Summary: Not Just Another Pinnochio Story
Review: This has got to be one of the best animes ever! The story was compelling and catches anyone's attention and never lets go.

The animation is superb and the voice acting is outstanding. And Nichole Oliver does a wonderful job in doing Key's voice in the Dub.

It features a robot girl wanting to become human. Her creator (Grandfather as she calls him) tells her at his death that the only way she could become human was to make 30,000 friends. Friends that will love her and cry for her. So where can Key go to make this many friends? To Tokyo, of course. But a dark sinister corporation is not going to make Key's mission easy.

As my title says that this isn't another Pinnochio story, that's true. Key does want to be human and people try to take advantage of her, but that's where the similarites end.

Key's story goes much deeper than the story of Pinnochio ever did. It not only explores the human nature, but whether or not it's worth becoming human at all.

Will you be one of Key's friends?

Summary: Great show, mediocre DVD
Review: This is simply a fantastic show. It has a surreal feeling that is evocative of Gasaraki; things that seem to not be important are vital later on (count the roses). The music is fantastic, and the animation is extremely well done. Of course, this is to be expected considering it is an OVA, and a Pioneer one at that.

The reason I gave this disc four stars instead of five is for the quality. Audio is great, but I had some issues with video; after reading some more reviews of the disc, I found that mine was not an isolated case. Beginning in the first episode and carrying somewhat into the second, the video shakes. That seems like nothing, but it is extremely irritating considering that this is a DVD. I can't blame it too much on the disc, though, as Japanese archival standards for anime series are not extraordinarily high. Just consider it a friendly warning, and rest assured that it clears up (or your brain adjusts, I haven't figured out which) by the third episode.

So in summary? This is a great series. If you're thinking about it, go ahead and buy it. It starts off a little bit slow but picks up by the end of this disc. As for myself? I've already ordered the second one.

Summary: Key the Metal Idol is the Best There Is!
Review: This series starts with a jump and keeps on going. Sometimes it's wordy, sometimes it's shocking, but you'll want to watch it over to really understand what went on. It has great music (I especially love "In the Night", the opening theme song,) and very interesting characters. If you like sci-fi and haunting music, I thik you're gonna love Key the Metal Idol.
