Summary: No DTS Audio Track on Aliens or Alien 3!
Review: I have to agree with many of the other reviewers, only Alien and Aliens are worth watching. Alien 3 and Resurrection are absolutely awful. That's probably why Fox didn't release the single movie editions at the same time, hoping people will fork over the bucks for this set. They also try and attract the fence sitters by including a 9th disc only available in this set. Well I'm not biting. You'll have to wait until Jan. 6 to get your hands on the single movie two disc releases, which I plan to do.

Apparently, this set took a year to produce and is claimed to be the ultimate. It didn't take me 10 minutes to find a major flaw in the set. Only Alien and Resurrection have DTS audio tracks. Producers claim there was not enough disc space to include the DTS track due to the length of Aliens and Alien 3. I find this extremely hard to believe. Terminator 2 Ulimate Edition is two minutes longer than Aliens SE and that disc had an audio commentary, Dolby Digital EX, AND DTS ES. Bunch of BS if you asked me. The lack of a DTS track on Aliens is a major goof and, as such, just dropped the title from my reference list.

Also, the art and foldout packaging really sucks.

These blunders are nothing new from Fox. Keep in mind, they are the same bunch of bozos that gave us the non-anamorphic special edition DVD of The Abyss. Get a clue Fox!

Summary: Aspect Ratio of "Alien" and "Aliens" is Flip-flopped
Review: Ridley Scott's "Alien" is 2.35 anamorphic aspect ratio; James Cameron's "Aliens" is 1.85 anamorphic aspect ratio. This has been listed incorrectly in the technical specifications of these movies.

Summary: Aliens film transfer
Review: For everyone who will undoubtedly complain about the film transfer of Aliens, it is the very same transfer used for the previous DVD release...Jim Cameron was completely satisfied with that version. He used a high-grain film stock on that movie anyway, to give it a rougher feel, similar to how a documentary film feels "more real"...which is something he definitely achieved on Aliens. Besides, not every film should look razor sharp and high-definition...in some cases, that robs a film of some of its character (Star Wars). Aliens is a film that has character in spades.

This is a great collection even for people who felt the third and fourth films were an abomination, just for the extras on the making of those two films...don't even bother watching the films, but watch the extras!

Summary: completely out of this world..
Review: Even the packaging itself is beyond belief. It's not an extended special, or the ultimate edition. With a big underestimation, it is THE SUBLIME edition. Having heard that the UK copy has some "corrections", this is the only version to get satisfied. It surely sets a bold new standard for any upcoming dvd set. Very highly recommended!

Summary: The Best Collection Ever
Review: Having been a huge fan of the Alien series since I was thirteen this set is the definitive collection for the series. Offering seperate versions for each of the films and the biggest collection of bonus materials I've seen since "Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition". My favorite is "Aliens" and to finally have commentary for this film is excellent. Buy this set and I gaurantee you will be satisfied.

Summary: cool dvd set
Review: I haven't finished all the dvds yet but just watched the special edition of alien3. It is excellent, the edition tells more clearly to the story and they even change some parts in the story. And remember, you get 40 hrs of extra in those 5 extra dvds. This is a must buy for alien fans.

P.S. I preorder this item last week in amazon, and it arrived today. This is a surprise!!!

Summary: Best DVD Sci-fi, Action & Horror Collection Ever.
Review: Hands down the most definitive collection for sci-fi, action and horror collectors. Get this before the release of "Alien vs. Predator" so you have the entire collection.

These movies are not just cool due to the appearance of the aliens in them. The surreal artistry of H. R. Giger makes the original a classic.

Each movie has two versions. I like the slight alterations in the story digitally masterfully edited so that the movie holds its own merit in either version. If that wasn't enough you get documentaries, photo galleries, original nostalgic movie trailers, crew-commentary and more. Its a very thorough treatment of the 4 movies.

As a DVD collector this is one of the best purchases I have ever made due to its entertainment value and price. Thnks to all involved in this DVD collection.

Summary: Hurmm....
Review: The Alien "Quadrilogy" is without a doubt the most comprehensive DVD collection to date. I don't generally buy DVDs for the extras, but I was quite impressed with the sheer quantity of supplemental material featured herein (more than I'll ever be able to watch, even if I were so inclined). Less impressive - maddening, really - is the fact that no one involved with the production of this outstanding set of discs realized that "quadrilogy" is not a word. It's "tetralogy," folks. Basic English. Sheesh.
