Review: When Maria(Julie Andrews) is sent away to be a governis for Captain von Trapp(Christopher Plummer), and his seven children, Maria is sure she has confidence. At first the children don't like Maria, but are very used to her soon. Maria teaches the childen how to sing and do vocal music. Capt. V. Trapp doesn't like the idea of his children singing. Then the German soldiers want the Austran Captain Von Trapp. When Maria and Captain Von Trapp marry the German soldiers want the captain instanly. Then the family relizes they must hide and leave Austria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: This film may be enjoyed on many levels
Review: While "The Sound of Music" is considered by many as one of the finest musicals ever made, viz. the triple header of Wise, Rodgers, and Hammerstein, the film has a complexity missed by one time viewers. Since it has become a favorite of my kids and I often join them as they watch the video, some of the more subtle aspects have emerged. The political message, the moral choice between succumbing to the Nazi's rise in power or standing one's ground at the risk of losing all, the love triangle and its resolution, and the near loss of a father's relationship with his children are all here. Whether the package is too quaint or not is almost beside the point. The stark, shocking contrast between the majestic beauty of the Austrian Alps and the shout of "heil Hitler" is one of the film's most stunning moments. Viewers who study these elements would be rewarded for their efforts by a deeper understanding of some important themes of the film.

Review: The Sound of Music is appealing to adults and children alike whether the year is 1965 or 2065. The musical score is excellent and Julie Andrews is clearly the best. I doubt if there will be ever a film made such as The Sound of Music. I would recommend this to everyone.

Review: Julie Andrews stars in "The Sound of Music" a sweet,funny,and romantic true-life story of the Von Trapp Family Singers. Andrews stars as Maria,a sweet,tomboyish novice at Nonberg Abbey.Though loved by most of the nuns,it is clear that she isn't cut out for a nun's life,so the Mother Abbes sends her to the home of a wealthy,widowed,former Naval captain named Baron Von Trapp.Quikly learning of the Captain's strict upbringing of his seven motherless children,Maria introduces warmth,happiness,and music to the house,ultimatly winning over the children,and falling in love with the Captain.When confronted with the shocking and frightening truth of the Captain's love for her,Maria leaves the house,only to be sent back.Upon her return,she learns of the Captain's engagement to a cold noblewoman. After the Captain declares his love for her does Maria truly understand how deep her love is for him.But soon after their marriage,Maria and the Captain are forced to make a life-changing decision brought on by the invasion of the Nazis.One of the most poular films of all time,"The Sound of Music" is endearing because of its heart,its love,and, of course,its music.I think this is a treat for all ages,but especially for the romantic in all of us.
