Summary: Too much Bugs, not enough everything else
Review: Even on the so-called "All-Stars" discs, every other cartoon stars Bugs. Foghorn Leghorn, Sylvester and Tweety, and, most inexcusably, Marvin the Martian are all severely under-represented on this set. Also unfathomably absent are "What's Opera Doc?" and "Robin Hood Daffy," arguably the funniest cartoon ever animated.

Summary: Collection brings back the classics
Review: This collection was very well put together. They do not make cartoons like these anymore. I have seen some of these cartoons many times and they are just as funny the 50th time as they are the first time. With some of the cartoons, there is a short behind the scenes of them. On the fourth disc, there is an interesting 45 minute documentary about the history of some of characters.

Review: this is a wonderful collection, which i bought only because i grew up watching looney tunes and they no longer show them anymore. i've learned so much about animation through the special features of this dvd, and i hope that you get it so that you can learn all about looney tunes like i did.

Review: Situation: After the contents were debated, the 4 DVD set was purchased. For our extended family, disks 1 & 2 get regular play, sometimes as background for other activities; disks 3 and 4 rarely so. The special features on each are clearly a plus though they are infrequently viewed. The set is a good purchase.
Criticisms vary in our house. We continue to be disappointed in various degrees with the lack of "What's Opera, Doc?", "One Froggy Evening", minimal Road Runner, minimal Yosemite Sam, sheepdog vs. 'wolf', Daffy/Porky pairings, other personal favorites. Chuck Jones is a favorite though some wish for more representative work from other animators. Another review has extensively documented 'missing items/favorites' and we concur. We wonder if (fear that) original prints are no longer up to DVD-class presentation, especially for sound.
Resolution: (1) We resurrected VHS for "The Bugs Bunny Road Runner Movie". (Why no DVD here? We can guess.) (2) We purchased DVD "Chuck Jones: Extremes and In-Betweens" from PBS' American Masters which includes insightful looks at segments from 'Froggy' and from a deconstructed 'Opera', plus other Jones works including the animated 'Grinch', 'Dot and the Line', others. Excellent interviews (see Amazon listing).
On further review: We recommend the 4-DVD set, and also recommend DVD 'Chuck Jones: E & I'. We strongly support another release of Looney Tunes / Merrie Melodies. [Parts of our extended family have threatened to boycott if personal 'Top Ten' favorites remain unpublished.]

Summary: Met all of my expectations and more!
Review: I was always a Daffy DUck Fan and when anyone would ask me about Buggs Bunny I would say that Buggs Bunny is just well known and his comics are typical. Elmer Fudd and Buggs and so on. WELL! When I watched the Buggs Bunny CD I was converted! The Cartoons for all of these discs are truly at the best and now I know why this is the GOLDEN COLLECTION.

Summary: The Golden Collection
Review: Just so you're not confused, there is a Premiere Collection of Looney Tunes cartoons, and there is this one, the Golden Collection. The Premiere Collection is garbage. If you are going to buy a Looney Tunes collection, this is the one to buy - the Golden Collection.In my opinion this is the first of several Looney Tunes releases by Warner Brothers. Surely they are testing how well this sort of thing will sell, and then if the charts all line up, they'll release future editions that contain the classics conspicuously missing from The Golden Collection. While not all of the best ones are here, many of them are and I feel completely satisfied with this purchase. For one it's just good to know that in a world of Teletubbies and Blue's Clues that these remarkable cartoons will exist forever. I spent countless Saturday mornings racing to the television to watch these, and I've found that my own 3-year-olds enjoy them as much as any modern children's show. It's also the preservation of a different period in history - I don't think you'll see many hunters blasting a character with a shotgun in today's radically P.C. climate. The special features are okay. The commentaries are mostly done by historians of American culture and as a result are completely dry and humorless, containing insight into why "when Bugs drops a letter into a mailbox a mailman shows up instantly, it doesn't feel arbitrary." There are some interesting facts though, like who the "Leopold" conductor-character was actually based on, and they include old recordings of interviews (during the commentaries) of the actual cartoonists. The documentary with Chuck Jones is grueling to get through - he's much more a picture of Colonel Sanders on Prosac than a world-class animator. There are music-only tracks and other documentaries that are much more entertaining than the Chuck Jones. Ultimately, this collection will leave you wanting more, but in a good way. It's definitely worth the money if you're a classic cartoon buff, or just a grown kid who lived on this stuff years ago.

Summary: ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!
Review: This collection is the greatest DVD release of all time. The "Tunes" are beautifully restored and funnier than ever. The extras are fantastic, the selection of cartoons is great (they could have added my all-time favorite "The Three Little Bops"), buy this collection...it's worth every penny. And that's the end.

Summary: This Collection Is Golden
Review: This is a masterpiece of looney tunes cartoons. I've especially love the Daffy Duck series since. He's my favorite. Also the behind scenes footage is awesome. My only disappointment is I didn't see enough Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam. I hope another collection of Looney Tunes cartoons come out soon.
