Rating: Summary: I wish I could give it 100 stars Review: NGE is the best anime series ever!!! EVER!!! Im an old school NGE fan. I have seen TONS of anime however I have never been touched so deeply or been forced to think so hard by a series...until NGE came along. I remember reading about NGE in a mag several years ago and my curiousity got the best of me. I went to my local Suncoast and lets just say I made them happy. Upon getting home I immediately wanted to see how much I paid for being curious. After the first two VHS tapes I was hooked. Not only did I hook myself but anybody else who watched this amazing series. I started on Tape 5 when Asaka went into the volcano and almost died. Whats really funny is that people thought EVA were robots. But if you saw tape 10 (Im really showing my age)than you know better. Its really hard to descibe NGE because its complex and beautifully so. In essence I believe its about us the human race. All of our faults, strenghts and desires. it focuses on many issues and they go deep into it. This anime has everything. Betrayal, action, intrigue, mystery, unbelievable drama, physicalogical themes, comedy, tradedy, silliness and seriousness. Its also peppered with religious rheteric that truly boggles the mind. NGE is so totally amazing that had I of died before I saw this series I dont think I would have been satisfied that it was a full life. Sounds Melodramatic I know but its more than an anime its an experience and it should be regarded up there with the classics. LIke oliver twist, wizard of oz, citizen kane and the like. Im serious NGE deserves it. Like alot of people the TV series ending was not the punch in the gut I expected it to be so when death and rebirth and end came out to the states I was all over that like drool on a babys chin. So if you take the plunge into NGE than you need to buy the two movies. You might think the price tag on NGE collection is steep but consider what your getting. You would own the best anime ever and be experiencing something exceptionally amazing that comes along about as much as halleys comet. To me the set is priceless. See this anime before you expire.
Rating: Summary: Thrilling to the complex mind. Review: I borrowed the whole DVD set from a friend. I watched it and though it began to become repetitive near the middle, I found it compelling and exciting. The only problem I had were, as most others will tell you, the last two episodes. I finished the series and thought 'What the crap did I just see?' I then watched the entire series once more, paying attention to every detail. It clicked when I watched the last episode. Every piece fell into place. This was, definately, the greatest sci-fi anime I had ever seen.-Great animation. -Great story line. -Great voice acting. -Great battle scenes. -Great anime. Basically, the only problem I had was comprehension, but I got past that. If you hate this anime, it is because you can not appreciate (or understand...) the depth of this anime. Brilliance.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Anime Series Ever. Period. Review: One of the Best Anime Series Ever. Period.
Rating: Summary: Damn Good! Review: This is definitely one of the best, if not the best anime serie of the 90's.The story is very well developed and very well told, and although somehow long, it is never boring. The drawings are nice, still not perfect; but the design makes the viewer not care about that. Each charachter has his/her own personality, and each one gets more and more interesting over time.Fortunately, the two movies "Death and Rebirth" and "The End of Evangelion" are not included, which were pure disappointments. This is a very good Manga, and is becoming somehow a classic.Damn good!
Rating: Summary: Great Anime, Possibly the best! Review: I once and a while watch some old animes. I got this series a while ago and waited long times before getting each dvd. Once I finished the series I realized that I was watching a truly breath-taking expeirience. We see Shinji's slow decline downwards, and his relationships. He gets to the point of insanity. There are a lot of tragic moments though. The series is all dramatic. Think about it. The best thing about the series in my opinion are the battles. There are a few battles in the series that are spectacular. DVD 6 is really awesome. Throughout the series you learn more about nerve, and the people. You will probably become emotionally attatched to everyone. I did. Misato and Kaji walking down a street. That was kind of a sad speech ;however, the series, to me, is uplifting in the end. Now, the only problem is the fact that the end becomes gibberish. The last DVD is pure nonsence. There are few new clips of animation, and Shinji starts to whine, a lot. A movie was created but it didn't actually provide an end(Death and Rebirth). Then the End of Evangelion was made. Shinji, Masato, Asuka, and Rei all had their stories cleared up. Gainax fixed the problem. Wait, they didn't. The end is once again retarded. It is a "make your own conclusions!" ending. Those are stupid because they don't even tell you what happens. Now, I watched the series in Japanese. The English though is kind of bad on this anime. It is bad in some animes, but it is almost horrendous on here. Who casted Shinji? Did the dude in charge give it to his 10 year old son? Good stuff though. Sad in the end, but good stuff. Also, there are no real good features on any of the DVDs. You can buy them all seperate but on here you get a deal.
Rating: Summary: Best Anime Review: I'm the biggest Evangelion Fan, I love this series...The price is a little steep, but you do really get a lot in this "perfect collection." It's a great series, you really get immersed into it and gain a strong attachment to the characters in this anime. But, yeah, great anime.
Rating: Summary: there's nothing to say... Review: there is nothing to say about this anime, which is simply the best tragedy in science fiction ever done.... Japanese culture, apocalyptic surrounding, philosophical and theological questions and very strong feelings are the ingredients of this work of art. Each character is unique, deep, complicated, full of paradoxes, weaknesses, and the scenes of laugh are alterned wich scenes of tears like a greek tragedy. Evangelion, maybe with Akira eventhough it goes much further, is probably the best anime ever done... there's nothing more to say: check the first 2 episodes!
Rating: Summary: smack talking Eva is like self... Review: anyone that would give the Eva series a bad review just can't understand it or has some inane problem with a cartoon being this powerful. I originally saw the Neon Genesis when it was fansubbed back in '96 and the american licensed versions are well-worth supporting, but don't watch anime in english. When in college i turned on all my friends to Eva and receive quite a lot of thanks for it. More than good it's important. Pay attention and you'll learn something about society and yourself. All the times Shinji screams, whimpers and asks "why father?" at massive walls of computer screens. those are my favourite times. Instrumentality is just around the corner.
Rating: Summary: A worthy time investment, well beyond the 650 min. show Review: Eva is supposedly this milestone in dramatic anime. And anyone watching it cannot argue that it is reasonably well animated, full of intriguing characters and melodrama that is placed in a setting so bizarre that you can't help but be interested. At a glance, however, this series is really mecha-blandness. Just as truly, though, to glance at this series is like to buy one grape... completely and utterly impractical. This show demands your time! Here's how I recommend going about this show. 1) Watch it once, and try to understand it as best you can. 2) Obtain the two alternate movies. Watch them. 3) Take a breather, and think! A lot! 4) Watch it again, you'll absorb and comprehend a lot more. 5) To fully understand this show, go online and find a good website that has Stephen Chung's essays relating this show to the Kaballah, a mystical aspect of Judaism. I won't give away too much, but you'll soon see the incredible amount of research that went into this show. The abstract personalities of all the characters will be explained. Also, you may realize just how the events in the show are meaningful, such as how Rei and some other characters does in fact free herself from the binding human condition. In short, do not watch this show if you're a casual viewer. Also, what I personally loved most is just how INTENSE this series is... so intense that when I heard one of the songs from End of Evangelion on a CD, I felt this wrenching in my stomach. This show is so extremely emotional, and all the characters so real and all so tragically flawed... absolutely beautiful.
Rating: Summary: Weird, Twisted, but nonetheless, "Excellent." Review: Well, I'm finally doing a Review for Neon Genesis Evangelion. This Series is quite Weird, but really good, and if I might add it's pretty good for the mind, 'cause it's a thinkin' Anime Series. Usually I never like Mecha Series, but a few, and I thought this Series was just going to be about pure-Mecha and just Fighting, but I was wrong, this Show show's a lot on Teenagers' life's and what they go through, it's not to Bloody, or not too Offensive to children over 13, but in some case's it might be a little much for kid's (Excuse me, "Teenagers") Under 15, and just as I said about BeBop in one of my Reviews, you have to be Mature to injoy a Show like this, and somewhat patient. All in all -- The Storyline is Great, no real Flaws: 9.5/10. The Animation is pretty good, well, the Mecha's Animation is Superb, but the usual Animation is pretty good also, so, all in all, I would give the Animation an: 9.5/10 also. Last but not least the English Dubbing (For those who like to hear English voices), I would say the Dubbing is above Average, or maybe a little above that, but all in all, I would give it an: 9/10. And it would come out as a: 9.3/10. A very nice Rating. But as for me, my Rating is different, which is an: 9/10, which in other words would be an A-. And how I would Rate it would be, 13-15, Pending on how Mature they are. And also this Anime Series is so... so... Weird, Twisted, Sad, Dramatic, and somewhat depressing, but that's what makes it good. But the Ending of Evangelion is not for those light of Heart, Blood, Gore, and Sadness everywhere to be found in the Movie. I cried, so I should know. And So, there you go, there's my Review.
