Summary: One two, Freddy's gonna get you
Review: This is a must for true horror genre collectors. Here are all of the Freddy movies in one big box set. I was very happy with the video quality, which has very few flaws considering the age of the films themselves. The sound quality in DD5.1 is outstanding, and really adds to the enjoyment of the series.

I only have two minor things to point out about the set, which I believe have been mentioned in other reviews:
First, all of the DVDs come in those horrid snap cases, and not the more commonly used (and nicer) DVD keep cases. Snap cases are to easy to get finger prints on and more susceptable to damage. This is only a slight irritation.
Second, the 3D sequence in the 6th movie is not very good. Some of the scenes are OK, but a couple of them make your eyes go bonkers with double vision. The DVD does, however, allow you to watch it in regular 2D which is a nice feature.

The set is a bit pricey, but worth it if you are a fan of these movies. I don't think that I really need to rate the entertainment value of each movie, since everyone has a different opinion about each of them. Even the least favorite installments in this series still have their entertainment value though, and its great to be able to watch the whole thing in order from start to finish.

Summary: This DVD collection kills!
Review: One of the best series of Horror movies are all together in one little box, all remasted and no famous rental "fuzziness"! Freddy Krueger is a revolutionist in the Horror genre. The first two were "horror" movies, but the rest that followed became "black comedies". Which is okay because it's Freddy Krueger because he can get away with it. You won't see Jason doing some comedy... wait. He did do Friday the 13th Part 8... nevermind. If you're a fan of Horror movies, then you must own this DVD box set.

Summary: A must have collection
Review: this is the second greatest horror series of all time (the first being Halloween). heres the rundown

#1: Amazing. 5 stars. so original and entertaining. Freddy at his scariest.

#2:I like this one. A lot of people hate it because it has nothing to do with the series and its so different from the rest, but I'd say this is my favorite one. 5 stars.

#3:Another great one. In this one, I think Freddy is the best, hes funny and scary, but not just rattling off oneliners like in 5. 4 stars.

#4:Not bad. This is the one where Freddy goes funny instead of scary. Still, if you like gore, you'll like this one. 3 1/2 stars.

#5:This is the worst one. Its not that bad, but its not that good either. An odd plot and a weird religious theme. 2 stars.

#6:I like this one a lot. It has nothing to do w/ the 1,3,4,5 story line. I thought the thing w/ the main character and Freddy was corny. But good action. 5 stars.

#7:Weird. This is just strange. A good idea, but too long. 3 stars.

Summary: Best....Colection....Ever
Review: This is THE best collection for the NOES movies. [Heck], it's the best collection of any movies. The digital quality is awesome, as with any DVD. And the Bonus Disk is awesome too. But NOES2 should just be completely forgotten in the bad horror movies land. It stunk. but anyway, I am like, the biggest Freddy Fan, so email me if you just want to talk about the series.

Summary: The Entire Series!!! But.....
Review: I love these films. I first was introduced to A Nightmare on Elm street when I was in second grade, and since then I couldn't get enough. I just bought the set today. It's filled with many extras. There was one minor dissapointment though. A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, is not quite complete. I'm not sure if many people are aware that there is actually a Not Rated version of this film. I was fortunate enough to purchase that edition during a video store close out. Don't get me wrong, the film doesn't suffer from the missing stuff. I was surprised though that the DVD release didn't honor that edition. Otherwise EXCELLENT!!!

Summary: Awesome Movies On Awesome DVDs!
Review: The Nightmare On Elm Street Collection is a terrific boxed set of wonderful classics. New Line Cinema is da' bomb when it comes to releasing DVDs. Instead of giving you description of the plots, I'm going to go into extreme detail to talk about this awesome collection, its technical features, special features, extras. Here goes!

First off, each film is presented beautifully on these great disks. Every movie is properly formatted to have a 1:85:1 widescreen anamorphic format. Believe me, you're going to get blown away by how superior these disks are to the videos and other disks. None (NONE!) of the films have any scratches or pops. I sat watching the original, 17 year old film with my mouth hanging open at the gorgeous prints. The colors are bright when they need to be, and flawless darkness when that's required. There is almost no grime whatsoever in the dark scenes (the chilling sequence in Part 3 with Freddy's mom talking of Freddy's conception looks wonderful!) and you might question how old these really are.

Extra features are great. On Nightmare 1 you've got a fascinating commentary by the director of photography, actors Heather Langenkamp and John Saxon, as well as director Wes Craven. This is the same commentary used on the Elite Laserdisk, but who cares? If this wasn't there, everyone would start complaining (see how mad people are about the Halloween DVD). Other features include cast and crew biographies. You've also got this "Jump To A Nightmare" scene navigation. What this does is jump right to a dream scene, and when it's over, it takes you back to the menu. I've only used this once, but it's a cool addition to spice stuff up. On Wes Craven's New Nightmare, you get a very well done commentary from director Wes Craven, who helps point out a ton of the details you may have missed in the movie. For Freddy's Dead The Final Nightmare, you get two (well, I only got one) pairs of 3-D glasses for the conclusion. It doesn't look fantastic, but I enjoy watching the ending the way it was originally seen. So, there aren't that many extra features on these movie disks, so where are all these awesome extra features? Why, they're in the eight disk, The Nightmare Series Encyclopedia, of course. This is the core, the heart of the whole set. First off, you've got the documentary, "Welcome To Primetime". In it, you see interviews with Wes Craven, producer Robert Shaye, actors Heather Langenkamp and Robert Englund, co-producer Sara Risher, assistant director Rachel Talalay (who would move into the directing chair for Part 6), as well as several other members of the cast and crew. "Welcome To Primetime" is a highley informative documentary that goes from the conception of Nightmare On Elm Street on the page, to how it made it to film. After this terrific documentary, you've got he "Labyrinth", an extremely challenging game where you go around an abandoned school searching out clues, answering questions, and avoiding Freddy, so that you can find all sorts of cool things. There's an alternate ending for Nightmare 1 (go to the fire door and type in 20) as well as music videos, Freddy's appearance on MTV, interviews with several Freddy fans, Wes Craven, Robert Englund.... oh, the list is endless. You get a glimse behind the scenes and you can watch Robert rehearsing for certain scenes. Terrific stuff! Next, you've got the index, which has behind the scenes footage from all seven films, as well as interviews with such famous directors as Clive Barker and Sean S. Cunningham (Friday The 13th). There are comparisions of Freddy and Pinhead... lots of cool things. You've also got all seven theatrical trailers (Nightmares 3 and 5 are teasers) and another alternate ending for Nightmare 1. The interviews are extremely interesting, and the people being interviwed are quite honest! Rachel Talalay thinks Nightmares 4 and 5 were weak entries, and Robert Shaye admits that they were stretching the series to far. You also have the awesome Dokken music video "Dream Warriors", which is just great. You also have a "Whodini" music video and one from "Fat Boys". You'll learn how Wes Craven got the inspriration for Freddy and how part of these movies are true! Truly, a set of the most informative behind the scenes footage ever gathered together!

The sound on each film is simply stunning. First, you've got the mono versions for the first three, and the stereo versions for the last four, but then, for all of them, you've got 5.1 surround! The 5.1 surround adds so much to the expeirence and you'll feel just as thrilled as when you first saw the movies! Some music you couldn't even hear on viseo, or in mono or stereo, you can finally hear! A fantastic job has gone into the re-mixing of these films. Breathtaking. I totally admire the work done hear by New Line, kudos!

Also included in the box is a commemoritive booklet about the Freddy phonomenon, and featuring and introduction by Robert Shaye, and one by Robert Englund. They also feature pictures, and the good reviews each film has gotton. You can also learn some interesting Freddy facts.

So, all in all, even if the completely outstanding, breathaking, interesting, informative, eight disk weren't in here, I'd still give it five stars. It's just the concept of having every Freddy classic on DVD in this fine picture and sound quality. The only very small problem is the fact that Nightmare 5 is Rated R, while they could have easily used the Unrated version. Although that version is pretty much the same, I just thought they'd use the defenitive version, but still, the overall set is so good that you won't beleive it! Buy it. Buy it now, because you know that you want it! And you know what? It's worth it!

If you found my review helpful, please vote for me. Thanks a lot!
