Summary: HOW TEBO HAS HELPED ME
Review: HELLO MY NAME IS JAMELIA, I PURCHASED THE TEBO TAPES ABOUT ONE YEAR AGO.I WANTED SOMETHING THAT WAS GOING TO HELP ME TONE UP MY BODY AND LOSE JUST A LITTLE BIT OF WEIGHT, AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT TEBO HAS CERTAINLY DONE THE JOB FOR ME. I ESPECIALLY LIKE THE ENERGY THAT IS GIVEN OFF IN ALL FOUR OF THE TAPES, AND THAT ENERGY IS WHAT KEEPS ME GOING AND WANTING TO DO MORE AND MORE. I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU BILLY AND THANK YOU TEBO.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Awesome!
Review: The Tae-Bo workouts are wonderful. To the reviewer who complained: "to get your tummy toned, YOU have to flex your stomach muscles while you do all the other moves. There are no specific moves for that." I say, you aren't doing it right! Many of the "moves" strengthen abdominals along with lots of other muscles you might have forgotten you have! It's a great way to get a hard workout without jumping around in an aerobics class. The music isn't all that bad. I really don't notice anything but the burn!

Summary: Great for losing shape without boring exercises!
Review: I really want to be in shape so I can bike and ski when the weather is good, but I really hate just doing push-ups and sit-ups. It seems so meaningless ... but I know it has to be done so when I do real activities my body is ready for it.

That's why these DVDs are so incredibly great. They have the training section, the intro section, the advanced section, even the quick-and-easy section, and you can jump to whichever one you want with the touch of a button.

Once you're there, the exercises are really interesting and draw you in. This isn't just doing 8000 sit-ups in a row ... there are different moves, things to keep you interested and having fun. It's definitely something that different ages or sexes can do together - there's something for everyone. It's not "girly" and it's not "macho".

I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to stay in shape. This isn't a "miracle cure" - you can't sit on a couch and watch it while eating ice cream, expecting it to change your life. However, if you use this as part of a healthy lifestyle, you'll be impressed with the results.

Summary: Not all it's cracked up to be
Review: If you are not a person to be easily motivated to work out, then don't expect this to be a miracle cure. The only way this workout will work for you is if you have the motivation to spend hours learning all the moves first, then actually doing the workouts once you got this far. Another thing: it is a good workout if you can follow all the instructions. For example to get your tummy toned, YOU have to flex your stomach muscles while you do all the other moves. There are no specific moves for that. So to get any kind of result from this workout (like any other workout tape) is lots of self discipline.

Summary: Great workout-but low "variety" factor
Review: Overall, I'd give this tape a "4 stars" for the workout, but a "2 star" for the music and the variety of moves. (I'm an "advanced beginner", so I'm mostly only commenting on the instuctional and beginner workouts) I've taken similar classes at my local gym, and found them to be very similar to this tape, with one exception: THE VARIETY OF MOVES. Now, I'm NOT the most coordinated person on the planet, but even I was disapointed that the beginner workout didn't have more combination moves to try. I watched the advanced workout, which was MUCH better--PLENTY of variety, but is way too fast-paced for me to keep up with just yet. For instance, the beginner tape has the perfect pace, but the sequence of "3 sets of left kicks, 3 sets of right kicks, 3 sets forward kicks (each leg), 3 sets back (each leg) gets a bit stale. There are really only 2 parts that have fun combinations of punches and kicks to try, and they are pretty brief. HOWEVER, in Billy's defense, the workout you get is REALLY good, if you don't mind that it is somewhat monotonous. Maybe it is even intended to be that way, so you can pick up the moves, I don't know. All I know is I can't wait to get to the level where I can try the advanced workout, because it looks MUCH more exciting!

P.S. About the music: I was disappointed to find that you couldn't do "instruction only" on this tape, and use your own music, because, as warned by other reviewers, it is pretty bad! But I was working to hard to notice much, anyway.

Summary: Super Workout!
Review: I agree with all the other editorials, but would like to add a few additional thoughts. As a man, I have been interested in aerobic type videos but I have been uncomfortable with actually doing the workouts. Tae Bo is the first workout videos that I feel very comfortable doing. Since it is based in martial arts, sparring, etc..., I don't feel uncomfortable admitting to my friends that I work out to the video. In fact, both my wife and I do the workouts together. I think these are great attributes to the videos, that men can feel good about doing the workouts and couples can do them together...

Summary: ADDICTED TO TAEBO! AN EXPLOSIVE WORKOUT!!
Review: I bought this 4-pack of Taebo almost 2 years ago - January 1999 and I am still using Taebo today after almost 2 years and 52 pounds ago. I recommend Taebo to everyone I know who is serious about losing weight, getting in shape and being healthy. I only watched the Instructional tape twice but do recommend that people do this several more times than I did. I used the Basic tape for 4-5 months before starting on the Advanced. I like the Basic tape but I think some of the faster moves at the end may be a bit too quick for a Basic tape. Remember to always go at your own pace. The Advanced tape is awesome. The first time I did it (and I paused the tape often) it was very difficult but I put it down for a while and when I picked up it I couldn't believe my increased stamina, endurance and strength. I must admit that I have never done the 8 minute workout. If I'm going to sweat, it is going to be longer that 8 minutes so I really can't recommend it. To the other reviewer who asked for more Taebo tapes -- there are more. Unfortunately, Amazon does not carry them. They are available only through the Taebo website. I have 14 Advanced Taebo tapes (yes, I am addicted) but the Advanced tape in this 4 pack is one of my favorites. The moves are much slower that some of Billy's newer tapes and it helps me focus on what I am doing. Plus, it only gives me a sense of where I started. I won't say the Advanced is easy but I have come a long way and can now do this tape all the way through without pausing the tape and it used to initimate me. Taebo is an amazing workout. It has slimmed and toned every part of my body: abs, thighs, arms, back, chest, calves, butt, etc. Someone recently asked me if I was lifting weights because of the definition in my arms but all my toning is from Taebo. I workout 6 days a week doing the Advanced tape and I've never been in better shape. Even after almost two years, Taebo is still challenging and never boring. If I feel sluggish or tired, all I have to do is an hour of Taebo and I'm refreshed. If your New Years Resolution for 2001 is to lose weight, get in shape or get healthy, please buy these tapes. I wish I discovered Taebo sooner. I have gone from a size 18 to a size 10 and I'm still losing. My life is much better now. I'm more confident and more outgoing. Please realize that working out is not easy. There is NO QUICK FIX to losing weight and being healthy. You have to work at it everyday but Taebo is fun, explosive, challenging and inspirational. Give it a try. It has changed my life and it will change yours too.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: This was such a great idea! Now us men can do aerobics tapes and still feel like men since we are punching and kicking instead of leg lifting and stair stepping! (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!) The basic workout kicked my tail! I still haven't moved on to the advanced. The DVD version is so easy because you have all 4 tapes on one media! Highly recommended!

Summary: Buy it, do it, feel it!
Review: Simply unbelievable, that sums it all up.

I've never tried any aerobic videos before this, and I wasn't to excited about Tae-Bo either, but my Track-Coach introduced it as the new "indoor-workout" if it rains. I do not regret it. The first tapes are probably worth watching, but I started with with the advanced workout, which did involve a slight challenge, the moves were more complicated than I had anticipated. Nevertheless, after having used the tape four times I feel quite comfortable with the movements, and as soon as the warm-up is over you WILL break a sweat. I do. If you want to get pumped up this is the wrong tape for you, but if you want to increase your flexibility and coordination - and get some cardivascular exercise at the same time - BUY it. Billy Blanks is just great as an instructor, his voice will probably haunt me in my dreams as soon as I stop exercising for a week or more... No, seriously, his comments do make me chuckle now and then, probably unintentional, but he will stop you from giving up. Once you have done the floor-exercises you will not forget this tape, believe me. I would not believe it if I hadn't tried it myself, but this tape (I'm referring to the advanced workout) really helps you.

Summary: An Exciting Power Package
Review: Billy Blanks is a serious man with a mission: get people moving to a meshed mix of martial arts and boxing moves, and make them like it. He non-falteringly succeeds. And so do you.

These four tapes provide a progressively heightened exercise program which have caught on like California wildfires. Sure, I saw him with Rosie, Oprah, and other celebs, but what sold me was his direct, non-frenzied, (stop the insanity) non-hokey, (sweatin' to whatever) approach to health. The sheer wills within each of us to accomplish not only our physical goals, but our mental powers as well--is heady stuff.

Additionally, I have diabetes. I keep it under control with diet, exercise, and knowing my enemy very well. Always looking for varied ways to attack my enemy, I was able to stop taking Glucatrol (a diabetic medication) just by doing the instructional and warm-up with Billy 2 times a day. My son, ah to be younger, gets a serious kick from the 8 minute workout. The main point is--this works for us as a family and as individuals.

Now, there are no promises to make you look as good as Mr. Blanks himself or super-model Kate Moss, but celebrate yourself, be the best person you can be. And remember: nothing tastes as good as a healthy body looks. Now, go kick glutimus maximus!
