Review: The movie version of Auntie Mame with Rosalind russel was just simply aweful. The acting was bad and the costumes were not accurate,Rosalind Russel was to much to watch.That only my opinion, But I wouldn't recommend this movie. Try lucille balls version of Mame [1974] its much better.

Review: "Auntie Mame" is a classic comedy that still gets me rolling whenever I revisit it. This film was a favorite of my mother who introduced it to my sisters and me at a very young age. The comedy is incredibly dense and subtle-I certainly understand more and more of the film the older I get. It truly, as other reviewers have commented, puts many modern comedies to shame. One just doesn't find very many dialogue-driven comedies these days. This film succeeds through its rich character development of every character in the film. Even the minor parts are fully fleshed out and receive immaculate detail. The entire cast shines in this film, but Rosalind Russell's performance shines above everyone. This film is worth watching for her performance alone in the opening scene. Her character has the potential to explode over the top, but Russell reins the part beautifully and manages to create an incredibly dynamic character. With quick dialogue, intellectual comedy, low-brow humor delivered with wonderful sensitivity and subtlety, this film promises to reward all those who watch it for years to come.

Review: The first time I watched this movie in its entirety I almost died laughing. This comedy puts the nowadays ones to shame. It uses subtlety to convey the point without coming across as vulgar and distasteful. Rosalind Russell definately delivered the stuff.

Review: This film is perfection! It is very, very funny and also very sweet and very positive. Rosalind Russell is amazing in the title role. She has such amazing comic timing and such grand attitude - the success of this film is hers more than anything else. Great sets, costumes, witty screenplay, romance, schmaltz, and ENERGY. I could watch this film a million times and never get bored by it. If you haven't seen it - you are missing something great. If you don't own it, what are you waiting for? A true film classic.

Summary: Dennis Madness at it's Best!
Review: Patrick Dennis's great book is was made into a GREAT movie, and the DVD transfer looks spectacular. Forget Lucy in the horrible movie musical and revel in this one. Only complaint, almost no extras. A commentary track is needed.
They do include as an extra the trailer, as well as the trailer for Lucy's unwatchable "Mame", in which Lucille Ball is called "The most versatile actress of all time". It's the biggest laugh on the disc! They must have meant "Least versatile".

Review: No 'Ups 'n Downs' in this one! Strictly UP!!! One of the finest comedies ever! Ms.Russell is in top form. 'Mame' is positive proof that comedy can be side splitting without being vulgar. The restoration of this classic is first rate, with vibrant colors and perfect sound. Could find nothing that needed improvement. A bargain at any price.

"Auntie Mame's" color and sound are as vivid as they were when the film was first released in 1958 and Roz and company leap off the screen. This DVD is for a gift to "Auntie Mame" fans everywhere who have waited for quite a few years for their favorite comedy to be lovingly restored and released on DVD. Life is a banquet because the DVD "Auntie Mame" is here!
