Summary: DS9--just like Star Trek should be!!
Review: The characters made ds9 good in spite of the poor writing at times. The best episodes of all star trek, and the st movies are set when the story sets up good vs. evil. khan vs. kirk ST"2, Chang vs. Kirk#6 Picard vs. Borg #8 and in the tv series--sttng--Picard vs. Q, or Picard vs. Borg, or Picard vs. Romulans (by the way nemesis will be a great movie)and Voyager has Janeway vs, many enemies, including the Borg. Ds9 is no different, the federation vs the dominion, Sisco vs cardasians, even the new show "Enterprise" has "Archer" Vs. "Silik" I believe that this common good vs. evil theme is what makes the show special, why DS9 is going to sell well, and why Enterprise will have at least 6 or 7 seasons I think, paramount would do well to consider a Ds9 big screen movie, and possibly a movie of "Enterprise" the prequel??

Review: I think the 2 hour premier episode of DS9 is one of the best films ever made. What more can I say?I don't understand why many hardcore trekkies did not like this series, but then again, I don't understand hardcore trekkies.

Summary: DS9 - Dark and Political
Review: Decades from now, DS9 will undoubtedly be considered one of Trek's finest achievements. But be warned -- this is not your grandmother's Trek. It's dark, it's political, it's very realistic, and after seeing it you won't be the same person. Newcomers to the series should be warned. DS9 is made up of many ongoing storylines. Unlike The Next Generation, you can't buy just one season of DVD's and expect to really understand what the show is all about. Doing ths would be like taking one chapter out of the Bible and then proclaiming that you understand what the Bible is. It doesn't work that way. You must see DS9 in its entirety and IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER before you can really appreciate how much of an achievement it is. Some episodes can be understood individually as "stand-alones," but most of them involve ongoing themes and storylines that provide a backdrop and a context for what is going on. Basically, I would suggest that you either get the whole series, or save your money and watch it on TNN when they start showing it. Seasons 1 and 2 are a little slow at first, but don't give up. Both seasons have some classic episodes which play an important role in the development of the series and its characters. But when you hit the Season 2 finale "The Jem'Hadar" prepare for a side of Star Trek you never thought you'd see. That's all I have to say. Walk with the prophets. And remember: Niners aren't linear; we're everywhere!

Summary: Deep Space Nine
Review: Deep Space Nine meshes very well with the Next Generation and Voyager Series, sharing the same fictional universe and some characters. The plot has some metaphysical/supernatural aspects that might not appeal to hard-science fiction fans, but I think that this part of the story is skillfully integregated. I would would buy this series if the studio put it out on DVD. Then I wouldn't have to stay up until midnight to see reruns on UPN.

Summary: Look Forward to DVD!
Review: I came late to the DS9 party, being a die-hard TNG fan. I never watched the original airdates of DS9, but when then started showing reruns on local TV, I was hooked. (Although I had to have a friend explain who was who and what was going on.) This show is becoming my favorite of all the series. The strong charactors, friendships and plot-lines make it exciting and realistic. I'm so looking forward to the DVD coming out I plan to buy a DVD player and new TV for the occasion!

Review: They will be releasing ST DS9 on DVD after they finish releasing ST TNG on DVD, which the seventh season comes out the last day of the month of December. So hopefully DS9 will be coming out early next year.

Review: It's dark, dirty, cruel, ugly, political, and un-TNG like. In other words, it ain't the "love-boat" no mo!! That's why it's so good, and that's why I wish they will release DS9 in the nice DVD package similar to that of TNG. (Thank you!) By the way, I think "In the Pale Moonlight" may be the best Star Trek episode of all time.

Summary: Love The Series
Review: I have been enjoying Star Trek for a long time. I even enjoy watching the re-runs of the Next Generation and the original Star Trek series, even thought I own copies. I really miss Deep Space Nine though. I didn't mind that it was darker than the preceding two series or even (then) the newly unveiled Voyager series. I know that even in this supposed wonderful future, not everything was easy or simple. The Next Generation only touched on certain darker elements. Deep Space Nine really explored those stories. I felt that Deep Space Nine was more intricate and raw than the others and that the cast was perfect with their moments of heroics and their falls from grace. It is sad that it is so difficult to find this series anywhere. I even started purchasing the VHS series through Columbia House, but it became too expensive and took to long to get a two-episode tape. I believe that this series is in every way comparable to another excellent series, Babylon 5. I would really love to buy the box sets of Deep Space Nine. I wish they would treat DS9 with the same respect TNG gets.

Review: By season two, Deep Space Nine had become the best of the Star Trek spin-offs. The excellent writing and complex characters made it one of the best tv shows ever produced. The bad guys were smart and incredibly devious, the science was amazing, and the story lines were epic. I can't wait for it to be released on DVD.

Summary: Now This is SF/Fantasy at its Best!
Review: What can I say about this gem in the Star Trek franchise that hasn't already been said before? Ira Steven Behr (executive producer/head writer), Ronald D. Moore (co-executive producer) and the rest of the truly fabulous writers on DS9's staff took the most original concept in the franchise since the classic Star Trek and wove a vivid tapestry of intricate story arcs the likes of which will probably never be seen again in a Star Trek series. Unlike other series in the franchise, DS9 didn't revolve around big space battles and ground-breaking visual effects, though the series certainly had its fair share of both. No, DS9 was always about the characters and the stories. Classic Star Trek social themes like racism, euthanasia and the horror of war were explored in great detail. The writers even commented on the state of religion in our world today by using the alien world of Bajor and its peoples relationship with their Prophets. As a Christian man this didn't offend me in any way. On the contrary, it made me happy to finally see Star Trek's writers acknowledge religious themes, and treat them in a fair way. Avery Brooks, as Captain Benjamin Lafayette Sisko, led what is arguably Star Trek's greatest ensemble of actors (though a case can be made for Voyager's excellent cast) through seven seasons of intelligent drama, mixed with the kind of humor we haven't seen since Captain Kirk and his crew visited planet Sigma Lotia II. Yes, their comedy episodes were that good. And like all of the Star Trek series try to do, this series went where no series has gone before when Captain Sisko ascended to become a Prophet himself. I believe Mr. Gene Roddenberry would be proud. When I watch or read Science Fiction I want to not only be entertained, I also want to think and feel. This masterpiece did everything I expect an SF/Fantasy series to do. I would like to thank Rick Berman and Michael Piller for creating DS9, and for having the foresight to bring Ira Steven Behr into the mix early on. Yes, Deep Space Nine was great Star Trek (probably the most human of the lot), but it was also great SF/Fantasy. And that is the highest compliment I can pay to those who were involved. Every season of this wonderful Star Trek series is definitely worth purchasing on DVD. Season 1: ****
