Summary: Coming Home to Proividence
Review: I was so glad to see that a collection of episodes was made on DVD for "Providence", It was priced lower than most box sets and that was appreciated. I don't subsicribe to the theory that I msut own every episode of a tv show, a highlights collection suits me fine.

That said I think they could have included a few more episodes featuring the Robbie/Heather storyline. Perhaps if they do a "Second set"? If not I can always tape some of those episodes off "Lifetime".

THe DVD product was well done with wonderful commentary by the cast and crew. I haven't gotten through all of it yet, but am enjoying it very much. Good job all around on this production, though I miss the "In my Life" theme song - Sony probably is charging an arm and a leg to include it on the collection.

I'd recommend it to other "Providence" fans.

Summary: Great Show!
Review: Providence is a show that portrays the trials of the Hansen family and how they dealt with it. The main character, Sydney Hansen (Melina Kanakaredes) was a doctor in cosmetic surgery but after leaving Los Angeles where she practiced, she worked in a low-income medical clinic in her hometown of Providence. At home, she lives with her father (Mike Farrel), her brother Robbie (Seth Peterson), her sister Joanie (Paula Cale), and the spirit of her deceased mother (Concetta Tomei) who passes away in the first episode.

Episodes are as follows:
1.) Pilot - Aired January 8, 1999
Dr. Sydney Hansen, a plastic surgeon in Los Angeles, makes a journey home to Providence, Rhode Island to attend her pregnant sister's wedding.

2.) Home Again - Aired January 15, 1999
Sydney Hansen resettles in Providence and her dreams begin to by intruded by her late mother.

3.) Tying the Knot - Aired February 12, 1999
Joanie suddenly decides to marry the father of her child, but Syd has doubts about the marriage.

4.) The Letter - Aired October 1, 1999
On the first anniversary of Lynda's death, the Hansens agree to celebrate her life with a memorial dinner.

5.) Don't Go Changin' - Aired March 31, 2000
The Hansens decided to throw Jim a suprise 60th birthday party. Joanie gives Dog Boy ("Ed's" Tom Cavanagh guest stars) the confidence to follow a dream.

6.) The Thanksgiving Story - Aired November 24, 2000
Two-hour Thanksgiving episode; the Hansen clan tries to have an idyllic family Thanksgiving. Joanie thinks she might be pregnant again.

7.) Falling - Aired May 18, 2001
Syd considers cutting her ties with Joe Connelly after meeting his wife. Robbie's relationship with Tina (Maria Pitillo guest stars) falters. As Jim Hansen is walking with his faithful dog, Fearless, he is injured in a drive-by shooting.

8.) Best Man - Aired November 2, 2001
Chaos abounds as wedding bells ring for Robbie and Tina

9.) Act Naturally - Aired March 22, 2002
Syd and Joanie take a trip to Los Angeles and Syd contemplates returing to L.A. permanently. Joanie gets cast in a horror movie.

10.) A New Beginning - Aired October 4, 2002
Syd begins working at an acute care clinic ER under a new boss. Owen (George Newbern) poses an important question for Syd.

11.) Eye of the Storm - Aired December 13, 2002
Syd's good intentions put her in harm's way a week before her wedding. Robbie and Tina get a suprise visitor at the B&B.

12.) The Eleventh Hour - Aired December 21, 2002
Series two-hour finale; Syd prepares to embark on a new life with Owen until a hostage situation at the ER threatens her marital bliss.

This show won my heart the first time I ever saw it and I was a dedicated fan until it ended in 2002. I, like any other fan of the show, was sad to see it go but nothing lasts forever. I recommend buying this DVD. It has 12 of the better episodes of this series. Hopefully someday in the future, someone will put together the entire series on DVD.

P.S. If you want to watch all the old episodes of Providence, watch Lifetime. It aires at 1:00pm and 8:00pm.

Summary: There are places I remember...
Review: Sydney Hansen, a plastic surgeon from Los Angeles, realizes that she has disconnected from her family after years of building a sucessful career. In an attempt to reconnect with them, she moves back to her hometown of Providence, Rhode Island, after the breakup of a long-term relationship. Syd and her family reunite and over the course of the show stick together through thick and thin, through triumph and tribulation.

Providence is a well-written show that was breath of fresh air on television, and now this DVD perseves some of the best episodes.

Providence is perhaps one of the most underrated TV dramas of its time. It was a top rated show in the 1999-2000 season, but was snubbed of many, well deserved, Emmy Nominations.

Providence is about family, and always has a heart-warming message amidst the humor and drama.

Summary: The Providence Collection DVD ( 4 disks/12 episodes)
Review: The first disk of the four disk collection we received was suppose to have 4 episodes, but our first disk only had 2 episodes. What happened to episodes 3 & 4? We enjoyed the episodes that we did get, that's why we rate it 2 stars instead of 1 star. (Disappointed Providence fan)

Summary: Hope to get some more...
Review: The Show is awesome. But the DVD must have the subtitle option.

Summary: When are we going to get all the Seasons on DVD?
Review: This is a great DVD box set but what's wrong with NBC? Do they not think this show is good enough to warrant ALL complete seasons on DVD?

Does anyone have the word on whether they plan to release all the episodes or not? It would be ridiculous if they didn't. I think this show had a strong following and I think they should consider the fans.

Summary: Please release the entire series on DVD
Review: This show was, and continues to be quality TV. To release only certain episodes from individual seasons is to not offer this delightful program its due justice. I'll no doubt purchase this DVD, but I'll never be satisfied until I am able to view every episode over and over again.
