Review: Well, i can certaintly say that for a thriller fan, this is an interesting series! Although, generally i don't like too much blood in a thriller, in this one it is unavoidable! The plot and of course the director are the ones that make it nice to watch! The concept is different than others that offer so much blood, and this is good! If your guts are strong enough you can enjoy it! If not, better don't watch it! I would basically recommend it to a thriller collector as it is quite different and interesting than others!
The first movie is great. since it is the inauguration of the whole concept...
The second and the third are ok, the fourth one sucks as well as fifth...Everything becomes so fake and extreme, and then i would say that the new nightmare is a nice ending to the whole story...Generally, it depends on the viewer whether or not he will find it worth spending money on or not...

Review: "The first word in terror from the creator of Scream." This collection is awesome, it`s complete all 7 installments of the Nightmare franchise! 3-Amazing films, and 4 others which aren`t to pleasing. But still, great! Buy it now, and you won`t at all be dissapointed.

Review: Grimy hands, worktools, an old rag torn to shreds, a girl in a nightdress and.....a bleating lamb??? Cue an audience in 1984 going berserk. Welcome Freddy Krueger, we've been expecting you.
Anyway you cut (or gut it if you prefer), A Nightmare on Elm Street is one of the most influential horror movies ever made. Wes Craven's nasty little shocker about evil personified weaves under the skin in an altogether far too realistic way, a feeling that is not entirely unpleasant. Eighties horror was basically piggy backed by the gleeful demon in the red and green sweater, look away Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees, back in the closet Chucky, stay in the shed Leatherface, sorry your trip from hell was wasted Pinhead. You guys are cool but you're simply not imaginative enough. Freddy would be ashamed of his stumbling slow witted contemporaries. Of course the original is by far and away the most impressive installment in the series, but what of the others? Freddy's Revenge suffered simply due to the fact that the film makers didn't have a clue where to take Freddy yet, lay responsibility in that Wes Craven was no longer involved, and therefore broke every rule estabilished in the previous film. It's only saving grace is the highly under rated performance by the startling Mark Patton. The Dream Warriors is quite simply stunning, the deaths are inventive, the characterisation and performances strong throughout and Freddy finally stepped from the shadows, eliciting screams and laughter in equal measure, a tradition picked up and embraced by the visually impressive Dream Master. The less said about The Dream Child the better, turning Freddy into a slapstick cartoon character, thereby destroying his menace and foreboding presence onscreen. And I swear to god, if I ever meet Rachael Talalay (director of the puerile Freddy's Dead), she'll truly understand what it's like to meet Freddy's glove. Ahem, sorry about that, just upsets me is all how someone so closely involved with the series from the get go can make such a Comedy Central impression of a Nightmare film. Craven came back to put the wrong things right in New Nightmare which he succeeded in doing with a cleverly scripted 'real life' drama, displaying once again his versatility, and rounding off the boxset in style. All in all, a wicked and (for the most part) enjoyable little jog around Elm Street is on offer for anyone wanting to check out the right way to off a teenager. One last thing of note, as Jason Vs Freddy nears production, please remember that Freddy is a disgusting and perverted child abuser and that is what makes him such a truly terrifying creation. Bring him back to something approaching his demeanor from Nightmare One rather than rehash his ill advised James Bond bad guy suave previous incarnations.

Review: Telling all the horror lovers in the world that they should own this is a HUGE understatement. If you don't own this already, please, by all means, GO BUY IT!!! You will not be disappointed!! I mean, what more could you ask for? You've got all seven very popular Nightmare On Elm Street sequels in ONE BOX SET! You couldn't possibly go wrong!! Plus the extra DVD, the Nighmare Encyclopedia is fantastic. Being a huge fan of horror, you could say that i was really excited when i purchased this because i definately got my money's worth...and you will too!

Summary: Campy horror at it's best! A terrific DVD set.
Review: The "Nightmare on Elm Street" series was, in my opinion, the only one that justified the number of sequels it had. It is also the most entertaining, original, and frightening of all the 80's "slasher" films. They may be a campy as a row of tents, but they are still among my favorite guilty pleasures. The first three movies are without a doubt the best, with part 4 being okay, and part 5 being awful. "Freddy's Dead" capped off the series nicely, while "New Nightmare" found a brilliant way of making another movie as a self-parody, rather than a cookie-cutting of the older movies. Many don't consider it to be part of the series, but it defintely is in my opinion. I will always pick Freddy over Jason or Michael Myers for his devious sense of humor. Who can forget the classic line "You've got the body, and I've <peeling back scalp> got the brains". Great line. Collectors can enjoy a whopping 8 DVDs of Nightmare material, including all 7 films and a bonus DVD filled with behind-the-scenes extras, interviews, and other goodies. I enjoyed the book, but the extra DVD is a real bonus. It made the DVD set more enticing, considering the price tag. Unlike the Friday the 13th or Halloween movies, which specialized in cookie-cutter sequels and little to no variation, the Nightmare series is the one that is worth owning on DVD. The originality, the chills, and the fun make the series stand out from all the other campy 80's horror series. I can join the rest of the horror movie fans in saying "They don't make em like this anymore".

Review: This was a great set. I got it for Christmas and I still love it. All of these movies are very fun to watch and the bonus disc is awesome. If you love this series, then this set will be worth your money.

Summary: The best box set out there!
Review: Ok, you've seen the movies before. You know about them, they are all great horror, scary with creative killings and some comedy. The picture and sound is all great. Now, on to business.
The 8th disc, The Nightmare Encyclopedia has 93 videos and 3 still galleries on it. It is broken into 3 parts: Primetime, The Labyrinth and Index. In the index you are can view special features and don't have to look at them in the labyrinth. Primetime is a collection of the special features mostly. The Labyrinth is a maze type game where you must search for special features that are both in the index, and also not in the index. All in all there is 3.5 hours of special features on this disc. Now, the maze is somewhat tricky, but don't listen to the hype that it is the hardest thing in the world. I did it myself in one short sitting. It was made so everyone could see the features, you just had to work for them a bit. It isn't as hard as everyone said. Basically it is just an innovative way to get your special features rather than the normal more boring way. If you have trouble with this, maps of the labyrinth are available online and so is info and directions.
There are cool things within the labyrinth as well that aren't special features but may as well be (ie: pictures of things on the walls).
The booklet that comes with this is info and pics based on the kits theatres were given when the movie came out. Everything about this box set is great and truly sets the standards for box sets to come in the future.

Review: Oh, the Nightmare on Elm Street New Line Platinum Series box set. What a set. It includes so much. First off, they're in widescreen. All of them are 1.85:1. They all have really good transfers, and the new 5.1 isn't that bad on the discs. To me, Nightmare 2 looked perfect compared to the old tape I watched it on. The only extra features on the film discs are the "Jump to a Nightmare" feature, biographies and filmographies, and commentary on Nightmare 1 and 7. The commentaries weren't really fun to listen to. Here's my rating for the films:
Nightmare 1: ***. It was dark, scary, and really original. Freddy isn't really revealed. It only had about 1 joke in the whole movie, but that was a good thing. It has a really dark tone.
Nightmare 2: **. The worst. They used a little more humor, but it didn't have enough Freddy. Well, I've seen worse.
Nightmare 3: ***. This one started the whole Freddy being funny trend. The film was awesome. Roger Ebert only gave it *1/2. I don't know why. I like Roger Ebert, but I don't agree with him on half of his reviews.
Nightmare 4: **1/2. This film used so much humor, but it still has a nice atmosphere.
Nightmare 5: **1/2. This one was the coolest visually. There was only 3 kills, and they tried to be serious. It's still good.
Freddy's Dead: ***. This is a classic. A lot of people hate it. I love this movie. It could be my favorite. Who cares if Freddy's completely revealed and he is given plenty of one-liners? This is the funniest. It's one of my favorite horror-comedies. It's the most entertaining, and it can be viewed several times. It's really short too. It's only about 89 minutes. Don't listen to the back of the DVD case; it's not 96. Almost no blood or gore, and that just makes this movie better.
New Nightmare: ***. This film is creepy, well written, and excellent. Too long, though. You can only watch this a few times total.
Overall, a great set. I wish there could've been deleted scenes, but it really isn't too big of a deal. 4-6 didn't have too much violence, and that was a good thing. Buy this. Freddy is the coolest, and the best of the 3 main horror movie series characters.

Review: This is the best of a Nightmare on Elm Street series. It includes all seven movies with an extras disc and a booklet about all of the movies and even the 3D glass for Freddy's Dead. This collection starts out with the best on the first Nightmare and the Digital reamstering looks fantastic! The first nightmare on Elm Street, released on the 16th of November 1984, truly scared me to death. The Second Nightmare, released on the 1st of November 1985, was truly the worst one because it wasn't even scary and it really didn't follow the storyline that would come into play in the 3rd one. The 3rd nightmare On Elm Street, released on the 27th of February 1987, was the best sequel to the original because it involved Nancy Thompson again and followed the story from the first one trying to kill all the elm street children. The 4th one, released on the 19th of August 1988, was a little more worse in a sense that it still followed the story but they were trying to make Alice the next Nancy and it just didn't work and besides they killed off Kristen who was the last Elm street kid which should have ended the movie right there. The 5th and 6th, released in 1989 and 1991, Nightmare's weren't that good because you can tell they were just making it for money and the storyline was becoming old. The 7th one called "New Nightmare", released on the 14th of October 1994, was OK but they focused to much on the kid instead of focusing it on Heather who was the original star. All in all I think this is a marvelous collection for the "Nightmare" fans but if you only want certain ones then I suggest buy them separately.
