Summary: A lovely romantic comedy
Review: As fresh and watchable today as ever, "Roman Holiday" is a delectable treat. Audrey Hepburn is good enough to eat with a spoon. And contrary to what the Amazon.com reviewer said, I think Gregory Peck is perfectly suited for the role. He and Hepburn have a winning chemistry throughout. Can't imagine Cary Grant in it. A clever, amusing comedy in the old Hollywood tradition, with a bittersweet ending that's unexpectedly poignant.

Summary: A very touching movie
Review: I must agree with all the good things that have been said. Audrey Hepburn is one of my favorite actresses, and she was perfect in the role of a princess, even a runaway one. I loved the scene with the fountain of truth. I heard somewhere that Gregory Peck and William Wyler pulled one on Audrey Hepburn by hiding his hand in his coat sleeve when he pulled it out of the fountain. She apparently didn't know he was going to do that. This is one of my favorite movies.

Summary: The sweetest film ever
Review: All directors and producers should watch this film, needless to say everyone else as well. You can't find a more touching and sweet movie. I fell in love with Audrey Hepburn, and Gregory Peck was the most charming I've ever seen him. Even Eddie Albert was great! I will never again see another romantic comedy, because after this, why bother?

Summary: Fun, Classy, and full of Pizzazz!
Review: This novel movie made its way into my heart as almost no other movie has. Audrey Hepburn's elegance is captured by the camera, and all you can do is just sit there and be mesmerized. This movie has wit, adventure, and clean romance fit for anyone whether they be a five year old or an elderly lady in a nursing home. This is one movie I'll always enjoy, and I'm sure everyone who has seen it feels the same way.

Summary: No one can play elegance better than Audrey.
Review: I completely disagree with anyone who says this movie should be remade. There is a certain elegance surrounding Audrey Hepburn that can not be captured by any of today's Hollywood starlets. The first time I watched Roman Holiday, the VCR had to rewind the tape on its own because I could not believe that it could have such a bittersweet ending. But I came to realize that the ending is what made it so wonderful. If it had the normal happy ending, Roman Holiday would probably have been dismissed long ago as a fairy tale. I think Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn and Eddie Albert are wonderful in this movie. Peck plays the perfect straight man for Albert and Hepburn. I absolutely love the scene when Peck sticks his hand in the mouth of truth. While I love Cary Grant, I think he would have been too refined to play the lead. Peck seems to be more of an "ordinary guy"

Review: By far, "Roman Holiday" is the most romantic comedy and unlike any movie of its kind that I have seen, even today. The wonderful casts and the ironic plot are a topper. Gregory Peck was charming; and no one can forget Audrey Hepburn who was lovelier than spring when she smiles, but winter when she cried. When Gregory Peck lifted Audrey Hepburn from the fountain -- I said, "Let the adventures begin." And the movie proved itself. I sort of cursed William Wyler, the brilliant director, for chosen the bitter ending instead of a happy ending, but later on I kind of understand why he did what he had to. There's no getting around this movie. "Roman Holiday" is the best of the best.

Summary: Don't bother to remake it
Review: Good grief, there is absolutely no reason to remake this masterpiece because it can't be topped. I guess Cary Grant might have been better as the male lead, but Peck is just fine. What puts Roman Holiday in the top echelon though, is of course Audrey. Can't imagine any actress coming close to a performance this charming.

Review: Audrey Hepburn, in her debut role, as a princess struggling for independence, is magnificent. Gregory Peck is marvelous as Joe Bradley, an american reporter determined to obtain the perfect story. Love between the two, ensues. The chemistry between the two is amazing. And the end, well I won't spoil it, but let's just say it is unexpected. Old Hollywood movies are the greatest!

Summary: What's with the ending?
Review: Roman Holiday was a wonderful movie, but the ending shocked me! It's like Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail. You just stare at the black screen and say "They can't DO that!". Audrey was wonderful as ALWAYS, and the role was perfect for her. Eddie Albert was good too.
