Summary: Underrated
Review: This film was just great, it had everything, suspense, romance, action, a very good plot, and Jet Li's acting was very good. Jet is Ching, he is a bodyguard from mainland China trying to protect this woman that had witnessed a murder. I loved Jet Li's acting, he was an impassive character(Just like me, never laugh, never smile, serious all the time). While Michelle(The women being protected) gets very pissed off at him, at least until the big brawl at the mall. What surprised me was that this movie wasn't really aimed at action. There were only 2 fight scenes throughout the whole film. Only one of them was a hand to hand combat, and it was pretty short. That dissapointed me, but the whole story and the romance ambianting around Jet and Michelle will keep you watching. She started to like him after the fight in the mall. If you saw Tai-Chi Master, Swordsman 2, Lord of Wu-Tang, you would either love it or hate it. Because this movie had way less action and had a sad and emotional ending, which Jet Li left her.

Summary: A Jet Li classic!!!
Review: This is a very nice movie that shows Jet Li can do more then just do martial arts. Originally called "Body Guard from Beijing," there is a lot of gun play involved which Li brings with new style. It does lack Jet Li's true talents of martial arts fight scenes but still a very good movie indeed. One of Li's best...behind "Fist of Legend" of course.

Summary: Jet Li In Action
Review: This is an action packed Jet Li movie with a hint of romance and suspense. However this is not your regular martial arts flick but it delivers action with lots of gun play and thrills. It has it's hilarious moments too. This is one Jet Li film for your collection.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A combination of romance and action.
Review: This is one of the best martial arts movies I've seen since, "Enter the Dragon", with Bruce Lee. I love action movies and this movie was full of action. The underlying love connection between Jet Li and the leading female character was one aspect of why I watched this movie at least 15 times. No sex, no kissing, just your imagination of what it could have been like between the characters. Myself, as many other Jet Li fans, first saw his outstanding film presence in, "Lethal Weapon 4", and from there it was a search for any other movies Jet Li was in (foreign or not). Anyone who veiws this movie and doesn't find it striking would have to not be a true lover of action movies. I can't wait to see more and more of Jet Li in American theaters.

Summary: I must have the abridged version
Review: This is simply not worth viewing. Okay, maybe the last fight scene just for its fast action. The movie itself is exceedingly boring and silly. I bought it used and wish I had bought some magic beans. I actually wanted to do housework instead of watch this thing.

Summary: Jet Li's version of The Bodyguard
Review: This Jet Li movie directed by Corey Yuen (or Yuen Kwei) is the Hong Kong version of Hollywood's The Bodyguard. Jet Li plays a bodyguard from Beijing, who is hired to protect a celebrity & key witness in a murder case. However, he eventually becomes romantically involved with his client. The acting and direction is better than most of Jet Li's other films. However, there is not much action in this movie. Most of the action (especially the good action) comes at the end of the film, in two scenes. There is a shootout in a shopping mall, and then a long finale inside a house. If you don't mind blood & guns, and if you like sped up action, as well as wirework action in realistic movies (like Romeo Must Die) then I guarantee that you will like the action in this movie.

Summary: Jet Li is just flat out NASTY!
Review: This movie does rip off the Bodyguard movie but to put the two in comparison is ridiculous. The plot of this movie is decent but like every Jet Li movie I've seen, once Jet starts punching and kicking at light speed, plot really doesn't matter.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Good story and action
Review: This movie was quite good! Why?

1. It had a good story. It wasn't all that Jet Li stunts and etc. This movie was whole lot better then "The Romeo Must Die", which had a sorry plot. 2. It had good action. No,.. this movie is not "The Legend" or "Twin Warriors", or "The Fist Legend", but it can hold its own. 3. Being a moral guy that I am - I liked this movie for the absence of cursing and sex. If I would've had children I could watch it with them and not feel that they are seeing something that they shouldn't! 4. It had good portrayals of a positive attitude. Sacrificing your life for the sake of other, and etc.

Summary: Retitled as "The Defender"
Review: This movie was retitled "The Defender" when released in the U.S. The Defender includes English audio track.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: originally Bodyguard From Beijing
Review: This will be Dimension's fourth release/re-release of Jet Li's Hong Kong movies. Defender's original title was BODYGUARD FROM BEIJING. In this movie Jet Li plays a serious, no-nonsense bodyguard who is sent to Hong Kong to protect a witness (Christy Cheung) before her court appearence. He is paid by her very rich boyfriend who often takes her for granted. Jet Li's character and Christy Cheung character start off not liking each other but they soon begin to fall in love. Good story (similar to THE BODYGUARD) and some good action sequences spread throughout the movie. The action sequence in the shopping mall and the final one was very well done. The bad guy in the movie was also cool. I enjoyed this movie alot and thought it was one of Jet Li's better movies.
