Rating: Summary: Indy is still thrillin' Review: "Raiders" is still a wild ride nearly a quarter-century after its original release. Indiana Jones, professor of archaeology, goes after the Lost Ark of the Covenant with his lost love Marian (Karen Allen) who's anything but the stereotypical damsel in distress. Marian is as tough as Indy - this tough adventuress who wins drinking contests against the best doesn't wait to be rescued but kicks behind on her own. Cheer for the heroes, hiss the nasty Nazi bad guys, and shudder over the snakes! "The Temple of Doom", while not as good as its predecessor "Raiders" created a sensation on its release since the violence was rather extreme for the usually mild Spielberg-Lucas duo. Kate Capshaw's character of Willie is a bit annoying in her whininess, but little Short Round more than makes up for her. "Last Crusade" gives us the immortal Sean Connery as Indy's staid professor father and reunites us with John Rhys-Davies and Denholm Elliott. Perhaps the best of the series, the Joneses go off for the ultimate prize - the Holy Grail! The one-liners are priceless and this set is a must-have for fans of Lucas, Spielberg, Ford and timeless, thrilling adventure as Hollywood used to make it.
Rating: Summary: best movies ever! Review: these 3 movies are the best ever.
raiders of the lost ark: 9/10, VERY GOOD!!!
temple of doom: 6.5/10 out of the three the only bad one
the last crusade: 10/10 THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!! (in my opinion)
buy these movies you won't be disappointed. the box set, although it doesnt have many features, has all three movies, so dont buy it for the features, just buy them for the movies
Rating: Summary: Great fun X 3 Review: It would be difficult to find a better chase scene than the truck chase through the desert in "Raiders..." The whole first movie is essential viewing for anyone who enjoys film adventure. "Crusade" offers up several great chase sequences as well, especially the one involving tanks. The movie seems a bit silly to me at times, bordering on self-parody, but it is great fun overall, and Sean Connery and Harrison Ford work very well together. "Temple" is a little trickier. It is the "black sheep" of the trilogy, and I have generally dismissed it over the years. However, after watching it again on DVD, I didn't think it was so bad after all. It, too, has some great action sequences in it (especially the finale). Some may think it suffers from the overly "girlie" heroine, but it's nice to see different sorts of women in these movies, and Kate Capshaw pretty much nails it as a diva. There is plenty of humor without going over the top as "Crusade" occasionally threatened to do. If voodoo dolls are not quite as satisfying as Nazi goons, well, so what? I'm glad this movie is different from the others.
To sum up, each of these movies still provides great entertainment value, over and over again.
Rating: Summary: Lucasfilm does the fans wrong AGAIN Review: What is with Lucas & Spielberg? You have two of the most successful directors whose tentacles spread far and wide across the pop culture spectrum, yet time after time when it comes to issuing their classics on dvd, short shrift is the order of the day. Like the Star Wars trilogy, all you get here is 4 measly discs, in AMARAY CASES! Again, there are NO commentary tracks. No isolated film scores. NOTHING. The documentary is good, but it just ISN'T ENOUGH. You get the feeling we're being f____d over until HD-DVD / Blu-ray editions come out. If you've never owned these films, they'll suffice. But for long-time fans, Lucas + Spielberg have FAILED once again.
