Summary: Buy season 1 now, show Paramount we want them ALL!
Review: I have just read all the reviews and I could not agree more, DS9 is the best Trek ever. Without DS9, there is no solid "back-story" for all the Trek that has followed including Voyager and the movies.

Aside from great comedy and pathos, I LOVE the episodes with Quark and all the Ferengi, DS9 is the the most relevant series to today's world. It deals honestly about war and terrorism and freedom.

I read this in a Trek mag about 1 year ago, someone wrote in to point out a scene in one of later seasons-- 6 or 7, I think --where they have been testing people's blood to see if they are shapeshifters, and it gets to be a real impact on people's freedom. And Sikso is advocating to stop this and says something like-- they may want to destroy our world, but we don't have to help them.

Anyway, now that season 1 is out and I've pre-ordered, I recommend that everyone who is interested in DS9 to see it from the beginning to really appreciate it. My son who is 13 and has seen (almost) every episode of TNG and Voyager, missed out on DS9 and I can't wait for him to see it all.

If we don't show a big push for DS9, Paramount might think it is not worth it to release them all-- So I say, show your support up front-- BUY SEASON 1 NOW!

Summary: FINALLY!!![...]
Review: YES! Considering TNN reruns Next Gen to death and other syndicated channels do the same with the disappointing Voyager, and Enterprise is just a rehash mostly of what went before, I'm so happy that DS9 is finally coming out on DVD. It truly is the best series trek ever did and although it started out slow, it is the only trek to ever get better and better and better with each and every season. By the fifth season, it was already the best trek ever and it got even better in the sixth! It was gutsy, innovative and the only series where you ended up really liking and caring for every member of the cast as opposed to three or four tops. This was the series that more and more, went where no one had gone before. -Rick

Summary: FIN-ALLY! Terrok Nor has COME BACK to our homes!
Review: Sure, Dwayne might get mad about my abuse of his line, but we live with danger every day, don't we?
DS9, the strongest of all the Treks, comes out on DVD, in a full season offer. How do you beat that? Well, bring out the rest of the seasons in short order, I say. Still and all, a welcome thing. Thank you, Powers That Be, for finally getting the clue. It only took you... how many years?

Summary: Best Star Trek Ever!!!!!!
Review: Without a doubt the best Star trek series. Even better than the original sreies. Just because of the topics it coverd politics, war, religon and other stuff the other sreies were afraid to cover. It isn't Roddenberry's vision it is better. The best nothing else has to be said.

Summary: DS9 ROCKS!!!! and IT'S COMING!!!!!
Review: I loved Deep Space Nine and aside from growing up on another love, TNG, I would have to put DS9 right up there with TNG as the best Star Trek series' ever! The reviewers I've seen here are RIGHT! DS9 was SO under-rated and looked down upon as the ugly middle child it HURTS!!!!! It trekked through space in a way never conceived before. The new civilizations trekked to DS9 instead of the other way around and the show explored the strange new worlds of an awesome tapestry of characters. I could go on for a VERY long time, but most of all I wanted to post my praise of this AWESOME series and bring the news to all of you.

Summary: DVD release date announced.
Review: Paramount Home Entertainment announced on 11/16 that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine will receive its DVD debut on February 25, 2003.

Deep Space Nine's first season will be released on that date with subsequent seasons released in alternate months throughout 2003, in a similar pattern to the Next Generation DVDs.

The six-disc set will contain the feature-length premiere, 'Emissary,' together with the eighteen regular season one episodes, all remixed with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. The season includes visits by Q and Lwaxana Troi in 'Q-Less' and 'The Forsaken,' respectively, the introduction of Vedek Winn in 'In The Hands of the Prophets,' and 'Duet,' often regarded as one of DS9's best-ever episodes.

Extra features include 'Deep Space Nine: A Bold Beginning,' a look at the show's makeup maestro in 'Michael Westmore's Aliens: Season One,' 'Crew Dossier: Kira Nerys,' 'Deep Space Nine Sketchbook' and one featurette which promises to reveal the 'Secrets of Quark's Bar.'

Be sure to catch the trailers for the DS9 releases in the Season 6 and 7 TNG sets coming out in December.

Summary: Seasons 3-7: DS9's new beginning!
Review: If you want to checkout the "Dominion arc, and the USS Defiant" from beginning to end, I recommend you checkout Seasons 3-7, in that order.

If you want to checkout "Captain Sisko and Worf" from beginning to end, then I recommend you checkout Seasons 4-7, in that order.

Season 3 is the real "new beginning" of DS9 (introduction of the Dominion, USS Defiant, beginning of story arcs), while Season 4's changes are more on the superficial, aesthetic side (Sisko's bald look, Worf coming to DS9 during the 2nd year of the Dominion arc). I highly recommend you checkout Season 3 first (introduction of the Dominion, USS Defiant, beginning of story arcs), but if you are a person who wants "absolute, immediate satisfaction" (i.e. "How many episodes do I have to sit through, before I finally get to see Captain Sisko and Worf?"), then I recommend you start-off with Season 4.

Review: FORGET VOYAGER, DEEP SPACE NINE FOR DVD FORMAT NOW!!![...]

What can I say, Deep Space Nine is one of the best television programs of all time. All I ever read is bad things about DS9, it irritates me and if it irritates me think what it must do for the superb writers, actors and directors of the series.

Even people who dislike Star Trek will enjoy this series because it is different and everything is not all smiles and isn't the future great. It is also more charactor based as oppose to focusing on Sci Fi. Avery Brooks is fantastic as Captain Benjamin Sisco, Armin Shimerman(Quark), Colm Meany(Miles O'Brian) and Rene Auberjonois(Odo) are also exelent.

Don't take my word for it, watch the next episode airing in your area or buy a VHS. I recommend all the 2 part episodes, obviously the pilot if you have never seen the series. There nearly all good, you won't be dissapointed.
