Summary: Poignant
Review: I have to admit. This movie did make me cry for at least 20 minutes after it was over. I kept sobbing into the pillow saying, "Why?" But that's how much the movie affected me. Audrey Hepburn's auru of charm and girlish enthusiasm bubbles through this movie, making it one of my favorite movies with her in it, other than 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'. This is a "must-see".

Summary: Will make you fall in love with Audrey Hepburn!
Review: Before I saw this film, my opinion of Audrey Hepburn was that she was just "the other Hepburn." That opinion changed when I saw Audrey's face when she wakes up in Gregory Peck's bed. Kate who? "Roman Holiday" made me a huge Audrey Hepburn fan and I have since watched virtually every one of her movies. "Roman Holiday," though, still remains my favorite.

On a side note, I recently watched a film from 1943 called "Princess O'Rourke" and its similarity to "Roman Holiday" is eerie. That film stars Olivia de Haviland as a princess who escapes from her confined life and falls in love with a common American. Unlike "Roman Holiday", that film cops out in the end with the customary, but rather unbelievable, happy ending and I think that is why that film has been relativily forgotten. It was the combination of Audrey Hepburn's and Gregory Peck's (miscast my foot!) performances and the poignant, bittersweet ending that made "Roman Holiday" an unforgetable classic.

Summary: AUDREY AND GREG
Review: Hepburn's first starring role is a charmer as a princess bored with her official visit to Rome; she slips away and has fun as an average girl would. A reporter discovers her little charade and decides to cash in on an exclusive story. Naturally, they fall in love! Written by blacklisted writer Dalton Trumbo, it was "fronted" by Ian McLellen Hunter.

Summary: Roman Classic
Review: How should I say this, the movie, by itself, is fantastic. The story line has a touch of Cinderella, the fanciful story of the Princess and the common man. But UNLIKE the classical love story, the two souls... well, when you buy it you'll know. The charming plot takes the audience to Rome, (and by the way, its very effective that the movie was set IN Rome, not some Hollywood studio.) the eternal city, which brought out the classic charm of Audrey Hepburn, our Princess. After viewing the movie, the most delightful feeling will overcome you. You'll find yourself unconsciously rewinding that tape. At the beginning, I say the movie by itself is fantastic. But the movie is not the only fantastic part. One who has seen the movie can't ignore the beauty of Audrey Hepburn. It's a treat by itself to see such an elegant woman. All and all, buy the movie and ENJOY IT!

Summary: really lked it
Review: There was a time in the movies when people could fall in love and romance without having to get naked. Not that I mind pretty naked people onscreen: quite the contrary; but how wonderful to have a story able to focus on the fun and excitement ("A League of Their Own" was like this too) without needing to resort to nudity. This would be a great movie for kids who might like faraway places and romance. But how real was the iciness at that press conference at the end?

But there could have been a sequel! Hepburn and Peck could have stayed in touch through letters and etc. even as they pursued their own lives and without falling into an affair a la Buckingham Palace. Or do I see a remake reuniting Gwynneth Paltrow and John Hannah from "Sliding Doors"?

Summary: Adorable Comedy/Drama!
Review: This is one of the best blends of comedy and serious drama in a movie! Greogory Peck and Audrey are excellent together, and the white lies told by both throughout the movie to keep their true identities secret are a laugh! His partner, the photographer, keeps you laughing the whole way. Surprise Ending! One of the best!

Summary: My favorite movie
Review: Well, most of you have already summed it up. I just wanted to add that I think that it definitly says something when every single person who wrote a review for this movie ranked it as 5 stars with only one exception (who ranked 4). This movie is so good that I can't even think of an adjective for it.

Summary: Delightful!
Review: As long time fan of Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck, to find a movie that included both of them was exciting to begin with. It far execeeded my expectations, being wonderfully enjoyable, a charming mixture of the funny and touching. Also, the costumes were a special treat. It was amazing all the different ways Audrey wore the same simple blouse and full skirt.
