Summary: What a picture, what a score!
Review: Once Upon a Time in the West is my alltime favorite western. The main reason I love it is because of the excellant casting. I can't believe how long it has been overlooked by critics. The individual theme score for each of the main characters is out of this world and is still awesome in it's own right after all these years. Please let's get this long overlooked classic on DVD!

Summary: One of the Best Westerns I've seen in a long time
Review: By today's standard, Once Upon a Time in the West could have played like a video. The close-up shots, mood and atmosphere makes for a stirring story. Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson and Jason Robards truly stole the show. I was truly mesmerized by Charles and moved by Jason. Henry played the perfect villian, with Claudia being the damsel in distress. Claudia certainly packed a truckload of sensuality in this movie. More than just a "spaghetti western", this movie packs style, daring-do (the scene with the family when Henry and his men shoot them all in cold blood) and lots and lots of revenge galore!!! I also like the cameo appearance with Woody Strode and Jack Elam waiting at the train station. I think this move is and was ahead of it's time and worth the hours they put into it. A must see

Summary: Western Masterpiece!
Review: I have to say this is probably my favorite western of all time! My husband and I have been fervently searching for the DVD in this, so we can purchase it. We have watched this movie many, many times and consider it one of the classics! Fonda was deliciously villanous, which made him extremely sexy and gave him another depth of character. You can't hardly beat the wonderful cast of BRONSON, FONDA, ROBARDS & CARDINALE! This movie was well cast, well produced, well directed and in my opinion, should have won several awards and definitely needs to be released on DVD asap!!! Please somebody out there get this classic on DVD soon!

Summary: One word--Masterpiece
Review: Director Sergio Leone's crowning achievement and arguably one of the greatest movies of all time regardless of genre. The movie takes its sweet time weaving an engaging yarn with strong characters and a haunting musical score that is itself a work of art. This is some of composer Ennio Morricone's finest work ever. Name your cinematic yardstick, and this movie excels at it. How ironic that it took an Italian to create the greatest American western ever.

Summary: Bring it out on DVD!!!
Review: I first caught this film on AMC, and I was just blown away by the cinematography, acting, theme and plot. Ever since then, I've been eagerly awaiting the release of this film on DVD. It's interesting to see how the careers of Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson have turned out over the past few decades. I love the landscapes of both their faces, and how both deal out their violent justice. But where Eastwood has won an Academy Award and been celebrated by the AFI, Bronson has degenerated into making violent trash.

The Man without a Name trilogy was filmed in Europe, but Once Upon a Time in the West made full use of the landscape of the American west. The Morricone music is perfectly matched to the visuals. The final gunfight between Charles Bronson and Henry Fonda blows your mind with the revelation of why Bronson is after Fonda. Henry Fonda is cast against type as a villain, and his tired evil demeanor reminds me of the casting of Tom Berenger in Platoon. Oh yeah, Claudia Cardinale is one major hottie.

Summary: An instant purchase...when it arrives on DVD
Review: I can't wait till this comes out on DVD--its on my instant purchase list. Its such a mythic story... This film isn't just a story about some people doin' some stuff out west. This story is about The West. Not just The West as a place, but as an idea. Its simply and absolutely one of the best westerns.

Summary: Can we please have this on DVD?
Review: Once Upon A Time In The West is simply the best western I have ever seen, if not the best film I have seen. I would describe it as a baroque western, as typical western themes are taken to extremes and icons are used in ways opposing previous westerns. Absolutely essential. Leone's masterpiece, and that is saying something considering the quality of his work.

When this does come out on DVD, I hope that the alternative endings are included. There are at least two endings, if not more.

THIS FILM DEMANDS A COLLECTOR'S EDITION DVD!

Review: This is one of the most beautifully filmed films of all time and to see it on a tape that is not in the letterbox format does not come close to doing it justice. The only way that I have been able to see this wonderfull film in letterbox is on AMC, but AMC has not played it in months. The other option for people to see this in a letterbox format is to go to an auction service and buy a laserdisk player and the laserdisk of the movie. I hope that whatever company has the rights to release this film on dvd does it right.
