Summary: TP Special Edition SO SPECIAL that it has NO PILOT!
Review: Apparently, that's the big bonus feature - lack of pilot!! OK, they might release all television series' in box sets of seasons. HOWEVER, they always INCLUDE the pilot in the 1st season box set!! The Twin Peaks "Special Edition" 1st Season just seems like an evil corporate money-making scheme to get consumers to buy this DVD, the 2nd season DVD (whenever it's released) AND a SEPARATE pilot DVD. It makes me sick. If David Lynch had anything to do with this, I hate to say it, shame on him!!! I think it's better to wait this one out. Eventually, they will probably come out with a DVD box set of BOTH seasons + the PILOT all in one complete box set. Then, it REALLY WILL BE A SPECIAL EDITION (and worth the money). The waiting's the hardest part...ugh... :(

Summary: A piece of television history
Review: Twin Peaks captures many of the motifs David Lynch uses in his films, and with time to create and develop beautiful characters. For those who remember the original release, the series spurred enough attention that everyone asked "Who killed Laura Palmer?" With this release to DVD, the quality and extras should leave one busy for a long time. I highly recommend starting with the DVDs if you haven't seen the series, and if you can find the pilot for rent, watch the pilot before the DVDs. The acting, character, and story development is superb in building worlds for us to visit. On a sad note: the series was cancelled after third season, but as an audience, we do learn "who killed Laura Palmer." On another note, for all of those upset that the pilot is not included on DVD, there is a reason. The pilot is owned by a different company (names withheld) than the one releasing the episodes. Please complain to the company who owns the pilot. Urge tham to release it on DVD, if you want. Even though it's not included, I applaud the latter company's release of the episodes and the lengths gone to include extras (hard to find on some DVDs). Why wait? Nevertheless, the series is amazing!

Summary: Be Patient
Review: As a major David Lynch fan, I must say that I am quite pleased with the upcoming release of this boxed set. To put everyone's mind at ease regarding the pilot, I say, "Please be patient." Artisan simply doesn't have the rights to the pilot, only the episodes themselves. However, I'm very sure that whoever has the rights to the pilot (I think it's Warner Bros.) will release the pilot as soon as they see how well the season one boxed sets are doing. They wouldn't release the pilot now in the uncertainty of how well they will sell(Even though they will). They will release it soon after the figures are in regarding sales. So have faith and be patient. Your pilot will be released.

Summary: Simple nonsence without the pilot !
Review: I was first very happy to see whats, in my opinion, is one of the
greatest TV - series in history, beside the X-files and Millennium. Yet why i m giving it a rating of only one star you
would ask ? Because its released by horrendous stupid and ignorant people, whoever they are, are not intelligent enough,
that the whole Twin Peaks series makes absolutely no sense
without the Pilot !!!!!!!!
How do you except to sell this to people who havent seen the series, when they get only the half plot for their money !!
I hope the releasing company will see their error, and releases
the pilot immidiately, otherwise they can keep their DVD.
All in all, Twin Peaks is one of the greatest TV-series ever made,
with the Pilot, the Collection would have get 5 STARS from me !

Summary: There's always music in the air.
Review: This set rocks. The picture is so beautiful, and the dolby surround is excellent. (the DTS track is good too, but i can't tell the difference except that the DTS is louder)

if you're a fan of the show, or of david lynch, you have to have this set. note: if you're seeing it for the first time, you should get the pilot episode too. i'd get it from ebay. they have lots of copies of the import dvd for cheap.

i hope season two comes soon, and is as great as this set is. i'm looking forward to seeing the final episode with such vivid colors.

Summary: DIE HARD TWIN PEAKS FAN - Come on!
Review: To echo the sentiments of my fellow reviewers, I gotta say its a complete DISCRACE to release this first part WITHOUT the pilot... In saying that, the series is simply steller! If indeed it is the case that David Lynch himslef has some control over releasing the series in this format, minus the pilot - I would have to say - "...SELLOUT..." I'll be buying this edition, but with a large degree of distaste! ...

Summary: Where's the pilot?
Review: Twin Peaks is a great series that I could watch over and over. But without the pilot episode, the story makes no sense. I hope the producers realize this and release the pilot on DVD too.

Summary: they release all television series' in box sets of season's
Review: they release all television series' in box sets of season's. they wouldn't release both season's in one box; the second season will most likely be available next year (if the first sells well). so buy this set, then buy the second season, then buy the pilot... it's just like any television series (i.e. the sopranos). season box sets. besides, this is the best television series known to mankind.

Summary: About the pilot
Review: Yes, it's a shame this set is being released sans pilot episode. We can thank the suits at various production companies and studios for that.

However, due to a technical loophole, the original, as aired in the US pilot episode, was released in Hong Kong as a region 0 DVD (which means it'll play on anybody's DVD player). It's got a 5.1 dolby digital track (I know some will complain about the lack of a DTS soundtrack) which can be annoying at times. Agent Cooper in particular sounds disconcertingly chipmunk-like. But the transfer is pretty decent, and until the suits can get off their collective butts and do something about rights to the pilot in the US it's better than nothing....

Various overseas DVD outlets on the net undoubtedly have it for sale as well....

As for the DVD set, I'm looking forward to it. My tapes are nearly worn out, and I hope Artisan is planning to release the second season as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the show in pristine form again.

Summary: Finally
Review: I do think the pilot should be included, but it came down to who has the rights to it. I bought the pilot off of ebay. Still, this box set is well worth the money.
