Summary: ...........I............don't know.
Review: This movie had an intersting concept, okay- an awesome concept, but it was executed poorly. Don't you think that if a ship the size of Mercury would be detected by NASA before it parked next to the moon? And wouldn't it's parking spot have a tidal effect on earth? If these octopus men in the big flying saucers flew ninety million light-years to destroy cities with one laser blast, don''t you think that they would've heard of a computer virus? But what the hey, ID4 doesn't slow down for logical details like that. An attention span is not required with a flick like this. Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich think they're tough stuff, ID4's box-office invasion cashed in more money than Star Wars, and then, when TriStar snagged the rights for the Godzilla franchise in 1995, they new who to turn to. Boy were they wrong. After one year of short, cryptic previews on E! and in theaters, the buzz began for the update of Big G. I quess the ID4 duo got a big confidence boost from all of the hype Godzilla got, and they whipped up a paper thin plot that reduced you to snores. This happened with Stargate, which resulted in a mild sleeper success, and in ID4, though it made millions. Godzilla was a victim of too much hype, and by now, the Devlin and Emmerich boys have proved themselves to be unoriginal buffoons who like special effects. Boys, boys, boys. A movie that it all style and no substance can insult the intelligence of the viewer, but if it is so bad that it reflects your sense of storytelling, it needs to be redone. Characters are important. And they're needs to be a sense of logic and feasability in you idea. Don't just add oblagatory dialogue that will only boost the plot, make us care about the people in it. In ID4 and Godzilla, I found myself anxiously waiting for the aliens and the big green guy. I didn't give a flip about these people because they were all too stereotypical. Sorry buds, but your movie trailers are worth more than your storytelling talent. If I made a movie, I would read every review I could, watch the movie over and over until I had every mistake that I made pinned down. Then I would try no to make those mistakes in my next movie. Maybe the Dreadfull Duo think that they know more than us, and they do the same thing repeatedly. Why do people remake only the good movies, and make fools of themselves in doing it? Why not remake movies that weren't good enough, and do it right? Cause' someone needs to show these boy's how it is done.

Review: What an awful movie. And to think I almost bought this before I rented it. Sure, the special effects are good, but.....well....that's it. I actually want people to see this so they can see on of Hollywoods greatest screw-ups. In fact, I won't even say anything about this movie, see it for yourself. (You'll need lots of coffee, no-doze, etc.)

Summary: One of the best sci-fi movies ever made!
Review: Will Smith created humor for the movie and action. The other actors in the movie also did well. The movie was very entertaining from beginning to end. Special effects were great. Very good and interesting plot. Almost everything about the movie is good. Too bad movies like this can't be made more often.

Review: I don't know why the hell this got only three stars. I thought everything about it was awesome. The acting and special effects were awesome.

Summary: YAWN!!!!!!!!!
Review: Why this movie was so popular, I will never understand. And to think I almost bought this before I rented it! Sure, the special effects were good, but, well, I was just bored! I have seen better plots in B-rated movies than this. To many coincidences. I could go on and on, but I won't waste my time. To be honest, people should watch this movie just to see how Hollywood CAN make mistakes!!!

Summary: Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?
Review: The plot holds as much water as a sieve, and the charcters are as well-defined and developed as a drawerful of sock puppets, but the explosions are mighty gratifying. In hindsight, it wasn't worth the $7.50 for big screen hoo-ha at the local multiplex, and it's even a questionable rental, if you're having to pay more than $1.

Can't wait to see this one on MST3K.

Summary: Where was the RAF ?
Review: Come to that where was the USAF... The cutting edge of Planet Earths air defence against alien attack seems to be the brave boys of the USMC and their F18s. Seriously, this would have been a lot more fun for a non-american (most of us are you know)if this story could have been internationalised just a teensy bit. Perhaps just to the extent of showing other countries forces in action.

It's obviously meant to be a satire of every sci-fi movie you've ever seen... but they overdid it. At times it descends to the level of a cartoon. That said and leaving aside some of the appalling characterisations, this is an awful lot of fun on a Crash, Bang, Wallop level. I do wish it could have taken itself a little more seriously though; there is a really gripping story in there somewhere.

Nominations for action scenes that should have been filmed but weren't: (1). US Aircraft Carrier Air Wing taking on an Alien Ship. Said Alien ship subsequently taking out US Aircraft Carrier. (2). (purely partisan this) RAF in action against Alien ship over London. (We Brits got quite a favourable mention in 'War of the Worlds' you know).

Nominations for most fortuitous happenstance of the movie;

(1). That the giant alien ships actually bothered to enter the Earths atmosphere before blowing up our cities. Most people wouldn't have known what was happening otherwise. The only way we could have faught back would have been to launch ICBMs from the off (If they were in range). Jeff Goldblum really would have gone on a bender then.

Lastly, quote of the movie; President Pullman, "Why wasn't I told about this ?" CIA Chief, "Two words, Mr President, Plausable Deniability". I've enjoyed using that one.

Summary: It lets you down time and time again...
Review: When I saw the movie "Broken Arrow," I saw the trailer to this film. The trailer was awesome. The trailer struck a chord in me. Deep down inside, I really was wondering what mankind (and the USA in particular) would do against superior alien beings bent on destroying the world.

That wall of flame flipping the cars over...the White House getting decimated...I wanted to see Broken Arrow (after all, I had paid money to see it), but I REALLY WANTED to see Independence Day.

Man...what a waste! I can't write that enough, so let me write it one more time (so I don't go over Amazon's 1000-word limit)...WHAT A WASTE!!!

I don't want these people to make movies anymore. They just can't make a good movie. They can't. I seriously believe that. This movie sucked. "Godzilla" sucked (Oh, man, did that suck...!). In fact, it's their first movie that had any germ of creativity or plot in it ("Stargate"), and even that was a lukewarm production.

This movie is bad. Avoid it. You'll be thankful you did.

Summary: Entertaining, but not as good as the older similar movies
Review: I personally liked the older movies, to which this one was compared, much much more. It was full of special effects, but aimed toward the lower age groups, I believe. Entertaining is about all I can say for it, but if you miss it, you'll live! If you are looking for something to fill time, this one is probably a good bet.
