Summary: An Eye Opener
Review: I feel as if this is one of the best movies of all time. Heston is at his best in a role that might very well be a glimpse into our own futures if we don't pay heed to over excess. Greed propels humanity into a destiny that is mind boggling and horrifying. A destiny where even things we take for absolute granted now are cherished treasures to be fought and even killed over. I've watched this movie several times and each time think of what I, as one person can do, to prevent such horrors from possibly happening.

Summary: Good Movie, but a sick feeling afterwards
Review: From the very beginning, you can tell what went wrong. We are greated with a brief photo-history of New York that is all great and clean and nice, until industry moves in. This brings cars, the most energy-wasteful and geometrically ineffecient thing invented, and hi-rises, which induces densities that are not natural for humans. The photos go color and we see New York circa '50s and '60s in all its hustle and bustle, subways, highways, Wall Street, Broadway, etc. Then, uh-oh, pollution goes from bad to worse and garbage accumulates faster and faster, notably cars and other cosumer trash. With land pollution getting bad, we are treated to snapshots of air pollution from factories and cars turning the sky from blue to white to brown to yellow and then green. Finally, we see people wearing masks (to protect lungs, not their indentity), getting violent, cops cracking down, and for some reason, New York is so desirable that people continue to migrate toward it. This means that (a) the rest of the nation is much worse than New York or (b) the government forces the evacuation of the countryside to maintain the food supply. The last photo we see before the film begins is Manhattan in all its hi-rise glory, covered in smog that would make L.A. and Houston today seem clean by comparison. Phew! This is just an analysis of the first few minutes of film, and the movie hasn't even begun. After the movie, you are left feeling sick. This can be many things. The color of the film is green much of the time, the plot itself is disturbing, and the scene of the "people scoopers" is something that young children shouln't see. I don't think the future looks like this film, because people and society and technology changed in 26 years. If the world stuck itself in an eternal 1973, yes we would be there by 2022, but we aren't stuck in 1973, this 1999. The year 2022 will be beyond our guesses at least until 2020. Summary: Once again, Heston is the best when he goes it alone!
Review: A must see for any Heston fan. I mean, this guy's movies are tremendous. All of his movies should be re-made with modern day productions, but who could possibly fill the enormous shoes of Chuck? Again, we find Heston going it alone with little help from anyone, save old Sol Roth. I especially like how the whore women are referred to as furniture, and the way crowds are dispersed with the "Scoops." The highlight of the movie is when Heston thrashes the life out of Chuck Connors, literally beating him to within an inch of his life, then lands a punch on Connor's black furniture. The moral of this scene: Don't get in Thorn's way. Just wish we had more Heston '70's films of this genre.

Review: In today's world of loose morals and lack of Integrity this movie has chilling possibilities of becoming reality, far more so than when shot in the early seventies.

Summary: The Mother of all Thrillers and Sci-fi movies.
Review: SOYLENT GREEN is the Greatest Sci-fi Thriller of the 70's, and it's the best thriller sense Wild Things (1998) and it's the best sci-fi sense America 3000 (1986). I reccomend this movie to fans of Apocalypse films and Those who like Charlton Heston's movies.

Review: Charlton Heston's Sci-fi story "SOYLENT GREEN" is a classic Futuristic Thriller, that shows us a Vison of a Food Product in a Green Planet Earth. Heston stars as Handsome Police detective Thron whose from the year 2022. The future has been triggered by the Greenhouse effect, and it's caused the sky to turn Green, Heat Temperture has become havoc, There is not enough food supplies for the American population. Thron who lives with his Ageing father Sol. Is sent to Investigate the Twisted murder of a Executive of a Food corporation called Soylent. It Manafactures Food Supplies called Soylent's. Red, Yellow and it's Healthy sucesse Green. Thorn who lives in a Police world where A jar of Strewberry costs $1.50, is about to un-cover a Terrifying Corporation conspraicy about Soylent Green, it is really biscuits, made out from Dead Bodies who are dumped at a Waste Disposal after their life ends. if you love Sci-fi movies and Thrillers, this is the classic one to see.

Summary: Charlton as good as ever...
Review: The year is 2022, New York has a population of 40 million people... Animal food source is all but gone. so people eat Soylent 'tastleless crud' Charlton Heston is Thorn the policeman trying to solve the murder of one of the top Soylent directors........ I like this film cos it seems real. strange i know, but the acting is first rate. Heston portrays Thorn brilliantly as a scrupulous, caring cop with Eddy G.Robinson perfect as Sol Roth the book. my two favourite scenes are when Thorn gives Sol the food from Chelsea towers and the 'going home' scene. Summary: creepy but cool
Review: This movie was cool..they should re-do this movie and show it to younger generations because I think we are still headed in this direction...driving SUVs, living in such a "throw-away" culture.

Summary: Chilling & more so becuz it could become real.
Review: Scared the sox off of me the first time (I didn't know the ending...then). The suicide/euthanasia centers seemed like a neat thing till I saw where the bodies went. If you haven't seen it - do so...if you have, see it again!

Summary: Frightening with the idea of possibility
Review: Not bing a "fortune teller" but with even the remote possibilty of a possible future for mankind, at least the last quarter of this film is one of the most frightening I have either seen. Much more so than Omega Man - which to me is much less believable. You will walk away from this a super ecology freak and wonder how we could do this to the planet so perfectly portrayed in On A Clear Day, God help us all!!
