Summary: Yes, it's that good.
Review: Customer reviews are generally written by the diehard fans. I can't claim to be any different when it comes to Led Zeppelin. Still, the music on this DVD is astounding. Plenty has been written about the pain staking efforts that were put into producing the DVD -- especially in restoring the pictures and sound -- and it shows. This DVD succeeds on many levels, but none more than as a direct, no frills concert film. In that way, it is not too much different from the music. Those who appreciate Led Zeppelin and the album-oriented blues-based rock of late 60's and 70's will find a lot to like about this. Those thinking it might be intersting to get this because of that little snipet of a Led Zeppelin tune on a car commerical will probably be disappointed. This is the antithesis of the 3-minute pop tune.

Summary: Zeppelin for the 21st Century
Review: What can be said that hasn't already been said? I have listened to all Zeppelin albums over and over backwards and forwards and they always leave me wanting more. This is MORE!!!
If you want to why Zeppelin has never reunited, watch this DVD and witness the interaction between these four people. John "Bonzo" Bonham was more than just another drummer. Bonzo was and is still the greatest rock drummer that ever picked up a pair of sticks. People today think that a drummer is just another replaceable timekeeper. Bonzo was an individual that fit in with three other individuals to make Rock magic. If you ever saw any of the "reunion" performances of the surviving members, you now know why they always seemed to fall a little flat. Bonzo wasn't there behind the drums laying it down.
This DVD should be required viewing for any young, up and coming musicians(especially drummers). If this doesn't inspire a musician to pick up his instrument and rock out, then you don't get it and you probably never will.
From the young, hungry days at the Royal Albert Hall to the Knebworth festival of 1979, these were 4 amazing musicians that made amazing music that will continue to inspire new generations for years to come! Anyone who considers themself a musician and don't know Zeppelin, should pick this up, watch it and woodshed on their instrument. This is what a hard driving rock band sounds like.

Review: If you ever went to a Zeppelin concert you will know what this DVD is all about. If you haven't, you will see why this band was number two behind the Beattles in number of albums sold. Any fan will like this DVD.

Summary: One of the greatest
Review: I have always enjoyed listening to Led Zeppelin, but never fully appreciated them, until I watched this DVD. I could not tear myself away from watching it. The visual effects were great, and of course the music itself was awesome. Jimmy Page and D. Carruthers did an awesome job on producing this, and I would recommend all Led Zep fans to have this for their collection. Watching them live made me fully appreciate this all time greatest band ever. Due to the quality of this DVD, you forget that it was so long ago....

Summary: I'm not even a big fan; yet the early stuff blew me away!!!
Review: I am not a big Led Zeppelin fan, but I do love live music in general which is why I bought this. The early Led Zeppelin on this DVD-- Albert Hall in 1970 and the television performances in 1969 -- is so frenetic and rocking that it blew me away. Wow!

The performance for Iceland TV in 1969 features close up and clear view of Jimmy Page's crazy fingers roaring through a "Communication Breakdown" solo plus 3 other numbers. It's nice how clear and clean the TV camera is compared to concert film. You can often see alot more detail.

The 1969 appearance for a French variety show features LZ ripping through a set for a bunch of old people who are sitting on their hands and not cheering, and one little boy in the front rows with his fingers in his ears. Crazy! However, when Page starts using a violin bow on his guitar the fuddy duddies can't help themselves and sit on the edge of seats with their curiosity about the high octane freak show they are witnessing. They still don't cheer or dance however. Bizarre and funny.

Also the actual sound recording on this DVD sounds fantastic and I don't even have surround sound on my TV. Through a high quality stereo it will put you right there.

Summary: Unbelievable, you must witness this DVD
Review: Words cannot truly do justice to this collection, which is, simply put, awesome. Before this, I was still a Led Zeppelin fan, however I only truly appreciated them for their riff-laden, harder-rocking stuff. After seeing this DVD, I am now one of the biggest Zep fans out there and now truly realize the musical brilliance of these four amazingly gifted musicians. This DVD is both eye-opening and awe-inspiring, that's what it all comes down to for someone such as myself who was born well after Zeppelin had met its end with the tragic death of John Bonham. There are a million reasons to buy this collection, here are the five big ones, in no particular order: 1.Moby Dick - John Bonham's epic drum solo extraordinaire firmly puts aside any doubts that he truly IS the greatest rock drummer there ever was, and likely ever will be. It's no wonder Led Zeppelin had to disband after his death, there's no replacing "Bonzo". This drum solo is easily the most memorable single section of the collection, it's over 13 minutes of utter freneticism and majesty, as he starts off with the drum sticks, and God, could that man play, but then when he puts the drumsticks down and starts playing a manic solo with his bare hands, you know this is no ordinary drummer... 2. White Summer - whereas Bonzo affirmed his status as the greatest at his instrument with Moby Dick, Jimmy Page proves that he is, if not the best, among the top three guiatarists there ever was, and White Summer is the most memorable showing from him on here, just an incredible guitar solo by Page...not to be missed. 3. Stairway to Heaven - Jimmy Page does an absolutely phenomenal job on the guitar solo here, it far surpasses the legendary guitar solo on the studio version, and that's saying quite a bit, and Robert Plant does an EXCELLENT job singing this one, except for perhaps the last verse or so, but it's still very commendable. 4. In My Time of Dying - improves upon the studio version, if that's even possible. This atmosphere created by the lighting, etc...on stage, creates a epic mood of far more grandeur than if you are not watching it. Also, the memorable riff in the middle of the song is slightly clearer here than in studio. 5. Achilles Last Stand - this is the true gem of the whole package, and worth the price alone. It captures the essence of Led Zeppelin perfectly...inspired drumming from John Bonham, rock solid bass-playing from the much under-appreciated John Paul Jones, charismatic singing from the versatile Robert Plant, and captivating guitar-playing from the incomparable Jimmy Page. Possibly the most epic, the grandest, fieriest song in Zeppelin's catalogue, this is a picture-perfect version of Achilles Last Stand. Of course there are other fine moments on the CD as well, the folk-song trio, with Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp being the highlight of those, and the Dazed and Confused guitar solo, with violin bow, are other great moments, but really, overall, this set is five and a half hours of non-stop magic. Led Zeppelin had a stage presence like no other...Jimmy Page, dancing around with his long black hair, Robert Plant's unimitable strutting around the stage, the tight precision of the music and the grand solos, this was a band that set the bar so high that it is very unlikely any band after them has and ever will come close to holding claim to being as worthy as Led Zeppelin. This DVD collection helps to capture it for a whole new generation such as myself. My only complaint: that this live set of songs isn't also available on audio CD. Yes, How the West Was Won has a portion of them, and I'm sure they are equally admirable versions, however it only captures Led Zep's early half of work, there is no epic In My Time of Dying, or Achilles Last Stand, or Kashmir, or Trampled Underfoot, etc...and it's a shame, so if they would ever come out with a CD version of these live renditions, that would also be a treat for listening on long car trips, etc... Granted, it'd be more like a 4 or 5 CD set, but it'd be worth it for sure. Altogether, there is no knock on the DVD set itself, it is a fantastic chronology of possibly the greatest band to ever rock the Earth. Many a heartfelt thanks to the one and only Jimmy Page and company for unearthing this material so that its magic could be shared with all.

Summary: MASTERPIECE
Review: *Drool* My god this is a beautiful DVD. Can you say orgasmic??? I had goosebumps the whole time I watched it. Jimmy Page is absolutely AMAZING!!! He is a pure guitar playing genius. Bonham is a rocking feisty animal on those drums, Jones is excellent on the bass...and Plant...aaaah beautiful singing lyrical genius.

These guys are terrific. I ORGASMIC is the only word to describe this dvd. If you like Zeppelin...especially if you love Zeppelin then you will greatly appreciate watching this masterpiece.

Mmm...Led Zeppelin.

Summary: A Great DVD That Is Full Of Unseen And Seen Material
Review: THE LED ZEPPELIN DVD is a good 2-disc DVD set. The sound and picture is amazing. I'm amazed cause this stuff was evendentally in the vaults. I'm kind of disapointed cause some of the stuff on the DVD I have seen before, like for example the promo for "Communication Breakdown" on VH1 Classic but other than that the DVD is great. I think they should re-release "The Song Remains The Same" with the footage that is on this DVD. I think Moby Dick is the greatest drum solo ever. I enjoyed there covers of "C'mon Everybody" and "Something Else". I think the verison of Kashmir they did at Knebworth was fantastic and probley the best. I'm intrested to see more from the Knebworth show. I think they should release a box set full of full shows. If you have this then buy the CD.
