Review: I have been searching for this movie for over ten years. I got to see a small part which left me wanting to see the entire movie. I am a lover of classic horror movies and have seen most every one. The day I find a copy of The Thing will be a wonderful day for me. Do you have one to sell?

Summary: The greatest science fiction movie of all time!
Review: I was just a child when I saw this movie, and boy was I scared. I had nightmares for several nights running. I still remember the terrifying music, the feeling of "dread" as the Thing approached, and the excitement as the geiger counter ticked away on his approach. If you love science fiction, you have to see this movie. Unfortunately, I cannot find either the black & white or the colorized version, so if anyone knows where I can locate it, PLEASE let me know by e-mail. A MUST SEE MOVIE!

Summary: Downright boring.
Review: This film would only appeal to stubborn old folks 60 and above. Christ, this movie is 48 years old and it is not even true to the book it was based on! Instead, this film is fraught with a cast of forgettable characters, a big man in a killer carrot monster suit and overly-dramatic drivel as main dialogue.If you want a real scare and a far more decent adaption of "Who goes there?", try "John Carpenter's The Thing". It is lightyears ahead of its time and will send true jitters down your spine no matter how many unrealistic CGI monsters of today, or silly monster suits of the past, you have seen in cinema. Again, stay away from this 50's "classic" unless you are a senior citizen feeling downright nostalgic.

Summary: A classic!
Review: While the John Carpenter version is a bit more true to the original magazine piece of the '30s, this Howard Hawks film is a trend setter (for example the overlapping dialogue). I saw this film at the State Theatre in Chattanooga when it first came out. It still scares me.

Summary: An enduring classic of scoence fiction!
Review: One of the all-time great science fiction classics from the 1950s, the golden decade of the genre. This film was also redone in a colorized version but the original B&W still packs a punch. The script is terse, fast-moving, and the cast superb. Some reviewers have ascribed a xenophobic theme to the film in the era of cold war politics. I believe the film can be viewed on another level, where the conflict between science and the layman is the central theme.

Review: What can be said of a movie light years beyound any of the sci-fi movies that have come and gone since its' release? Thing, From Another World remains to this day the classic sci fi movie; from start to James Arness' electric finish, this movie still sizzles. The acting, the sets, and most of all the atmosphere created by this movie encompass all that any lover of sci fi could ask for. I would encourage those who love sci fi to email the studios for the 50th anniversary of this wonderful movie for the millenium. What of Day the Earth Stood Still, you ask? View both films if you have them, then ask yourself which was the more engrossing of the two?

Summary: The Original "THE THING" still rules!
Review: I First remember hearing about this movie from my mother some years back. She was just a little girl when it first came out. What she did not realize is that when the movie was over she had to walk home by herself when it was over. By that time it was dark outside and she told me that she would never forget how scared she was. So I decided that I had to see this movie which is originally titiled "THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD". I tried to imagine living back when she did when most of the monsters on the big screen where usually pretty hoaky. WOW, what a suprise to find that this little gem was not only scary but the acting was pretty good. By the way , this was James Arness first big role (he plays the monster). I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is into sci-fi.

Summary: Simply the best of the fifties sci-fi thrillers.
Review: A true sci fi buff has seen this film many times. James Arness does more with two minutes screen time to scare movie goers than the rest of the imitators to this day. The original black and white studio version purposely darkens scenes with Arness as the Thing to obcure his features. The colorized version does not, so if you want the best look, get the colorized version. Currently unavailable for purchase, but a must-have movie. Forget the John Carpenter gore-fest sequel. THIS is the "real" Thing!

Summary: Animal,Vegetable,Or Mineral,This Thing Is Great
Review: I highly recommend this DVD to all the classic 50's sci-fi fans everywhere,this one still remains the best all time sci-fi classic,based on the John W.Campbell story Who Goes There?,here we me Capt Patrick Hendry played by Kenneth Tobey,he and his men investigate the disturbance of a crash in the north pole,only to find that the disturbance was caused by a flying saucer,and they also discover frozen in the ice a huge creature thrown free from the explosion,with the Air Force Pilots are also scientists led by Dr.Arthur Carrington played superbly by Robert Cornthwaite,they take their find back to the isolated research base only to discover due to the thawing out by an electric blanket used by Corporal Barnes played by William Self,comes back to life and starts a bloodthirsty rampage,James Arness who was 28 years old at this time,played the monster,he was great and scary,lets not forget Douglas Spencer as the newspaperman Ned Scott,he was wonderful and added humor to this otherwordly story,this film has some great scenes,the discovery of the blood-drained sled dog in the greenhouse at the base,the soidiers and scientists studying the hand of the monster when it was torn off by sled dogs and the tapping of the thorny knuckles of the thing,and of course the thing standing in the doorway confronting our heroes before the monster itself is destroyed by an arc of electricity,the overlapping dialogue,solid acting and eerie otherwordly music played by composer Dimitri Tiomkin is great,and Christian Nyby directing(although many consider Howard Hawks made the film)was excellent,keep this DVD next to all your sci-fi titles,and remember the faithful warning:Keep Watching The Skies!!
