Rating: Summary: Great subject and is accurate but has third-rate actors. Review: The acting in this depiction of the Book of Matthew is not very good. The actor who portrayed Jesus doesn't look at all like Jesus. This film has good intentions and is accurate though. I also have suspicions that some of this film was dubbed. In the Beauitudes scene, The motions of Jesus' mouth do not correspond with his speaking.
Rating: Summary: Excellent and Inspiring Video Review: The Visual Bible is an inspiring video presentation of the Book of Matthew word for word. Bruce Marchiano gives makes Jesus seem so real and alive. Instead of the stern, unemotional Jesus of other films, Marchiano shows Jesus as compassionate, loving, sometimes angry, weeping and with a genuine sense of humor. This video has really made the gospel come to life for me.

Rating: Summary: The parent video collection for a superb line of videos Review: The Visual Bible's Matthew is a wonderful resource, well-made and entertaining as well as informative and inspiriational. The high price-tag may discourage some viewers, but fear not. There are two lines of videos (on VHS) which use footage from Matthew and The Visual Bible's Acts. One line is the Visual Bible For Kids. This series frames the awesome footage from The Visual Bible using stories set in the present to draw kids in and help them understand what they are seeing. Also, there is a line of videos called The Topical Bible Series which uses footage to explore such topics as The Passion and Healing. These videos are hosted by popular contemporary Christians artists. If your family or church can afford Matthew in its entirety however, it is well worth your money, especially on DVD. The DVD extras include the ability to listen to the soundtrack music of the film, biographies of the biblical characters in the film, searches by Chapter and Event (Jesus' birth, baptism etc.), a Spanish as well as English soundtrack (so you get Mateo and Matthew for the price of one) and English subtitles for the hearing impaired. This is video should be seen as the standard for all future multimedia presentations of the Bible. Also available is an audio book which features the music and dialogue from the film....
Rating: Summary: THE MAN WHO MADE JESUS SMILE Review: The Visual Bible's Matthew is more than a movie. Bruce has given Jesus flesh and blood and allows us to experience Him as never before. In other films Jesus comes across as serenely detached from those around Him. In Matthew , He embraces His disciples ,those whom He heals with a deep burning love evident from the smile on His face . Matthew is also unique from other prodeuctions in that it is not a story about the Bible but is the word of God itself taken word for word from the NIV version of the Bible. This is the best film made on the life of Christ and Bruce is the definitive Jesus. He's a friend and I told him that when I pray or read the Scriptures it's his face, his portrayal that come alive. A must for all video libraries .Dynamic video and audio on DVD.
Rating: Summary: Visual Bible Matthew Review: This is an extraordinary movie of the life of Jesus based entirely on the Gospel of Matthew. It was the best depiction of Jesus I have ever seen, well done and quite inspirational. Unfortunatly, it is quite expensive and is priced so that most people will have to wait until their church obtains a copy. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Not bad.. Review: This portrayal of Jesus is the most awesome I've ever seen; truly inspiring...he's got a sense of humor, a sweet personality, and he's totally adorable! The fact that some screenwriter didn't take creative license with the Word is wonderful; you can actually read your Bible alongside. The actor's gift of acting makes this film the beautiful work of art that it is. We've used it in Bible study and I hope this representation is the one my kids think of when they think of Jesus. It's worth the price tag!

Rating: Summary: The Visual Book of Matthew Review: This series of 4 video tapes was excellent! The dialogue is word-for-word from the International Version of the Bible so the content is absolutely correct. In fact, you can follow along with your own Bible as the film progresses. Bruce Marciano (as Jesus) is superb, as is Richard Kiley (who plays Matthew when he was older). The scenery and settings are wonderful, the music is well written, and the Gospel seemed to became even more real - this is an extraordinarily moving account. I believe it would be very meaningful to show to groups of young people (and/or older people), perhaps followed by discussion. Don't miss this one!
Rating: Summary: The Visual Bible's Matthew Review: This video is so awesome. I finally saw Him as a loving and gentle God, not some kind of serious God who wants to punish you when you do something wrong. Instead, He just let me understand how much He had to suffer in order for me to be cleansed and purified by His Holy blood and to spend eternity with Him someday. Thanks to this movie, I became closer to Jesus and love Him even more and more each day. I finally realize how wonderful it is to serve an awesome God.
