Review: The 1st 3 elm st movies in the series captured horror,suspence and even story.The movies progressed across the late 80s and into early 90s teritory we saw a some what "comical freedy kruger",who everyone appears to know today unlike the true boggyman who Robert Englund keeped doing over and over again.("wouldn't you get a saw back?")........ Anyway, as these most "unessasary sequals" where being constantly developed the frandchiser started to wear thin. "A nightmare on elm st really became a nightmare to fans!!" The comic book idea took over films 4,5 and 6.The low budget TV series came into the picture in 1992 ("or did you forget?") Never the less "they?" than pulled the plug in 94'after making there new nightmare (ANOEst 7)......
"INTO THERE WORST ONE!!" hmm disapointing indeed.. Horror flicks of today will never capture the true esence of "A Good Horror Film"... "THESE DAYS PEOPLE TRY AND TAKE A MOVIE LIKE "HALLOWEEN" OR "FRIDAY THE 23rd" (lol) WACK ON AN "X" OR A "HOMECOMING"
AND HAY PRESTO WE HAVE POPCORN...

Review: I love the "Nightmare on Elm Street" series! The scariest, gruesomest one of them all was the original w/Johnny Depp. Freddy Krueger is out for more and even MORE victims in this B-rated horror series. Robert Englund is without question, a good actor. Englund's role as the psychotic monster is a very good one. My fav NOES(Nightmare on Elm Street) film is part 4: "The Dream Master"! BTW, I heard about an upcoming movie called "Jason Vs. Freddy", but I'm not sure if its actually in production. I hope so, because Englund is one of the best actors in HOLLYWOOD ! Lets all hope that someday it may exist!

Review: I agree with the 12 years old reviewer below. cause I am also a fan of Hammer horror classical films in the 50's and 60's and included of course the mario brava films, they have alots of literature significance. But these Nightmare/ FREDDY Series mean nothing to get the value of the classic horror literature like what the Hammer british horror films or Brava films had done in the past 40 years. These modern Hollywood horror series only showing the violences, ignorances and the brutes without having any interrest in the significance of classical qualified literature like perhaps Boris Karrloff, bela lugosi or Vincent price ever did in the post war period in the 40's.

Review: this film had been always played more than 16 times in each months, you can watch them on TV in europe.
The story symbolized the cruels and sadism of the teenager murder like Freddy Krueger but the literature significance is nothing to be found in this story.

Review: Absolutely everything you ever wanted (or needed) to know about the Elm Street series. This set is truly a gift for the folks who grew up in the eighties enjoying the exploits of Freddy Krueger. This collection touches on everything and more! So much info that it almost gets embarrassing at times! The extras dvd is worth the price alone! Hours of entertainment here.

Review: There are the big bad three in modern horror. I'm talking about Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, and then there is the one and only Freddy Krueger. There had never been a character quite like him before or a series of films like it before. Horror master turned the horror genre on it's head when he reinvented the genre with his classic 1984 screamer, "A Nightmare On Elm Street". The movie was brilliantly scary, clever, gory, and was one of the most influential films in horror history. All of those things that made the original what it is was sorta lost on subsequent sequels, until Part "New Nightmare" in 1994. Even the other sequels had great direction and make-up and effects. The casts were always above average for a horror film. Nightmare 2 really went a few rungs down the ladder from the original. It did delve more into Freddy's history a little bit, but managed to do little else. Mark Patton as the terrorized kid did a good job of going nuts tho. Too bad Craven didn't do this. Nightmare 3 really got things back on track. Heather Langenkamp and John Saxon return from the original for this stylish, clever, slick film that's a real crowd pleaser. Nightmare 4 was the beginning of a different Freddy. He became more in the light and fired off the one liners right and left. I liked Part 4, but a lot of people didn't. Nightmare 5 was pretty bland. Like 2, it went into more of Freddy's history. That's always a plus. It was still well directed and very stylish, but pretty bland. Freddy's role could've been considered a cameo. "Freddy's Dead" was an interesting idea. It had the most insight in Freddy's life. The best history shown in a Freddy movie. The movie was pretty mediocre, but above most sequels. You gotta give the filmmamers credit. Lastly, we come to "Wes Craven's New Nightmare". Craven returns 10 years later to the thing he created and got it back on track. This film is incredibly intelligent, very clever, and as slick and polished as a good thriller can be. Craven and company brought Freddy back in an ingenious way. The sets and art direction were fantastic. What a triumph!. The heart of these movies is actor Robert Englund. He has joined Lugosi, Karloff, Chaney, Cushing, and Lee in the 'horror icon' category. He is a fantastic actor with great presence and incredible charisma. The extra features here are all good. Even "Freddy's Dead" is shown with the 3-D ending with 3-D glasses!. It also comes with a commemorative book. There is an extra DVD here that includes a whole bunch of goodies. Interviews with casts and directors, trailers, music videos, trivia, screenplays, and some more!. This is the total package people!. If you need the Elm Street adventures in your collection, this is the essential piece you need. And after watching these, remember this - Whatever you do, don't....fall....asleep....

Summary: Nightmare 2 and 5 suffer; it matters little
Review: Rarely has a film series garnered more attention in such a short period of time than the "Nightmare on Elm Street" films garnered in the 1980s. Something about the Freddy Krueger character just clicked with teenage audiences - he was very different from Jason and Michael Myers in that he had a personality, and was able to make audiences identify with him despite the fact that he is a burn victim child molester. A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET - A fantastic film. Very innovative, especially for the early '80s. This film can still get it done during 11 o'clock showings. *****
A NIGHTAMRE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE - The worst of the series. A concept that had nothing to do with the first film, and Mark Patten ranks effectively as the worst hero of the series. **
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS - The best of the series. Awesome script, superior acting (for a horror film, anyway) and some downright amazing special effects. Introduced the humor element to the series. *****
A NIGHTAMRE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER - The most successful entry of the series, it remains one of the better ANOES films. Freddy truly emerges here as the anti-hero of the series - people flocked in in droves, as usual. ****
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 5: THE DREAM CHILD - Weak fifth entry promises a scary story, but only delivers at an efficient eye candy show. Poor concept (Freddy's baby - very Mia Farrow).

FREDDY'S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE - This is known as the end of the "formal" series. Freddy's death may be a bit ineffective and undercinematic, but the rest of the film contains the best humor of the series. ****

Summary: Best Horror Series Ever
Review: How many people can really say they have never seen Freddy in their lifetime? Very few I believe. These films, which only got better each time, are some of the very true horror/slasher flicks that have ever been made. You have the unstoppable villian in each, one that is not so far unbelieveable, and can kill like few others. This is an excellent box set of dvd's and each film has been cleaned up and looks exceptional. A must have for any DVD collection.
