Summary: Well worth the price
Review: I received this set yesterday, and I love it. This is what DVD was invented for folks. Each disc is filled with tons of extras, amazing animations, AND the movie! This makes it well worth the price.

Granted, I don't know why MGM chose to release these particular 7 in this set, but what does it really matter? MGM will eventually release all of them. They are coming out in three sets.

I personally think this is a wonderful product.

Summary: James Bond Gift Set is good....but
Review: I would have to agree with those who say that the "Goldfinger" and "Live and Let Die" DVD's could have been better quality. I don't have a complaint about the picture quality as such, but the audio should've been Dolgy Digital 5.1 instead of monoraul. It particularly affects the LALD installment where the limitations in sound are a just a bit more noticeable. To those who'd say they would return the set all I can say is there's probably no point. I personally don't anticipate another enhanced version of GF or LALD to be released anytime soon. Overall, this was a worthwhile purchase and I believe the next two sets will be even better. Nothing is perfect. Live and Let's Enjoy! :)

Summary: Perhaps an uneducated compiler....
Review: I guess the person in charge of marketing these films is not a big 007 fan, due to the inclusion of LALD, GE and TND. An interesting idea though to pick seven randomly - I hardly think it matters that some miss out in the first set, and there are a couple of 007 shockers like GE an ofcourse MR that can be left out of any 'avid' fan's collection quite comfortably. To own MR for the sake of owning the set is compulsive behaviour.

The Directors' commentries are an excellent ideas, for they are all very talented and it is a shame that most of them are off the scene.

A better collection would be GF, YOLT, OHMSS (Only to cover George Lazenby's efforts), TSWLM (Ofcourse!), FYEO (Ofcourse!), LTK and TND (The better of the two Brosnans thanks to Jonathon Pryce)

Worthy addition to a collection considering it includes GF, LTK and especially FYEO (mind the music on the latter though!)

By the way, can everyone stop jumping on the bandwagon by saying Goldfinger is the best - or at least explain why it is - because its not - there are equals among the available DVDs.

Summary: 2 of 7 are in mono!
Review: Don't believe the technical spec's shown on this website, or most of the reviews - 2 of the 7 movies, GoldFinger and Live and Let Die are NOT remastered, they are the same mediocre quality prints that UA has been selling for 3 years! Furthermore those same two movies are not video remastered either. Both GF and LALD have scratches, glitches and pops in the video.

These two movies are an embarrasment to United Artists.

The other 5 movies are quite good. Great video and phenomenal audio. OK why can they get a great dolby digital 5.1 audio mix on Thunderball (1966) but not GF (1964) or LALD (1973)?!?

Personally I am returning the set and will just buy the good ones, one at a time.

Summary: Take out Brosnan's film's and it's a 5 star
Review: Brosnan has never filled the role of bond and never will. Still alot of good action and women!

Summary: it's about time...
Review: Shoot, I'd buy the set just for Goldeneye. I have been waiting and waiting for James Bond on DVD. Now all they need to do is talk Spielberg into releasing his titles on DVD...

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Quit your complaining! They're still great movies on DVD!!!
Review: What can be said of Bond? What I don't understand is how people can complain about the order they come out. Sure, it would be nice to have them in chronological order, but hey. Look at the facts. Each disk a "special edition" with tons of extras and footage. The discs looks and sound great! We are lucky they are in fact, special editions. MGM has done great work with the video transfer, digital remastering of the soundtracks and interactive menus. The special features are top notch with commentaries, making of featurettes, stills, and tons more. So, I don't see the reason to give a disc a rating of 2 stars just because it isn't in chronological order! I mean, come on. The discs look, sound and are great by themselves. Should the order they are released really determine the value that they are rated on? You can't ignore how great and beautiful these discs look. DVD owners are truly lucky to have them...

Summary: a Mature ,high octane film a must see.
Review: Bond begins finally to gain a sense of maturity. This movie keeps one step ahead at all times. Still it does not live up to it's expectations. All in all still a damn fine motion picture.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Worth the Price.
Review: The packaging, extras and beauty of DVD anamorphic transfers makes this set a must...One pause though, there is a significant amount of over-enhancement on License to Kill and to a lessor extent For Your Eyes Only. Seven Special Editions is Not Enough.

Summary: James Bond will return in 2 more sets.
Review: I have enjoyed watching the Bond films and am happy to see that MGM is re-releasing the Bond film library on DVD. I was so esctatic to discover the gift set on Amazon.com. I kept going on Amazon.com and kept finding more and more Bond films on DVD and finally discovered the gift set and knew then that I just had to order them. It is nice to see that MGM is really using the capability of DVD to its fullest extent. It is, however, sad to read all the reviews saying how disappointed people are about the selection that is provided. Don't worry, there will be more to come in the future. The film crew didn't add the saying, "James Bond will return" without a reason. It will be neat to see all the Bond films on DVD. This is a wise buy, so you better get it while you still can. And remember,

"JAMES BOND WILL RETURN"
