Summary: A movie for you "car guys" out there
Review: Two-lane blacktop is one of those " car guy movies ". You have to be a car guy to like this movie because there is very little story, and lots of racing. But since I am a car guy, I must say that this is a great movie. I love that 1970 G T O judge that they used. I wish I had one myself. You may recognize the 55 Chevy from the movie American Graffiti. It's the car that Harrison Ford drove. As for the actors, Warren Oates brilliantly portrayed a guy that was " really out there ". James Taylor and Dennis Wilson certainly look the part but don't say much ( probably just as well). If you liked this movie, you will love the movie " Vanishing Point " with Barry Newman.

Summary: Badly flawed, still the best movie about street racing ever.
Review: Though this is a badly flawed movie, it is nonetheless the best depiction of real life street racing to date. Those who complain about the "wooden" acting of Taylor and Wilson, or the hyperkinetic BS of Oates, have never been street racing at 3 AM. The problems with the movie are strictly tecnical. There is no way the 55 would be drivable cross country with the same differential gearing that they would be using to drag race. Also, there is no way the GTO would have been able to come any where close to staying with the 55. American Grafitti captured some of the feel with the race between this same 55 Chevy and the 32 coupe, especially the dialogue between the drivers but Lucas had to spoil it with the requisite Hollywood crash.

Review: Well, this movie is a bit on the obscure side, but you have to love two things about it; the cars and Warren Oats' performance. I've only seen it once. It was on TV about 15 years ago and I've been looking for it ever since. I can hardly wait to see it again.

Review: Although, Taylor and Wilson are excellent musicians, their acting has a lot to be desired. Warren Oats (GTO) keeps you bound to the screen. In my opinion the 55 chevy is the star. Some nice shots of early seventies drag cars at the strip. If your into nostalgic drag racing the way it used to be, this is a must see flick.

Summary: Artistically lacking but still a good car flick.
Review: I saw this movie when it was first released to the theaters and 2 or 3 times on tv since. The acting by Oates was typical of him. It seems that he played the same type character in all his movies. Taylor and Wilson just plain didn't act, no personality or character to relate to. There was a very thin plot. For people that love cars like I do, enjoy this film. The competition between the old hot rod and the sleek new factory built hi-performance car makes this an intriging movie.

Review: You need to watch this movie again and again. The 55 black primer Chevy is truly capable of taking you back to an era when brute horespower was for sale to all. The 454 rat motor and the whine of the M22 rockcrusher will bring tears to your eyes as you recall the saturday night street racers. No foreign steel. American iron ruled the world. The next and last movie the primered 55 Chevy was in was American Graffiti driven by none other than Harrison Ford.

Summary: Good movie about outlaw drag racers
Review: I saw this movie for the first time 22 years ago on a late-night TV show and was not impressed with it right away. Several years later I caught it on TV again and found the movie more enjoyable to watch. I found the movie more appealing the second time I watched it because I had seen numerous other car flicks which were just plain silly. This movie provides characters who are believable and numerous scenes with car enthusiasts that reminded me of those days when I drove a modified '55 Chevy and had friends who owned similiar cars. Although the two stars, James Taylor and Dennis Wilson, are a bit stoic in their acting, they're not bad. Warren Oates is great, and the cross-country duel between him in his GTO and the "boys" in the '55 Chevy is good. Incidently, the '55 Chevy in this movie is the same car in "American Graffiti" which Harrison Ford drove. This movie is not for all audiences and is not packed with action, but it does provide an interesting story. For anyone who enjoys cars and drag racing, this movie is worth a look and I'm glad to see it's available on DVD.

Summary: 70'S "WITH IT" MOVIE
Review: I worked at a drive in theater in the 70's, and when this show aired, my boss, after his first viewing, let me close the remaining nights so he wouldn't have to view it again. I agree. Sorry, this is cult stuff only. Warren Oates was a great actor and is the only good thing about this movie. The rest of the cast stumble thru their roles trying to put on 70's cool, with "meaningful and relevant" dialogue. I still cringe at the memory of James Taylor's effort at trying to act. He's an excellent musician, but, a terrible actor. You think the Blair Witch Project could get on your nerves, try this one, and you re-watch the Project (a terrifically scare but annoying movie) a hundred times.

Summary: A great movie about street racing
Review: Awesome flick! The movie starts out in Los Angeles with "Big Willie Robinson" and the L.A. County International brotherhood of street racers. The '55 blows off a Plymouth Cuda and the cops show up. The dialog about street racing is very realistic. The '55 Chevy is the star of the movie in my opinion, in fact its the same car used for the movie "American Graffiti". Its by far the best "car movie" ever made. Johnny
