewart is a nice guy. Very friendly and about town, he is in some ways the same core person in "Its A Wonderful Life." In one scene, when his pleasantness is pointed out, he responds something to the affect, "There are two kinds of people in this world: Smart people and pleasant people. For years, I was smart. I prefer pleasant." The question of insanity comes up quickly, and knowing who is sane and insane is not so simple (I can hear Homer Simpson's famous line in the background). Likewise, what counts as sight is a little fuzzy too. Stewart's intro is better than the usual throw-away intro. He brings insight as to how he played his role, why he looks up though he is the same height as the rabbit, and so forth. I fully recommend "Harvey." It is a movie safe enough to watch with your church group, funny enough to watch with your parents and romantic enough to watch on a date. Anthony Trendl
