Review: okay. the special effects are awesome! i really hope they come out with a sequel to this excellent movie!
effects: 5 - heart stopping cool animation and effects make you wish for one day you could be spider man!
acting- 4 - all the actors did an excellent job- there was one really corny part. the kiss between spider man and mary jane. it was completely 100% corny. if they kissed at all, it should have been at the end.
storyline- 5-omg! i really hope they make a sequel. i was interested the whole time!
overall- 4.99- that kiss really did a .1 damage to the film! but other than that this movie is definintely worth buying!

Review: Spideman, I couldn'd wait! It was the best super hero, finally to be potrayed on screen. My expectations were high, of course, I never expected, Gone With The Wind, but still they were nonethless high. Overall, it lived up to my hopes. It was romantic, and action packed. I really enjoyed it, and the only people I don't recommend it to is those who despise super hero movies. And the only reason it lost a star was... i don't really know.

Review: The movie-theatre adaptation of the Spider Man franchise went through years of failed plot attempts and numerous legal battles to materialize but despite all of the obstacles, it would absolutely succeed by getting praising reviews from both critics and movie-goers alike and it definitely deserved all of that and I would like to add my share of praise to "Spider Man". This movie is unbelievably great. (DANGER: THERE COULD BE POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD BUT HOPEFULLY NOT.) Tobey McGuire was on the border of being perfect for the role of playing the 'nerdy', bumbling, yet intelligent and caring student Peter Parker who gains new abilities after being bitten and genetically altered by a genetically engineered spider and also gains 'spider like senses' that warn him of approaching danger. He tries to keep them under wraps until one fateful night when his uncle Ben Parker is murdered in a carjacking that he failed to stop and vowed to get his revenge for his uncle's murder by fighting for justice and apprehending criminals. However it becomes a chaotic juggling circus as he juggles being a superhero, fighting crime and upholding the law, working as a newspaper editor for his disgruntled employer J. Jonah Jameson, who seems to hate Spider-Man with a passion, and also trying to win the love of Mary Jane Watson who is in love with Parker's best friend Harry Osborn, who is the son of company CEO, Norman Osborn. I couldn't imagine how he manages all three of these burdens and how much sleep that Mr. Parker loses over time but as they say "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility". Norman, in this movie is, experimenting with a new genetically altering chemical lab but something goes wrong and genetically enhances his genetic makeup and turns him into a monstrous new character who eventually becomes the ever feared Green Goblin while remaining a human but with new powers but goes mad over his company Oscorp being threatened with being shut down by government officials and he goes into defiance of them but yet also threatens the safety of the citizens of New York in the process and Spider Man now has to go head to head against him and protect the public from his malice. William Dafoe definitely shows the pure evil expressions yet the internal vulnerabilities of Norman Osborn. Quite frankly, I love the choice of the actors who were selected to play the characters. Tobey McGuire as I said before was on the border of being perfect for the role of Peter Parker/Spider Man as McGuire brings out the somewhat 'nerdiness' but yet also the intelligence and the vulnerability of Parker's character and also the intelligence and the agility of Spider Man. Even the costume was almost spot-on and not overdone like some of those in "X-Men" and in the 1997 flop "Batman & Robin". Kristen Dunst filling in the role as Mary Jane Watson was absolutely unforgettable and showed the incredible beauty and the intelligence of Watson. My favorite though was the villainous role of William Dafoe playing the ever so frightening Green Goblin and the schizoid Norman Osborn. Then there are some relatively overlooked but unforgettable characters like the high school ruffian bully Flash Thompson. I actually loved watching the fighting scene between Parker and Thompson and its hilarious outcome. I feel that this movie was the best comic book adaptation in many years, if not of all time and none of the characters were dumbed down to one-dimensional characters. There are some interesting messages of how such great power and control also come with the need for great responsibility and it really is something to think about and I feel that those messages combined with fun action scenes in "Spider Man" make it a marvelous movie that is definitely miles above a lot of similar superhero movies or weak superhero movie additions that are sunk down by the MTV-oriented sequences, most notably "Batman & Robin". I think that this movie while occasionally flawed in some areas, "Spider-Man" was much better adapted to the big screen than the X-Men movie was. Unlike some of the characters of that great movie like Storm, Rogue, and Cyclops who I feel were reduced to middle of the road characters, the characters of "Spider Man" almost are as engaging and as great as their comic book incarnations and not since the 1989 "Batman" movie has a superhero comic and it's villains been so well adapted to the silver screen and that my friend is the definition of smart timing, great script and a movie that is destined to become a classic for many years to come, if not timeless. I just hope that the "Spider-Man" movie franchise will go for a long time and not be soiled into MTV oblivion like the Batman series was with "Batman & Robin". Let's just make sure that Joel Schumacher stays far away from this franchise. Let's just say that while these past few years have been dull and sometimes awful for music, they've also been great years for movies. Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, Shrek, Monsters Inc......you name it. "Spider Man" took as long as a decade to finally bring to the big screen but it all paid off though. While this movie might have some room for improvement, "Spider Man" is about as great as comic book movie filmmaking gets with its fun atmosphere and eye-popping action sequences and wonderful script and all of these things bring this movie to life. Let me tell you, I haven't seen any comic book characters that were brought to so much life on the big screen in my life. While I'm not knocking on the "X-Men" movie at all, "Spider-Man" was better filmed and the costumes were great and not overdone like some of the characters. Despite all of the negative flaws of both of these two movies, they are both classics and make a great action movie combo! Both make great compliments, "Spider-Man" having a fun and colorful mood yet dark atmosphere while "X-Men" has a darker and much more dramatic atmosphere and these two are great movies to include side by side. Perhaps they should eventually put together a movie where "Spider Man" meets the "X-Men" and they battle a Magneto-Dr. Octopus alliance. Now that would be awesome! Enough of all of that, "Spider Man" is a must-have addition to any movie-goers movie collection. I may be wrong but it might be difficult in my opinion for the second Spider Man movie to surpass this one but time will tell though. Go and buy it! End of message! :-)

Summary: A Great Movie In The Mighty Marvel Tradition
Review: I thought that Spider-Man was a great movie because of the story and the action. It made me think that someone can step up and be a hero(even if someone has no super powers). I also thought that the characters were handled very well(especially Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson) and that the movie stayed faithful to what made Spider-Man great over the years. I definitely recommend this movie to everyone(even if you're not a comic book fan) .

Summary: Spider-Man - a delight to watch
Review: This film is a simple delight. Is it "War and Peace"? No; it's based on a comic-book, for crying out loud! The scenes of Spidey webswinging over NYC are a literal delight to watch. Maguire delivers a cute, believable and loveable Peter Parker, but Willem Dafoe almost steals the movie as the Green Goblin. What's that saying about age and cunning triumphing over youth and skill every time - almost! When was the last time being bad looked so good...? Here's hoping we see more of this character.
Whenever Sam Raimi's involved, you can expect the blood and spit to fly; "Spider-Man" is no exception. Highly recommended, with the possible exception of very young children. The Goblin, after all, pulls no punches - and we wouldn't want him to anyways.

Summary: Overrated but entertaining..
Review: Let me say right off that if you are a comic book fanatic and want purity in all 'translations' to the big screen, you are going to have some problems with this movie. The creators took some liberties with the storyline so as to make it appeal to the masses. This is a pretty typical tendency that you see with most comic book (Xmen, Hulk, Punisher) and fantasy (Lord of the Rings, D&D) movies. An entertaining movie with some great visuals, it nevertheless suffers in a few places from some absolutely AWFUL dialogue.. Talk about cheese.. FEH! There are some lines in this movie that made me want to track down the actor/actress just so I can ask if they cracked up after delivering them.. Entertaining.. worth the price, but get your wine ready..

Review: An incredibly boring, unimaginative, and viscerally unexciting adaptation of one of the world's most intriguing superheroes. Sadly, this film falls flat, weighted down by superficial writing, canned ham acting, and the lack of a premise. Largely a CGI-fest, Spider-man -- alongside films like MOULIN ROUGE and HARRY POTTER -- is a film that should never have been greenlighted ... much less greengoblinned.

Summary: Toby Maguire is Peter Parker
Review: I know that a number of my closest friends have complained about the acting. They focus primarliy on the relationship between Parker (Maguire) and M.J. Watson (Kirsten D.). I have to constantly remind them that this is a movie based on a comic book. And these are two teenagers. Kids are not smooth, and I found the naive behaviour authentic and realistic. The movie is character and story driven and not just a special effects show. Oh yeah, the effects are sweet.

Summary: A Standout of 2002
Review: Peter Parker is the class nerd. One day, while on a field trip, he is bitten by a super spider and starts to gain super powers. While he's having fun climbing walls and shooting webbing, his best friend's dad is undergoing a transformation of his own. Norman Osborn has tried a highly risky experiment on himself, and it's made him crazy. Transforming into the Green Goblin, he fights to bring down all those who oppose him. When Spiderman gets in his way, the battle ensues. What really drew me to this movie was the emotions and struggles it puts the characters through. Peter is forever longing to be noticed by Mary Jane, and his sudden transformation doesn't turn her eye. Yet he's also aware that keeping who he has become a secret is highly important to the safety of his friends and family. That last scene was dynamite! I also enjoyed the Jekyll/Hyde relationship that Norman had with the Green Goblin. That was filmed and written well, making the villain slightly sympathetic himself. The actors do a wonderful job of drawing me in and making me care for the characters. Much like the real world, not everything gets resolved easily, and this movie certainly left me wanting to know more. The DVD set is wonderful as well. The film is preserved with clear picture and sound. The commentaries are interesting and there are loads of behind the scenes things to go through. I'm not that familiar with the Spider-Man comics, so I found the sections on the character especially fascinating. This movie tempers its action with wonderful heart, making it a truly likeable film. Movies don't get much better then this.
