Rating: Summary: For now.....close enough. Review: Fans have not been able to see and hear THE CROW movies like this before (in the case of Salvation, this is its intro). The Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound & DTS 5.1 Digital Surround Sound further enhance the impact on the senses (the movies are viewable in Widescreen 1.85:1 or full screen Enhanced 16x9). The picture is flawless and the soundtracks gloriously spring from the speakers with added power. The quality of the video and audio alone make owning the re-issue DVDs a must. Miramax was forced to issue the first movie's DVD without Proyas' commentary, or any other supplementals that had his image, which include the advertised Schow 90min "chronicles", a stills presentation taken from pics Schow took, and appx 6mins of the "making of" featurette that featured Proyas. An unfortunate circumstance for sure, but one that dealt with unknown agendas and legal issues not a thumbs down of the disk by Proyas as a previous reviewer has tried to insinuate. The first movie's disk still contains plenty of supplementals to satisfy the fan pallet. The James O'Barr interview is a fantastic look inside the man who created this great story. Deleted scene montage & extended scenes are fantastic looks into things that many fan chat sites have discussed and debated for years. A highly informative "making of" feature that was shot during production; original poster conception art, production design stills, and storyboards. And a highly informative commentary track by Jeff Most (producer) and co-script writer John Shirley . The extras don't stop there, in the DVDrom section there is a trivia game and a commentary playback feature that each in their own right tests the average fans knowledge of THE CROW while also giving us tons of never before seen or heard inside stories and trivia. The text commentary track is of special interest as it flashes information in regard to each scene while the movie plays, in some cases, allowing you to stop the movie to view pictures, more information or connect to the web. Also, the entire original shooting script can be read while you watch the movie. The second movie's disk (The Crow: City of Angels), along with the sound and video enchancements mentioned above, has the best "making of" featurette of the 3 Crow movies. It is over 20mins and is a gem. Along with that, it has an extremely detailed Production & Design featurette that is another great addition, original poster concepts & production design stills (over 50). The commentary track is very informative and unlike the first movie's commentary track, contains most of the people involved in the movie. The DVDrom section has two priceless additions. The full original shoot script of the movie, never before seen by most fans and the complete Chet Williamson novel (which can be printed). Both can be read while the movie plays. Salvation contains three "making of" featurettes, one focusing on the birds which is fantastic, production design featurette and commentary track that unlike the previous two movie's commentary tracks, has the total representation of the main actor/production persons. It is a highly informative track. The DVDrom section features the script. The Crow disk has 11 supplementals, COA has 7 and Salvation has 6. More than enough quality supplementals to purchase these disks.
Rating: Summary: Nothing to CROW about ... Review: First of all, the commentary by ALEX PROYAS is NOT, I REPEAT NOT on this box set! Alex wants nothing to do with this set. Also, the so-called CROW CHRONICLES which was a behind the scenes amateur video shot by screenwriter DAVID SCHOW during filming will also NOT be on this set! This was a 90 minute video!! Why you ask? Well evidently Miramax did not secure the rights to the chronicles before it was advertised to be on this set. Smart huh? Why isn't Alex Proyas doing the commentary? That's simple too, he wants nothing to do with this box set and Miramax in all their wisdom failed to ask him if he would do it before they sent out the promo material. Now I ask you ... is this box set still worth the price of admission with the hour and a half Crow chronicles missing and the audio commentary by Alex Proyas, the film's director not on here? This is not too hard to figure out ...

Rating: Summary: THE CROW WILL LIVE FOREVER! Review: I own everything on the Crow!
Rating: Summary: The Crow is my favorite movie Review: i saw this in 6th grade and has been my favorite movie since. people tell me i look like the crow cuz i wear makeup like him cuz im kind of gothic. i have tears like him and black nailpolish. now for reviews of the movies. the crow is the best of the 3 cuz no one will ever be as good as brandon lee bless his sick soul. he recited edgar allen poe stuff which i think is cool. and i wish i couldve met the guy. he was my idol in the 6th grade along with brad manson or marilyn manson and they still are. city of angels was not my favorite. about the only thing i liked about was the chic eric draven used to take care of cuz she was hot. the acting was pretty sucky. salvation was good cuz i loved the blood and gore which i love in movies like predator. very good movies
Rating: Summary: Touching with a twist of goth Review: my gosh! i love all of the crow movies. each carry it's own unique beauty and art. the first crow was wonderful. brandon lee left me speechless (rest in peace brandon lee). the story line is beautifully done and the action scenes are crazy. the city of angels was beautiful as well. Mia kirshner looked amazing. although it was nothing like the first crow, the city of angels is nevertheless great. the entire movie is very gothic, and the forbidden love story is so touching. salvation is great as well because it was nothing like the previous two. instead of makeup, his face was skarred (adding a more dramatic effect to the movie as a whole). its a wonderful set. i recommend everyone to go buy it. but if you more into action films then i guess this movie wouldnt appeal to you beacuse the crow has alot of art in it as well rather than just plain action.

Rating: Summary: The Crow Movies in One Easy To Carry Box Review: Okay, lets just take this sucker movie by movie, shall we? THE CROW--- Easily the best of the three. If you watch all three in a row actually, this one actually improves in your memory, even though its pretty close to flawless the first time. Alex Proyas has an expert hand in direction(which he also showcases in the excellent "Dark City"), the script is tight and inventive, and Brandon Lee's performance is, quite simply, perfect. It really is too sad that he died shooting this movie, because he would have been star after this. In a sad way though, he really was. 10/10 THE CROW: CITY OF ANGELS--- Its not as bad as a lot of people say, but its not great either. As a matter of fact, it pretty much bathes in its mediocrity. The set deisgns, done by the same guy who did the first one and a lot of the Cure videos, is impressive, and the mood is appriopartly moody. The plot isn't half bad, but the direction is pretty much none existant, leaving the actors pretty much to fend for themselves. 6/10 THE CROW: SALVATION--- I didn't have very high hopes for this movie since it went directly to video, so I wasn't dissapointed by what I got. They tried to make a few changes to the formula which was nice, but this movie is so heavy handed that its highly unlikely that you really care. Features Kirsten Dunst of "Spider-Man" fame which is amusing. 5/10 So, should you buy "the Crow" box set? Yeah, you might as well. Just do the math really: the first Crow by itself costs twenty bucks, but the whole box costs thirty. So its pretty much like you buy the first one, and you get the other to for the price of a rental, but you don't ahve to return them. And if you really hate them, you can always sell them used, right?
Rating: Summary: Blow by Blow by Blow Review: The Crow - An absolutely brilliant film, and one of the best adaptations of a book (or graphic novel, for that matter) I've seen. James O'Barr's twisted world is conveyed perfectly. My only issue with the film stems solely from my unbridled passion for the book: Eric isn't nearly as demented in the film as he ought to be. Book!Eric had absolutely and completely lost his mind in his hunger for revenge, where Film!Eric was a teeny bit twisted sometimes. This is easily ignored, though, in light of the excellent acting, directing, cinematography, etc. The Crow: City of Angels - My personal favourite of the three. Sarah, the little girl from the first film, returns as an incredibly hhhhot young woman. She guides Ash, the new Crow, seamlessly bringing in the mythology and spirituality of the first film. Iggy Pop costars as The Villian With The Coolest Death Scene Ever, exuding insanity and badassitude. The visuals set the perfect mood, somehow transforming L.A. into a believeably dark and broken city, and the imagery and themes of the Day of the Dead celebrations running throughout the film are perfect. The Crow: Salvation - I didn't like this film nearly as well as the other two, mostly because it didn't bring in any of the totemic and mystical themes for which the series ought to be known, and because the high-school-boyfriend concept seemed a little immature compared to the other Crows. However, it was deliciously dark and violent, and I'm a sucker for the mystery element, something that the other Crow films lacked. This boxed set is definitely worth one's time, if one can resist the urge to pick at the minor flaws - just sit back and enjoy the ride. And one should definitely do a search in the books section for 'The Crow'.
