Rating: Summary: DO NOT give Rhino your money. Review: As others have stated, Rhino does not deliver on what was advertised for the release of Too Close For Comfort Season one. Unedited episodes with cast commentary and photo gallery extras were promised, however there are NO extras, and as mentioned before, the episodes are edited, syndication episodes. I have emailed Rhino (drrhino@rhino.com) stating my displeasure. I encourage any other fans, and owners who were ripped off, to write to Rhino stating your displeasure and that you will not support any other products by Rhino unless they resolve the manner by recalling the current batch of Too Close For Comfort DVDs and replacing them with the promised format, UNEDITED episodes with cast commentaries and photo gallery. While they are at it, they may as well add a "jukebox" feature where they include the ability to listen to the opening, closing (unedited) themes, and any alternates. Furthermore, suggest that if the have the rights to release any further seasons, that they deliver what they promise. If not, they may as well let another company release any other Too Close For Comfort products, and get it right.

Rating: Summary: I really enjoyed this DVD! Review: First of all: to all of you who written bad critics sayin that Rhino did a poor job, I don't agree. You got to realize that this show is not a huge hit, they knew they wouldn't sell as much as shows like Seinfeld, Sex And The City, Buffy, Cheers, M*A*S*H. So they couldn't invest tons of money in the making of this series to DVD considering the approx. amount of units they would sell.
I was really happy with this release, I laughed a lot and even if the picture quality is average, the sound is correct. If you liked this series when you were a kid, or if you would like to discover this serie for the first time, don't hesitate, It'll make you laugh....a lot! Can't wait for season 2......if they ever release it!
Rating: Summary: EDITED! CUT! INCOMPLETE! AVOID ! Sigh.... Review: Here we go again, another TV series with EDITED versions on DVD. Why should we pay good money for cut shows? The uncut versions are readily available, but someone probably didn't want to spend a few extra dollars to remaster them, so instead they dump the syndication prints on the market and hope the consumer is too dumb to notice.
If you buy this set, saying it isn't a big deal...let me ask you a question. Would you be upset if you bought a book from Amazon and then found out that 10 to 15 % of the pages had been removed? OF COURSE YOU WOULD! This is no different.
Boycott this and the many other edited TV shows on DVD (the list is growing, sadly) and send polite letters to Rhino Home Video telling them why they aren't getting your money.
AVOID THIS SET!
Rating: Summary: What a rip off! Review: I posted a review earlier and amazon pulled it after a few days ...why are they doing that all of a sudden??! Anyway, what others report here is true. ALL the episodes are missing about 3 minutes worth of scenes and dialogue! Rhino is allegedly working to correct this so they can re-release the set, but for those of us who were already ripped off, this news is too little too late. I won't be buying any more Rhino DVD's until I know for certain that they are what Rhino claims they are. ...Complete season? HA!
Rating: Summary: I will purchase this series when... Review: I will purchase this series when they release all of the episodes UNEDITED. I will also then change my star rating from 1 to 5.
Rating: Summary: Please explain... Review: the point in releasing TV shows if they are hacked to pieces?
Why even bother?
Rating: Summary: ZERO STARS!!!! Review: The previous 'reviewer' who tried to make a gaggle of excuses for the flaws in this set is the perfect example of the sort of apathy many manufacturers LOVE to see in response to their substandard products.
You wouldn't buy a book that was missing pages. WHY buy a DVD of either a movie or some TV show that is missing scenes?
The sound and picture quality on these episodes really are as bad as the others have said. If they'd included ANY original prints, you would've been able to see the difference. Syndicated copies of ANY show are always a lot less crisp in both sound and picture because they aren't first generation.
Rhino really did blow it, sorry to say. But one other reason I won't buy any more Too Close For Comfort discs from them - even if they DO end up releasing season two - is I wasn't just bummed out to see all the shows cut to shreds, I was bummed out to see that it wasn't nearly as funny as I remembered it. When I was 8 years old, this stuff worked. But now? Nah, don't think so.
Ted Knight was ten billion X's funner as Ted Baxter. Let's just hope that Rhino never gets its grubby little hands on The Mary Tyler Moore Show! If they can't get it right with this third rate show, they have no business touching a true classic.
Rating: Summary: False Advertising Review: The word 'complete' is defined in Websters as 'having all its parts, not lacking anything'. But since all these episodes are shorter than when ABC first showed them, this set is not at all complete.
On top of that, the sound and picture on this heap of garbage are so bad that it is unwatchable. When I took my copy back to Best Buy they let me exchange it for something totally different because other customers returned their copies complaining about the same thing.
At least the stores are making good on this mistake.
Hey, Rhino! What are YOU going to do about it?!
Rating: Summary: EDITED EPISODES Review: THIS BOX SET OF "TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT" DOES NOT INCLUDE THE FULL, ORIGINAL BROADCAST VERSIONS OF THE PROGRAM. IT HAS THE SYNDICATED/EDITED VERSION OF THE SHOW. YOU MIGHT AS WELL WAIT UNTIL THE SHOW AIRS ON CABLE. YOU WILL SEE THE SAME VERSION ON THESE DVD DISCS.
Rating: Summary: Never settle for less Review: You wouldn't want to buy a book that was missing pages, so why would you pay for a DVD copy of some TV show or movie that was missing scenes?
The previous post was written by someone who is willing to settle for substandard merchandise at an inflated price. I am NOT willing to settle, so I returned my copy of this DVD.
Sure wish I'd read these postings beforehand, I could have saved myself all that trouble.
Caveat Emptor!
