Summary: Streisand DVD Set
Review: It's really unfortunate that the first review posted on this site regarding this DVD set is by someone who is rude and disgusting. I don't ever want to read about someone deficating. Ok you didn't like it, but do you have to be so sick and cruel on top of it? Streisand is far from washed up. LOL

I'm a long time fan and Barbra's new DVD set is wonderful. I personally liked "What's Up Doc" the best and appreciated the featurette on the filming of the movie. I think the selection offers great variety on part of her film career and shows diversity in her acting roles. "Up The Sandbox" is a special film and one that everyone who is even curios about Streisand should watch. It shows a whole different side of her and her performance is very genuine. I highly recommend this box set.

Summary: Great set. But who designs the AWFUL box cover graphics?
Review: Someone should tell the folks at Warner Brothers that the horrible purple/pink colors they're using over the photo are neither appealing, nor modern looking. It's quite blah.

That being said, the chance to own the hysterical "What's Up, Doc?" should not be passed up by anyone who appreciates great comedic performances, a script by Buck (The Graduate) Henry, and the most amazing San Francisco bicycle and car chase sequence ever filmed. Streisand does a sizzling version of Cole Porter's "You're the Top" over the title credits and the craziness of four mixed up identical suitcases brought together at a San Francisco hotel begins. Ryan O'Neal is funny as a musicologist who's attending a convention with his taskmaster fiance, played by the late, great Madelaine Kahn. Henry and the other writers were inspired by the great 30's screwball comedy, "Bringing up Baby." O'Neal may not be Cary Grant. But he's darn good. And Streisand has rarely been better. Her timing is excellent and the character of Judy is charming and super-smart. Streisand is just as good as Katharine Hepburn was in "... Baby."

"Nuts" gives her another chance to shine, with strong support from Richard Dreyfuss. Some have commented that it's a little tough to believe her as a $200 per hour hooker. Well, both she and the film look good under the direction of Martin Ritt. It's a very good film.

Perhaps the biggest find for many folks will be "Up the Sandbox," which while not a great film is certainly an interesting one. Ms. Streisand gives a very toned down and realistic performance. There is none of the scene chewing that marred the otherwise very good "Mirror Has Two Faces." She's just herself, which is more than enough. She proves in these first three films she is one of the greatest and most versatile actresses of the 20th Century. People who only think of her as a singer, will be amazed.

"The Main Event" is a silly piece of junk, best forgotten even by the biggest Streisand fans. Bad script, direction, music and just about everything else. It takes no risks either in humor or story. Ryan O'Neal is back, hoping to recapture the magic from seven years before. But this is no "What's Up, Doc?" It's probably best enjoyed by serious Streisand fans.

Summary: I would rather poop in a seashell and hear the ocean...
Review: than listen to one more minute of this garbage. She is washed up, get over it, when was the last time she had a hit? My mother listens to this hot garbage. I think Streisand realized she was now terrible and she quit. She has never ever been a 4 on the 1-10 scale of looks either. She is where she belongs, retired, at home hiding that schnooze of hers.
