Review: Intro:
The last thing you expect when you're a hitman is to save a life. A Luc Besson film, which has his stamp of quality all over it. Jean Reno stars as Italian 'cleaner' (hitman) Leon, who unwittingly stumbles into the tragically orphaned world of Mathilda, a young girl played by Natalie Portman. Set in New York, Leon makes his living carrying out hits supplied by the only man he trusts, Tony, played by the competent Danny Aiello. With her life turned upside down, Mathilda turns to a reluctant Leon for help, teaming up for a vendetta that will mean her growing up faster than she'd planned. A masterful performance from Gary Oldman adds a certain evil quality that keeps the film flowing towards what promises to be a devastating climax.Picture:
Excellent quality picture with minimal grain and no bleed, the colours really come to life. From vivid blue skies to the New York brownstone buildings, everything is very realistic. 5/5 For Picture Sound:
From the gunshots to the atmospheric street scenes, all formats are tested to great effect. Sound separation is very impressive, filling the whole room, while the music is integrated with the film, to add to the enjoyment. 4/5 For Sound Movie:
You simply can't find fault when you have the combination of a fantastic director and a quality cast. This film has action as well as a plot, very rare these days, and really gets you involved in the character's lives. Each actor holds their own, and Natalie Portman's performance is worthy of an actress twice her age. 5/5 For The Movie Summary:

Summary: There's a lot missing here...
Review: The Professional is that rarest of films: a good action flick. Luc Besson's direction, and Natalie Portman's performance (no wonder she caught the eye of George Lucas) are absolutely first-rate. But the film seemed choppy. Characters seemed to interact in a way that seemed as if they knew more about each other than had been portrayed in the film. However, it makes sense, when you realize that the European version is substantially longer (by about an hour I think). I would have enjoyed seeing the somewhat ambiguous relationship between Mathilda and Leon develop more. This is a good American version of what I am sure was a great European film. I understand the Hollywood mentality of keeping every film under 2 hours (unless it's directed by Kevin Costner or Steven Spielberg), but when you release something on DVD, you should release ALL of it. Shame on you, DVD-makin' folks. We demand more!

Review: Objectively speaking this movie probably doesn't *quite* deserve 5 stars -- there are a few awkward moments and some minor aspects that could've been improved upon. But I like it too much to give it less. It's an over-the-top film with a subtley surreal quality (the story is too far-fetched to be credible, but too well done to be dismissed in its given context), and a solid sense of character development. Film builds in adventure and emotion into a truly entertaing, gripping, and heart-wrenching climax. Very worthwhile.

Summary: Could be better, but not much
Review: "The Professional" ranks right up there with John Woo's "The Killer" and "Hard-Boiled" in the "Killer-with-a-conscience" genre. My only real complaint was the lack of more "cleaning jobs". I mean, there were only about three in the whole movie and we didn't get to see one of them. If you could combine the in-depth story/drama of this movie with some of the action of John Woo's hits, the compilation would be the greatest action movie ever. Last, but not least, Luc Besson is great. I loved this movie and I liked his "Fifth Element" even more. I hope he keeps this up. Overall, buy and watch this movie multiple times.

Summary: A truly engaging story tucked inside 1st class cinematic art
Review: This film is an absolute masterpiece, and I am amazed that this has never been mentioned for any cinematic awards. Reno is absolutely brilliant as Leon, and Besson does an excellent job challenging our assumptions about him as a hit man and turning it into sympathy. Portman is magic as Mathilda. Oldman is right at home in Besson's world. The camera shots are so good at times that you will rewind the film to see them again. Eat this film up!

Review: Jean Reno gives a stellar performance as the hardened hitman (cleaner) in this movie. Also, it showcases the brilliance of Natalie Portman which was tragically under-used in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Truly a heartbreaking movie and a must see for those interested in great movies.

Summary: Same old glorified cop killin'
Review: Sure Leon's the hero, even though he shot about dozen innocent cops and blew the rest up. It's the same as Face/off. It seems that in most movies the SWAT officers just run into the situation, guns a blazin' without any planning or care for innocents. The rest of the movie is good, though. I just wish Hollywood understood that a SWAT cop is still a cop.

Review: "Leon" is one of the best action film. This film was released in 1994. This year is birthyear of Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction". Both films is sumptuous feast for all people who like cinema. "Leon" is story about love. Love and care given to little girl Mathilda by killer (cleaner) Leon. I would glad to give six stars for this movie.
