Summary: Really Great Amunition for all Loverboys
Review: This is the perfect DVD to have in your secret weapons arsenal when you get the really hottie chickies into the loveden. They all love sex and the city on HBO, but noneof them knew about it way back in the beginning, so you can be like, "Have you seen the first season episodes?" and they'll be like, "No! But I want to!" So then you get them all excited to see these funny sexy little stories, and if the wine flows and you have nice cologne, it's a sure thing to be able to segue into a full-throttle night with the "New Sex Now" video sex-mastery techniques. This is what I save for te really hot girls, but with the others I'll use "Sexual Intrigue" or even the Mimi Rogers "Full Body Massage" movies.

Summary: It's to die for!
Review: Samantha. Carrie. Miranda. Charlette. Four names that television history will never forget. This show embraced the beauty of being single, living large, enjoying sex, and doing it all with a killer attitude to match that killer Prada mini-skirt.

Though some have argued that Sex and the City didn't really pick up until later on in the show, it is still sublimely brilliant, even in this first season. Every word of the show is poisonously funny and oddly very melodramatic. Carrie pours her heart, and the hearts of her friends, into her column titled "Sex and the City." In it, she discusses the faulty and/or nonexistance of romance in modern society. The show is sort of sad in a way, reminding us all of the pain of being single. But it's such a joyous work of entertainment that there's no reason to waste your time shedding tears for it.

When you watch Ms. Bradshaw and her friends (the INFAMOUS Samantha as played exquisitely by Kim Catrall included), you will be positively mezmerised, praying that each episode could last a little bit longer. I would be shocked if you too aren't rapturously swept away in the complicated and delightful plotline.

Summary: WOW! It's like reliving my singlehood!
Review: I don't have cable. Everytime I travel, cable seems like a vast wasteland of reruns & infomercials. So I've been waiting, until Dec 2003, for Sex & the City (SATC) and The Sopranos DVDs to come down in price to see what the buzz is all about.

Well, the very first episode of SATC got me hooked! How Carrie deals with her "toxic bachelor," well, years ago I heard that a co-worker did the same thing! Most of the subsequent episodes had some vignette or catchphrase that evoked another memory of being single and running wild with friends in Hawai'i, of all places! And their conversations over meals, well, I'm still having chats like that with friends today!

The Baby Shower episode was especially poignant, about losing one's identity in marriage and motherhood, and the tension between singles and marrieds. Most of us succumbed to the pressure to marry, though none of us actually had any children! To paraphrase Joseph Campbell, once you've reproduced, and replaced yourself in the world, then you're as good as dead.

Then, there's the City, which is like another character. Many scenes take place at 81st & 5th, at the northern end of the Met, right across the street from where I went to grade school! I used to watch the pigeons on the roof of the Met during 4th grade French class! Even Carrie's Baby Shower reverie in the playground is on that corner. And a block away, The Stanhope, favored by JFK Jr. when he needed a break from Carolyn, is featured in all its luxe!

It's smart, it's witty, it's funny, and it feels so real - I'm sorry I waited so long to buy Season 1. But there's a lot to be said for delayed gratification! Do I wait for Season 2 to go on sale or do I splurge now and indulge in instant gratification?

Summary: The Perfect Gift
Review: Guys, if you are looking for the perfect holiday gift for your lady, this should be at the top of your list. My wife loves this series, it is cleverly written and even tolerable for the average man. Personally, I like the series (as it beats watching Days of Our Lives) and find the writing insightful as a man trying to understand women. Definitely a must! The characters are well acted, fun to look at and the storylines are very realistic. I think of it as a woman's version of Seinfield, but this one actually has a story line.

Summary: SEX in the city... how did I miss it???
Review: If you're like me and came onto this phenomenon late, then this is a must see! I was late getting to this pearl of a show, but man, I rented the earlier seasons asap and enjoyed every single second!!! This is hysterical, heart-warming, thought-provoking and entertaining all at once. Racy? ... yes. So, if that bothers you, stay away. because these girls aren't going to apologize for their saucy behavior to anyone. But, if you canget past that, this sure is a good show.

Summary: Sarah Jessica Parker looks absolutely like a drag queen!
Review: She always looks like a guy to me. I mean it! I don't know how can anyone find her attractive. Is it just because she is the one who tells the story? Anyway, the other three girls are cute and lovely. This might be the best season to buy.

Summary: Better than I expected
Review: I'm one of the few remaining folks without HBO, so I am only just now seeing this show on DVD. Based on all the criticism that I'd heard about the series, I expected that these women would little more than trendchasers who sleep with every man they meet. While there is a fair amount of casual sex and high fashion in each episode, the show does have more depth than that. This is the story of four women supporting each other through life's pitfalls. Because this is television, the writers had to make it interesting or no one would watch, so there are many unrealistic situations. And while I am sure that some people really do live like this, I'd be willing to bet that they're not happy about it.

This is adult entertainment, and yes most grown people have sex. We mght not all be having kinky sex and certainly not as much as these girls, but some people are such prudes that anything even remotely sexual is going to ruffle their feathers.

These characters are consumed with getting older and trying to find relationships. Even the promiscous Samantha really does want to settle down with one man, but since she's been burned a few times she's pretending that empty sex is enough for her when the truth is that she resorts to that because that's all she can get.

These women are not supposed to be role models and their behavior surely isn't anything that a normal person would want to imitate. I actually feel sorry for them in most episodes because they are truly miserable. Carrie loves a man who won't commit to her. Charlotte believes in fairy tales and happily-ever after. Miranda is jaded and harsh. And Samantha is oversexed and shallow.

Nonetheless, I enjoy the show because it's funny and well-written. I too am single and in my 30's in an urban area, so I can appreciate a lot of what these women are going through. But I'm not about to start sleeping around and maxing out my credit card on couture shoes just because I see some fictional characters doing it on television. It's just entertainment.

Summary: Kinda Dirty
Review: Friends raved so about this show, so I finally borrowed the season 1 DVD. To be honest, I didn't find it as funny as I expected, and much raunchier than I expected. I should've known by the title, but I was shocked by the potty language and the non-stop sex. The behind-the-scenes interviews were interesting, but I found it incredible that they think this show is representative of real women -- not me or the women I know! Still, I enjoyed the funny parts and the close friendship among the women and kept watching to see if the women would get more realistic.

Be warned: It's definitely R rated and not to be watched with young ones around!

Summary: Good Series for Men & Women
Review: This is one of my favorite shows. Although I don't get HBO I started the Second Season. I didn't know what was going on, I agree with another reviewer I was glued to the screen. I then saw the Third Season it is dramatic on some of the characters but still good humor. Now I liked the first season. I am planning on buying Seasons 1-4 on DVD. I can't wait for Season 5 DVD.

Summary: Big 3XL
Review: Title says what it's about. Never watched this series before. It's really quite entertaining. I enjoy it. Only it's one very narrow minded show.
