Summary: Paranoid, gory and above all, brilliant!
Review: This is a true gem among horror films. In fact, it's so good that it joins "Psycho", "Halloween" and "Suspiria" as the absolute best of the genre. Directed with stylish brilliance by the great Sam Raimi, the film is actually a lot scarier than you might imagine. Here's a tip to make it really scary: imagine that you're Ash, really live into mood. Trust me, it worked on me, it almost got me paranoid. Except for Raimi's unmatched visualgenius, the film also features an outstanding performance from the ever-so underrated Bruce Campbell. The best of the series, even though Campbell gave even better performances in the sequels. A must-see!

Review: get this movie! If you like horror movies, get the EVIL DEAD! It is my fav. horror film. I cannot say enough good things about it! There is one scene with a tree and a woman though, that is sorta "obscene". You will have to watch it to find out however...

Summary: GREAT MOVIE!
Review: What a movie! The UK version is a couple of minutes shorter due to our cencership laws and when I ordered the US version it is much better. An all time classic that never fails to stomach churn!

Summary: Raimi's Horror Classic!
Review: Evil Dead is one of the most savage, stylish, bloodiest, and creative horror movies I've seen. The low budget actually adds to the movies effect and atmosphere, and the gore spills out in buckets. Don't take that lightly. This movie is gross. Very gross. It's easily the most violent of the series, so I would not reccomend it to those with weak stomachs (but if you're one of those people, why are you reading this review anyway?). It lacks the relentless pacing and hysterical black-humored slapstick of the second, but still tops it in gross-out value. The third in the series, Army of Darkness dosen't even compare.

Summary: Frighteningly grotesque and hilariously chilling
Review: This is one of the best transfers to dvd for a crummy low-budget first rate horror flick from the early 80's. Cross between Friday the 13th,the Excorcist and the Adams Family. Great movie to add to any collection.

Summary: The best ever...
Review: This is easily the best horror movie ever made! The story starts off with a bunch of friends heading into the woods to stay at a friends cabin. When they get there they discover a book bound in human flesh, and thats where the fun starts. Director/writer Sam Raimi spares us no gory details in documenting the untimely demise of all of the characters. The guts and gore come fast and furious and you have barely recovered from the last mind-numbing experience in terror before you are nailed square between the eyes with another. This is a great movie to help you get a little closer to the girlfriend!

Summary: Low budget at its BEST!!!
Review: Bruce Campbell and his friends go to a log cabin in the woods for a nice vacation. But soon they find a bizzare book and a tape recorder. The trouble begins when they play the recorder and voicce reads out loud the incantation to rise THE EVIL DEAD!!! One by one each one is possesed. Excellent special effects! Followed By Evil Dead 2: Dead by dawn and Army of Darkness. Directed by Sam Raimi of Darkman. Made by college school mates!

Summary: One of the best horror films of all time
Review: I've read reviews before saying The Evil Dead ils overrated. If anything, it's underrated. The first film in the Evil Dead trilogy is one of the best horror films of all time. Army of Darkness is the other great movie in the trilogy, just as good as The Evil Dead. I thought Evil Dead 2 was overrated. For a super low budget, The Evil Dead still comes out looking more realistic and superb. I've read that The Evil Dead was filmed in Morristown, Tennessee. Where Exactly?

Summary: A horrror classic
Review: I've read reviews all over that Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn is the best of the series and The Evil Dead is the weakest. No Way! Evil Dead is a classic, it's special effects better than Evil Dead 2 and even the setting is more realistic. I felt the comedy ruined the sequel because it was the pure terror that made Evil Dead so great. Although I didn't like the comedy mixed with horror, I still loved Army of Darkness because that movie didn't pretend to be a horror film but a complete laugh out. The Evil Dead is just as good as Army of Darkness and both rightly deserve their status as classics.

Summary: a great film made greater...
Review: This dvd really brings to life this true cult classic. Sam Raimi should be extremly proud of the justice given to this masterpeice by elite entertainment. The myriads of bad videos just do not compare to this digitally remastered version of the ultimate experience in grueling terror!
