Summary: The Golden Laserdiscs
Review: These are great cartoons yet for the real fan it's not enough. The only way to own all of these cartoons is to buy the Golden Age of Looney Tunes on Laserdisc. In the five box 24 disc set they give you EVERY single uncut and banned cartoon that Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies ever made. That's how it was ment to be, and until they release ALL of them on DVD (which may never happen due to copywrite problems) either buy this great set or get a laserdisc player. ohh yeah, The Library of Congress also has them all on copy yet good luck checking those out!

Summary: ONE FROGGY EVENING...
Review: Not only does it not contain two of my favorites, One Froggy Evening and, as was mentioned in another review What's Opera Doc, there are many other ones, the names of which escape me ... the one with the Dog, Belvedere "Belvedere, come here boy1" etc. I can only hope they will be included on a future DVD.

Review: Of course it just barely scratches the surface!!! Are you so old that you've forgotten just how many hours you spent watching this stuff as you were growing up!!?? How could they jam hundreds of Saturday mornings and weekday afternoons into a mere 3 or 4 dvd's?Shut up and buy it already so they'll release series 2, 3 and more!! Sure its extortion, but its FUN EXTORTION, so get with program and we'll get many of the gems missing from this collection in the next one.

Summary: FINALLY!!
Review: I've been waiting for EVER for Looney Tunes to come to DVD. I've been requesting it and signing petitions. This is finally it. I've wanted a chronology DVD of each character, but this will do for now. It has a lot of the best cartoons from almost each character. Yes, it DOES have a Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner cartoon on Disc 3: Fast And Furry-ous (Wile E. and Road Runner's first short); and also on disc 3 it has Wile E. as Ralph Wolf in Don't Give Up The Sheep. This is one great collection and if you're a big fan of Looney Tunes or just one of these characters... GET IT! I know I will! Finally! I can't wait. I've been waiting long enough. Besides, it comes with 56, count them, 56 cartoons! You get 56 cartoons UNCUT and TOTALLY RESTORED!!! It also has at least one of Bugs' "Racial--Cut/Edited/Deleted--Banned" cartoon: Frigid Hare. Also with a commentary, documentaries and a featurette... it can't get better than this. You can't miss out on this! It's just too awesome.

Summary: "What's Opera, Doc?" and Other Omissions
Review: I've corresponded via email with one of the main people involved in creating these discs, and he confirmed the primary reason "What's Opera, Doc," "One Froggy Evening," "Bewitched Bunny," et al. won't be included on this first release is to allow some of the top Looney Tunes to still be available for release number #2 (if sales for this premier "Golden Collection" are strong enough to warrant future "Tunes" DVD releases). I'm disappointed we're not getting these great Tunes now, but when you look at what WILL finally be available on DVD via this first release (56 remastered Tunes, plus many, many extra features), there's a great deal to cheer about. If only WB had reconsidered the package design. . .

Summary: Mostly Great Choices
Review: Almost all of the choices on these discs are great...including one of my faves "Water Water Every Hare" with the hysterical ether scene. But there seem to be some great shorts that were omitted... "Homeless Hare" with Bugs versus the construction worker, "Bear for Punishment" where Henry and Junior go to look for some honey, "Gorilla My Dreams" where Bugs gets adopted by a mother gorilla. "The Big Snooze" - Bugs treats Elmer to some nightmares I just saw "What's Opera, Doc" a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty lacklustre, not nearly as funny as I remembered it, so I can't say that I'm heart-broken that it's not on this set...on the other hand, "What's Opera, Doc" is a thousand times more entertaining any Speedy Gonzales, Pepe LePew, Tweety, Road Runner and Baby Kangaroo cartoon. That being said, there are only about 4 titles out of the 56 that I'm not too thrilled about...so I will be picking up the set, especially since they are remastered and uncut. I remember when CBS had the very-edited version of The Looney Tunes Show on a few years ago, and was hoping that eventualy that these shorts would be restored to the way that they were originally shown. Summary: A good start
Review: This looks to be good primer for a complete DVD restoration of the Looney Tunes epoch. Of course, there are things missing. The Hunting trilogy should be together on the same disc; What's Opera Doc is a great one, as well as One Froggy Evening;that these are not on there is inexusable. Also, Mel Blanc is NOT the voice of Elmer Fudd. Elmer was voiced by Arthur Q Bryan. It was a voice that Blanc could not master after Bryan's death. Anyway, I don't think I'll be satisfied until there's a DVD that features the Three Bears Cartoons, Charlie Dog, Claude Cat, and one of the great one offs, the dark , cruel "Chow Hound" !

Summary: Wile E. Coyote?
Review: The first thing I looked for when I logged on to see this DVD was What's Opera, Doc? As other reviewers have written, it's not there. My next search was for Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner and it looks that they are not on this either. Guess I'll have to wait for Golden Collection II.

Summary: Buy these disc
Review: Every fan of Looney Tunes has their favorites. There are no right or wrong selections. There are, however, reasons to why certain cartoons must have been left off this set. Warner Bros. actually knows that WHAT'S OPERA, DOC? is a classic cartoon. There's a reason why is has been held back, and hopefully we'll find out one day. Restoring these cartoons takes time. A chronological collection would have been nice, but you know, I think fans would rather see Bugs on DVD sooner than restoring Bosko, Buddy and pals. If this were chronological, we'd be waiting a long time until they released a set with really good Bugs, Daffy and Road Runner cartoons. You can't please everybody. So let's just see if this collection really is the tip of the iceberg. Go out and buy it, and support the idea of restoring these cartoons. We know Warners is behind it. It may just take a little longer than you want.
