Review: First of all I absolutely love the Golden Collection. In fact, I haven't stopped watching since I received it. However, I believe that Warner Brothers could have issued at least 64 cartoons in this box set rather than 56. Over the last six weeks, 5 classic warner Brothers films have been issued on DVD and on four of these releases, a combined 7 looney tunes cartoons were included in the special features that are not in the Golden Collection They are:1) "Yankee Doodle Bugs" - Featured on the "Yankee Doodle Dandy" Special Edition (Of Course). "Yankee Doodle Daffy" & "Bugs Bunny Gets The Boid", which are included in the Golden Collection, are featured as well. 2) "Katnip College", "Rabbit Hood", & "Robin Hood Daffy" - Featured on "The Adventures Of Robin Hood" Special Edition 3) "Hot Cross Bunny" & "8 Ball Bunny" - Featured on "The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre" Special Edition 4) "Slick Hare" - Featured on the "Dark Passage" DVD Why these cartoons were not Included on this Golden Collection, who knows, but here is hoping that these cartoons will be featured on next year's release (Hey Warner Brothers - HINT HINT)

Summary: This is what true Looney Tunes fans drool over.
Review: Before I bought this set I heard many people were disappointed with the fact that many of their favorite Looney Tunes shorts were not included. Well let me say, they are correct, the shorts are not included. However with the large amount of extras, all of which were actually interesting, and the shorts you do get, you will not be too upset over missing a few choice tunes. In my opinion Warner Brothers did an incredible job making up this DVD set. Instead of just putting the most known shorts all onto one set, they took some really great ones with the main characters and mixed it up with some of the ones with the lesser known characters. What you end up with is a very wide variety of the Warner cartoon library. On one disc you can watch the famous "Duck Season, Rabbit Season" short, on another you can watch two little known mice play with Claude the Hypo-Chondri Cat. They even included one with Marc Anthony, the dog who adopts a small kitty. Anyone who suggests this set is anything but top notch quality (except the box) really isn't a true Warner Brother fan. I could easily go on and on about it, but you really need to just go buy it. You won't regret it.

Summary: Finally...And release more...BUT CLEAN THEM UP!
Review: I've been waiting YEARS for the release of Looney Tunes. Years ago WB released a set on VHS (which was withdrawn), and Turner/MGM did the oldies on LaserDisc. Bought the Golden Collection, raced home, and started watching. Great colors, wonderful selection of toons, but I thought my TV screen was dirty...IT WAS THE TRANSFER!! This is unacceptable... WB has the BEST cartoons anywhere (Rocky and Bullwinkle come close), and for WB to screw up the transfer to DVD by not watching the cleanliness of their equipment is unforgivable. Watch the toons...you'll notice white spots (small, but VERY visible) in the background of solid colors. And somtimes they move, denoting there was DIRT and DUST in the projector optics when the films were transferred to digital. The dirt and dust is not constant, and varies from toon to toon. I actually got out the Windex to clean the TV, and realized what it was. Come on WB, you've got such a GREAT product, and everyone in the WORLD has been waiting for this release. CLEAN UP YOUR ACT!!

Summary: I REALLY appreciate this DVD set!
Review: This set is GREAT to have! It is not perfect BUT it is certainly not bad. I really enjoyed the BUGS BUNNY TV SHOW extras! I am also glad to have that TOON HEADS lost episodes on DVD! Wish more of the things like the ROAD RUNNER Open/Close were included seperately on here BUT you can't have everything. The LIVE Action BUGS BUNNY Clips are EXCELLENT and blow away that horrible movie BACK IN ACTION that my kids don't even want to go see with FREE tickets. My BIGGEST question about this set though...Is why wouldn't WB use CLASSIC ART on the packaging when it contains CLASSIC CARTOONS? Flat color, original art and drawings by CHUCK JONES, BOB CLAMPETT, etc. are what this set is calling for....not some BAD air brush artist that makes the classic WB Cartoons look like GARFIELD? Review: OMG...that has got to be the most stupid review i've read. Rating this only one star because it hasnt been released yet. Where you born yesterday? Who hasnt seen these toons a zillion times already? If you havnt then you are from mars. Wake up man..I could rate these toons in my sleep. All of these reviews are NOT bogus. Maybe we havnt seen them on a DVD before, and maybe not in this particular order....WHO CARES!! How could reading these reviews be misinformation? Pssst...guess what? we've seen them. ok? Maybe its you who should give it a rest. How about that? Submitting a review for something we have seen is not bogus but entirely proper......and honest. You are so freakin uptight(lump of coal anyone)that you'll probably correct my grammar and spelling. You know what? Have at it man...make a fool of yourself like you have already. Review: Warner Bros. cartoons are among the greatest cinematic gems of the 20th Century. In my book, Chuck Jones, Friz Freleng, Bob Clampett & Co. are up there with the greatest of all filmmakers. Their skill and unequalled ability to create 6 1/2 minutes of outrageous, fast-paced hilarity gave rise to hundreds of great animated short subjects that will outlive all of us. They are truly timeless. After seeing these cartoons for years in muddied or edited form, I canot begin to properly commend Warner Brothers for this outstanding DVD set they have created. A truly GOLDEN COLLECTION of masterpieces it is, all meticulously remastered with amazing clarity, and stunning Technicolor so vivid it almost looks like 3-D. You can't begin to believe what you're looking at is anywhere from 50-60 years old. They look just as they must have when they first hit theater screens. Quite an achievement! Those folks who have complained about the cartoons not looking like something made today, sorry, it ain't gonna look like LITTLE NEMO. These cartoons were made on cels, and cels had scratches and dirt. To remove this would be tampering with the original work, and aside from being prohibitively costly, it is not what we collectors want. We want the real thing, not a digitzed re-rendering. What Disney has done to Snow White by taking out all the original grain, also has made it no longer look like the Snow White we all grew up with. Thank goodness Warners has had the integrity to maintain the original animation without any fiddling on their computers! The selection of cartoons is impeccable. Surely everyone can find many of their favorites here. Among mine are Bugs outwitting Elmer Fudd as the RABBIT OF SEVILLE, Daffy Duck in Chuck Jones' masterpiece DUCK AMUCK, the very first adventure of the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote FAST AND FURRY-OUS, Elmer Fudd's early encounter with a nasty Bugs in Jellostone Park (a westful wetweat) in Bob Clampett's amazing WABBIT TWOUBLE, and Porky Pig subjected to the machinations of Daffy Duck as an evil game show host in THE DUCKSTERS. There are 51 OTHER shorts on the collection, almost every one of them a true classic worthy of exhibition at the Smithsonian. Surely from a library of over 1100 Looney Tunes, there have been some who cry foul that their particular favorite has not been included. Those folks need to be patient for the next installment, and instead celebrate all the amazing work that went into finally bringing LOONEY TUNES to DVD. The supplementary material here is as substantial as the cartoons themselves. The DVD producers have loaded each disc with amazing special features that will turn anyone who buys this DVD set into an instant LOONEY expert. Bravo! I grew up with these cartoons on TV, and my parents grew up with them in theaters. Now I can share them with my kids on DVD, and they can also learn how they were made, and who the brilliant talents were behind the LOONEY TUNES shield that created these masterworks. Can't wait until the next volume. Meanwhile, I'll just wear out these discs playing them over and over again. THAT'S ALL FOLKS!!!!

Summary: Poor Transfer, No Logic to Selection
Review: I was excited by this release--I've been waiting for Looney Toons on DVD for years! But the DVD transfer is ATROCIOUS! It looks like they ran the films through Kleenex! Dust and fibers are all over the cartoons, and it is VERY distracting! The idea of collections like this is to have the film as nearly "good as new" as possible! I hope they fix this problem before any more releases. Also, I found the selections have no rhyme or reason--I would have preferred releases by character or director, as they did on video about 12 years ago. This is just a mish-mash--you really don't know what you're getting.

Summary: Ageless Cartoons for all Ages
Review: Let me add my voice to all of those who are praising this collection of cartoons from WB. I've been watching these cartoons for over 30 years now, and they've never looked or sounded better. The remastering process brings out the brilliant color of the backgrounds as well as the characters in the foreground. The technicians have done a fantastic job restoring these cartoons and deserve praise. Also, the sound is crystal clear and Carl Stalling's orchestra sounds as if it was recorded yesterday, not 50 years ago. If you are a bonus feature geek like me, you'll spend a lot of time with the documentaries that are scattered throughout the 4 discs. The commentaries are particularly revealing. For example, I always assumed that "What's Up Doc" was a parody of the movie "Singing in the Rain." However, if you listen to the commentary, you'll find out that the cartoon came BEFORE the movie! Was Gene Kelly influenced by Bugs?! Who knows. I too would have liked "What's Opera Doc" and "One Froggy Evening" plus some more Road Runner cartoons. But I have a feeling that if WB's execs are reading these reviews, it's a pretty good bet the next edition will include those cartoons. So, while we can nitpick about some of the choices in this collection, no one can complain about the quality of the packaging and contents of this truly spectacular DVD. I can't wait for Volume 2!!!
