Summary: Not big on the comic, but very big on the movie
Review: Not being very big on the comic series Spider-man, after seeing the movie I realized that the movie was very good, although I think that i would have gotten much more out of it if I had been more into the comic series. I went to see this movie with my best friend Russell, who was very much so into the comic series, so he helped explain a lot of the things that were confusing me. He explained to me where the Green Goblin comes from, and all the other stuff. Over all The movie was excellent, I don't think that the actors chosen could have been picked any better, and the story line was very good also, I can't wait for it to come out on DVD, so that I can buy it, and I also can't wait for Spider-Man 2 to come out.

Summary: DON'T TAKE YOUNG KIDS TO SEE THIS MOVIE
Review: I took my 12 year old son to see this movie because we thought being PG13 rated, that perhaps it would be ok. I normally do not allow my kids to watch PG13. They are restricted to PG. Spiderman is a perfect example of why I must continue to insist on this guideline. During the movie, I heard small children (like 3 or 4 year old kids)screaming when Spiderman gets beat up rather severely. One child cried out through the silence of the theatre, "Mommie, don't let them hurt Spiderman! They are hurting Spiderman!" He was clearly distressed to see his "hero" being assaulted in a very violent way. After the movie was over, my son said, "Mom, don't bring my brother (who is 5) to see this movie. I understand now why you don't want us to watch PG13 movies. I liked the movie, but I thought it was too violent, and I think my brother would have nightmares if he saw it. I'm not even going to tell him I saw the movie, so he won't be upset that he didn't get to come too."

I am so glad that I did not bring my 5-yr-old with us that day. This is a movie geared toward adults, and as an adult, I found it very entertaining. I loved the special effects. I loved watching Spiderman soar through the skies and use his special powers. I enjoyed the conflict between characters, although I found the "save the girl" routines a bit melodramatic and unoriginal.

My bottom line is I would take my husband, but not my kids, to see this movie. It's a shame Hollywood took an innocent cartoon comic book story and turned it into a blood and guts horror film. It would have been fine as an R rated movie. I think many parents are fooled by the innocence of the idea of this being a cartoon and take their kids to see it. This is more like a Stephen King movie disguised as a cartoon. Beware.

Summary: THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!
Review: This movie so AMAZING that not only did I go for a second spin, but also a third and a fourth! If I had any super powers, it would be to make everyone go see it!! I admit, that the only reason why I saw it in the first place was because I am such a HUGE fan of Tobey's. But I came out of the theater amazed. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!! ...I swear to god it was worth every penny!!!!

Summary: One of the best movies I've seen in years
Review: First of all I wasn't a huge Spiderman fan before the movie came out in theatres. I was very suprised on how good the special effects were. The only problem with the movie was that the Green Goblin looked like a Power Ranger. If they make a sequal they should make the villian look more realistic. Other than that I thought the movie was great. I thought that Toby Maguire and Kirstin Dunst made a great team. I would recommend this movie to viewers of all ages. It is pretty graphic it may not be suitable to childeren of younger ages

Summary: Kiss of the Spider-Man
Review: I'm married to an original web-head (original meaning he actually purchased, read and collected the first Spider-Man comics back in the 60's...I'm saying this not to be boastful but to more or less date us, he-he) so I inevitably I had to go see this movie with my husband on one of his repeat viewings (My husband, by the way, said they got everything right...he even did not mind the organic web shooter). I loved this movie and thought it was great. It had great writing, great acting and a great story. True, there was CGI involved; but in no way was it overused and shoved into your face like Star Wars Episode 2 (see my review for that movie here...). Tobey Maguire IS Spidey. I don't know about the rest of the female viewers, but I will say this much...that kiss scene was supremely erotic (albeit was Kirsten Dunst's/Mary Jane's obvious 'wet t-shirt' really necessary? Just the rain would have been fine). Willem Dafoe deftly portrays the tortured business tycoon Norman Osborne who descends into his evil alter-ego, the Green Goblin, by his own will.

Although I never read a Spider-Man comic book in my life (my husband is obviously the resident Spidey-Expert here in our household) I do know the words to the original cartoon series song. It was a cool nostalgia kick (and major point score with the hubby) to get to sing along at the end of the movie!

A MUST-SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN...REPEAT VIEWINGS HIGHLY SUGGESTED.

Summary: Maguire and Dunst rock!
Review: This movie was just like the comics even though I never read the comics. If you like comic books than read Spiderman. But if you don't read comic books than watch this movie because uh, you'll like it! Really.

Summary: A blockbuster of great proportions
Review: Every year there's at least one big blockbuster. It may only be June but it's here already in 'Spiderman', the adaptation of the comic-book character. A movie brimming with character, stunning special effects and a cluster of great actors, it's understandable why it's become such a hit.

The movie starts with the perhaps controversial casting of Maguire in the central role as nerdy Peter Parker. He's dull, geeky and in love with the girl-next-door (Dunst). One day though, after being bitten by a genetically-modified spider he becomes Spiderman, superhero to the people of New York. Fortunately Maguire works not only as Parker, as we'd all expected him to, but also as Spiderman. Anyone who's seen him as a disaffected teen in 'The Ice Storm' will know that he's a fantastic actor and he really does pull it off with incredible panache here. The most important thing is that Spiderman/Parker and Maguire are so easy to relate to. He's picked on with no friends and there won't be a single person who isn't rooting for him when he finally gets to beat up Flash, the school bully and domineering boyfriend of Dunst's Mary Jane.

Of course, the rest of the cast are perfect as well. Dunst is just adorable, although hopefully she won't be typecast after hitting the big league with this movie. Dafoe is equally good as Spiderman's nemesis, The Green Goblin. The idea of the split personality as we watch him effectively battle himself in front of a mirror is very good indeed. Yet the real star is undoubtedly Maguire, who gets to do a whole range of emotions from nerdy to strong to sad, all of which he handles well.

Significantly this is a movie that doesn't stint on either the action or the metaphor. Every action scene is stunningly produced as Spiderman makes New York his jungle playground, jumping from rooftop to rooftop and swinging from buildings. Yet the metaphor of adolesence is trodden out with care, and there's even some discussion of what it means to be a superhero. For instance, the people turn against him and Parker realises that being a hero means distancing, even losing, the ones that he loved. Indeed, the ending is particularly impressive in that it's utterly unexpected.

All of this and it is a true blockbuster, managing to balance stunning action scenes with romance, sadness and light humour. Watch out for the upside-down kissing scene, surely one of the best movie kisses of all time. Here is a superhero that the audience can relate to, presented in a movie that plays it straight rather than cartoonish. Importantly, it makes you anticipate the sequel with bated breath.

Summary: OUr favorite Superhero comes to the theatres.
Review: This movie was one of the best ones I have ever seen in my entire life. Its about Peter Parker who falls in love with a girl called Mary Jane Watson. He gets bitten by a spider and has the sensation of super powers.

My favorite seen,

My favorite seen was when he was wrestling Bone Saw and when He was doing spirals in the air dodging the hook like things that the goblin was throwing....
Oh, that reminds me, the goblin looked a little fake, but other then that it was a great movie.
